If you are a student in the Spokane area looking for some help with your ACT review, Varsity Tutors can get you set up with Spokane ACT preparation. Wherever you may be in your college application process, you have likely been considering which of the two most common admissions exams you will be taking. Many students attending schools in Spokane, such as Lewis and Clark High School and Mead High School, choose to take the ACT. The colleges that you apply for may consider your ACT score as a factor in your admission, so it is important to reach for your top potential on this exam.
The ACT is made up of four required sections and an optional Writing section. This exam will test many of the skills that you have learned so far in school. Whether you feel that you would learn best in a group setting, or with individualized tutoring, Varsity Tutors can get you set up with test prep assistance that works for you. Wherever you may be in your ACT review, Spokane ACT prep can help you make the most of your study time.
What would Spokane ACT prep prepare me for?
The four required sections of the ACT include Math, Reading, English, and Science. You also have the option of the ACT Plus Writing, which adds a Writing section to your exam as well. The four required sections will have to be completed in just less than three hours, with an additional 40 minutes added for the Writing section. Let's look into each section and the topics and concepts they will cover.
In the hour you will be given to complete the Math section, you will be faced with 60 multiple-choice mathematical problems. With just a minute per problem, speed and accuracy will be crucial. The problems in this section will cover a wide range of mathematical skills you should have learned throughout your school years. From pre-algebra to trigonometry, you will need to utilize many different concepts to answer each problem.
Next, in the Reading section, you will be allowed 35 minutes to answer 40 passage-based, multiple-choice questions. These questions will measure your reading comprehension, ability to use text to reason logically, and skills in determining word and phrase meanings. You will want to have a good grasp on identifying text relationships and making connections in passages, as well.
The following English section is also passage-based and contains 75 multiple-choice questions to be answered within 45 minutes. However, these questions will focus more on your understanding and knowledge of language skills. Most of the questions will ask you to make editing and revision decisions within the passage and could focus on sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, or usage. You will be expected to make these revisions based on the tone and writing style of the passage provided.
In the final Science section, you will be allowed 35 minutes to answer 40 multiple-choice problems. These problems may measure your interpretation, evaluation, analysis, and reasoning skills. The topics covered here may include physics, chemistry, biology, and earth and space sciences. You will want to have a clear understanding of the scientific method and other procedures and designs of scientific experimentation and investigation.
If you opted to complete the Writing section, you will be given an additional 40 minutes to write a clear and concise essay on a given issue. You will be presented with three different perspectives on the issue that you will need to provide correlations between, along with coming up with your own unique perspective. You will want to organize your ideas clearly and write well.
What are the different benefits of each Spokane ACT prep?
Prep courses and private tutoring are both very effective types of ACT review and both offer their own unique benefits. While each student may have different learning styles and needs, you are sure to find the right fit with one of these options, or with a combination of both. Let's take a deeper look into what makes each of these review options unique.
If you feel that a Spokane ACT prep course would be the right fit, we can help get you enrolled in a virtual, classroom-based session. New courses start weekly and are offered in convenient two- or four-week sessions. With the convenience of being completely online, you are sure to find a course to fit into your busy schedule. These courses focus on the ACT with a set curriculum to cover each section and concept presented in the exam.
Your Spokane ACT prep class will be held in an interactive and collaborative environment, allowing you the opportunity to discuss study techniques with a qualified instructor and the other students. You will be able to participate in group activities and can gain new insights into the skills you will need for the ACT. If you find yourself needing a little more help in understanding a certain topic, you will have the opportunity to schedule a one-on-one discussion with your instructor.
A Spokane ACT tutor could be an excellent option for you if you prefer a more individualized approach to your learning. Maybe you are feeling confident in the Math section but would appreciate some deeper understanding in the English section. Working with a private instructor gives you the opportunity to focus on your goals without spending time reviewing things that you are already comfortable with. When you work with a tutor, it allows them to get to know your challenges and strengths and to build a study session that will work with those needs in mind.
How can I get enrolled in Spokane ACT prep?
If you are unsure as to which ACT review would be the best fit for you, Varsity Tutors would be happy to help you decide on the right option. Whether you decide on a well-rounded prep course or the custom private tutoring sessions, you can be sure that they will help you reach for your ACT goals. The way I feel that I can help students learn is by finding a study method they are comfortable with, making it work for them, and providing helpful encouragement....
