Preparing for the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) doesn't have to be stressful thank to Varsity Tutors and our Sacramento LSAT prep solutions. Whether you're approaching law school immediately after you finish your undergraduate degree or you are returning to school after some time in the workforce, preparing for the LSAT is one of the most important things you can do to start your legal career off on the right foot.
This test was specifically designed to measure vital skills experts have discovered are essential for succeeding in this type of graduate school program. These are also the skills you will need moving forward in your legal career. It is the only admissions test recognized and accepted by all Canadian common-law and ABA-accredited law schools. Whether you are interested in attending the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law or the University of Northern California Lorenzo Patino School of Law, you will need to prove yourself on the LSAT to be accepted. Continue reading to learn more about subjects covered on the LSAT, the format of the test, and how Varsity Tutors can help you prepare.
What can Sacramento LSAT prep cover?
There are four portions of the LSAT: Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Writing. The Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, and Logical Reasoning portions of the exam are administered on a digital tablet which is provided at the testing center. To answer a question, you tap the multiple choice answer you believe is correct. Some of the features of this type of testing include a timer that gives you a warning when you have only 5 minutes remaining, the ability to highlight text, and an opportunity to flag questions you may want to review before completing a section. The Writing portion of the LSAT is administered separately on a secure testing platform. Candidates have one year from the date they take the multiple choice sections to complete the Writing component of the exam.
You will have 35 minutes to complete the Reading Comprehension section of the LSAT. During this portion of the exam, your ability to read and understand multiple types of texts similar to those you will encounter in law school will be evaluated. Your comprehension will be tested in numerous ways beyond simply reading passages and answering factually based questions. Working with professional resources can make it easier to become familiar with the type of material which will be covered in this section.
You have 35 minutes to complete the Analytical Reasoning component of the LSAT. During this section of the test, your ability to understand how relationships are formed and draw conclusions based upon that information will be evaluated. Your ability to infer knowledge, reason with conditional statements, and find solutions based upon the information given will all be tested and may be skills you want to review as part of your LSAT preparation.
The most time for any section is given for the Logical Reasoning section of the LSAT, for which you will have 70 minutes. Your talent for analysis, critical evaluation, and completing compelling arguments will be measured during this portion of the exam. Some of the content sources you will use include newspapers, scholarly publications, magazines, informal discourse, and advertisements. This is one of the tricker sections of the test and one of the most difficult to prepare for on your own.
You only have 30 minutes to complete the Writing section of the LSAT. The Writing section of the LSAT is not scored. When you complete this section, you will be demonstrating your ability to make a choice based on the information you are given and then defend your choice clearly with supporting evidence. There is no correct or incorrect position to take. The test is in your ability to defend whichever argument you choose to make. The writing sample will be submitted to all of the schools to which you apply, so it needs to be a stellar piece. If you're unsure your writing skills will impress admissions officials you can work with a personal instructor to hone your technique.
How can a Sacramento LSAT prep class help me prepare?
All of our classes are presented in a secure digital classroom. This means all of the benefits of direct instruction and peer support without the hassle of a commute. You can choose a two or four-week class option based on how much time you have and how many areas you want to review.
All of these classes are compartmentalized into individual segments, and new segments start each week. Whether you need to hone a few specific skills or you want a comprehensive review that covers all areas of the exam, choosing a class as part of your Sacramento LSAT preparation strategy can be a game changer. Skilled instructors and professionally created resources give you an advantage over students who will be preparing from outdated books or bits and pieces of information cobbled together online.
How is working with a Sacramento LSAT tutor different from taking a course?
When you work with a private instructor, you receive more personalized instruction than is possible in a Sacramento LSAT prep course. While you can ask questions of an instructor in a course, they are not able to make you their exclusive focus. An instructor in a course must deliver lesson material, facilitate group interaction, and answer questions from various students. When you work with a personal tutor, everything about each session will be customized specifically for your personal learning needs.
Another difference between working with a tutor and participating in a class is the ability to schedule your sessions at times which are most convenient for your schedule.

I tutor the LSAT because I know it's a hard test and I know what it's like to struggle with it. However I also understand the process necessary to produce better scores, and nothing is more satisfying to me than helping someone achieve what seemed impossible a few months ago.... Your score is a product of so many factors--your understanding of the material, your speed, even how accurately you bubble answers--but in the end it all comes down to whether you studied the test from every angle and put in the time necessary to get the results you want.
