The good news is that Varsity Tutors can help you get ready through a Chicago MCAT prep course.
The MCAT is one of the most complex admissions exams students will ever encounter. Its sections cover everything from chemistry and life sciences to psychology, reading skills, and critical thinking. Many students admit that preparing for this test was one of the most difficult experiences of their student careers. If you want to stand out from other applicants and increase your chances of getting into your first-pick medical school, you need to perform well on this test. One way you can do that is through Chicago MCAT prep, a comprehensive course designed to help you study for the MCAT more efficiently.
What does the Chicago MCAT prep cover?
Our interactive course is designed to help you become more comfortable with the material you'll encounter on the actual test. You'll learn through a mixture of private tutoring lessons and collaborative classroom sessions that cover all the sections of the MCAT in depth. Lessons are conducted online, and the content has carefully been selected to ensure that you receive a balanced learning experience that prepares you for the exam. Let's take a look at each section of the test, as well as what you can expect to learn from this course.
The Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems portion of the test contains a mixture of passage and independent questions. There are 59 questions in total, and they cover a number of topics related to chemistry and life sciences. To do well on section, you'll need to have a strong understanding of organic and inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and even physics. That's because everything from chemical reactions in the body to the laws of physics is covered in this part of the MCAT.
The next section is the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills portion. Here, you'll be given a series of questions based on nine reading passages. There are a total of 53 questions on this part of the exam and they test your understanding of English, as well as your critical reading and analytical skills. Scoring high on this part of the exam requires you to be able to take important information from the reading passages and use it to answer questions.
For the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems section, you'll have to answer 59 questions based on different fields of chemistry and biology. The format of your questions is passage-based and standalone questions covering challenging topics related to cells and organ systems, growth and development, reproduction, and more. Along with a keen understanding of biology and biochemistry, you also need to answer questions using scientific inquiry and sharp reasoning skills.
Finally, there's the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior portion. Here, you'll also be presented with 59 questions, which are broken up into standalone and passage-based questions. This section deals primarily with psychology and sociology, and how biological and environmental factors play a role in one's mental health. In order to perform well on this part of the exam, you'll need to have a good understanding of human behavior and how it related to medicine and one's mental well-being.
