I love to learn, and I love to teach. My favorite thing in the world is to help people understand and enjoy math. So many people struggle to understand the concepts, and I love seeing the light spark in their eyes as it all clicks in thier heads and they are able to understand and remember how to calculate what they have been struggling with. I have finished my freshman year of college at Grand Canyon University and am working towards getting my degree in Secondary Math Education. I have tutored a varity of ages from 2nd grade up to Freshman in college. When it comes to the subjects themselves I love teaching math, specifically Algebra 1. I like helping people with Algebra 1 because it is one of the biggest foundation stones in math and a solid understanding of it will help when trying to conquer subjects like trigonometry and calculus. I prefer to work alongside the student to help them understand something. I help my students with the specific issues that they have within individual concepts.

I love working with kids and I really enjoy helping someone to understand something in a new manner. I think that learning some of the subjects can be boring but I know how to liven the material up in a manner that is relatable/ easier to understand. I have been a camp counselor in the past so I have some experience working with kids; I am very patient and I was always someone in school that could turn a long tedious problem/ information into something that I remembered forever.

Frequently Asked Questions

Varsity Tutors connects students across Akron's 86 schools and all 21 school districts in the area. With over 28,000 students in the Akron region, we work with learners from elementary through high school who need personalized support in core subjects, test prep, and specialized skills.

Personalized 1-on-1 instruction helps students master Ohio's academic standards by targeting their specific gaps and learning pace. Whether your student needs support with Ohio's math progressions, ELA benchmarks, or science standards, tutors work directly with them to build mastery and confidence in areas where classroom instruction alone may not be enough.

Akron students frequently seek help with math, English/language arts, science, and standardized test preparation—subjects that are critical for high school success and college readiness. We also support students in foreign languages, social studies, and specialized courses like AP and honors classes across Akron's diverse school districts.

With an average student-teacher ratio of 14.2:1 in Akron schools, classroom teachers often have limited time for individualized attention. Personalized tutoring fills that gap by providing focused, one-on-one instruction tailored to your student's learning style and pace, which research shows significantly accelerates progress compared to classroom instruction alone.

Your first session is an opportunity for the tutor to assess your student's current level, understand their goals, and identify areas needing support. The tutor will ask about strengths, challenges, and learning preferences, then create a personalized plan that aligns with your student's school curriculum and academic needs.

Yes. Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who have expertise in the subjects and grade levels your student needs. Whether it's elementary math, high school chemistry, AP Biology, or test prep for the ACT or SAT, we match students with qualified professionals who understand both the content and how to teach it effectively.

Tutoring sessions are scheduled around your family's availability—whether that's after school, weekends, or during the week. We understand that Akron families juggle school, activities, and work, so we work with you to find times that fit your schedule and your student's learning needs.

Personalized 1-on-1 instruction addresses your student's specific challenges rather than generic group instruction, leading to faster progress and stronger academic confidence. For students across Akron's diverse schools and districts, this targeted approach often results in improved grades, better test scores, and a stronger foundation for future success.
