I am a favorite of both my high achieving students and my students who are having trouble. I try to make math interesting (it actually is) and I truly care about my students. Helping students who do not grasp the material quickly and getting them to understand is the most rewarding thing I do. I believe that all students can master mathematics and usually find that there is either some underlying but simple problem that needs to be overcome and the student will succeed. Often, a failure to fully understand some basic arithmetic or a lack of sufficent repetitions of the assigned material material is the cause of a problem. Both can be overcome with some extra work and understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions
Varsity Tutors connects students across Fort Lauderdale's 68 schools with personalized 1-on-1 instruction tailored to their specific curriculum and learning needs. Whether your student attends a school in the Broward County district or is homeschooled, we match them with tutors who understand local educational standards and can provide targeted support in any subject.
While Fort Lauderdale's average student-teacher ratio is relatively balanced, individual attention in the classroom is still limited when students have different learning paces and needs. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring fills that gap by providing focused instruction on the exact concepts your student struggles with, without the time constraints of a classroom setting. Research shows that 1-on-1 instruction significantly accelerates learning compared to traditional classroom settings.
Tutors working with Fort Lauderdale students are familiar with Florida's academic standards and state assessments, including FSA (Florida Standards Assessments) and EOC (End of Course) exams. They can target instruction toward specific Florida benchmarks and help students build the skills tested on state assessments, whether in reading, writing, math, or science.
Fort Lauderdale students seek tutoring across a wide range of subjects, with strong demand in math (algebra, geometry, calculus), English/language arts, science (biology, chemistry, physics), and standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, AP exams). We also support students in foreign languages, history, and specialized subjects like coding and music theory—whatever your student needs to succeed.
The first session is an opportunity for the tutor and student to get to know each other and identify specific learning goals. The tutor will assess your student's current level, understand any challenges they're facing in their Fort Lauderdale classroom, and create a personalized plan to address those areas. This foundation ensures that all future sessions are focused and effective.
Varsity Tutors works around your family's schedule with flexible tutoring times that fit your student's needs—whether that's after school, weekends, or during school breaks. We understand that Fort Lauderdale families juggle multiple commitments, so we make it easy to find a tutoring arrangement that works for you.
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors who specialize in SAT, ACT, AP, and state standardized test prep. Fort Lauderdale students preparing for college entrance exams or AP exams can get personalized instruction focused on test-taking strategies, content review, and practice problems tailored to their target score.
Getting started is simple—tell us about your student's needs, grade level, and subjects, and we'll match them with an experienced tutor who's a good fit. You can then schedule your first session at a time that works for your family. Most Fort Lauderdale families connect with their tutor within a few days of signing up.
