Experienced Math and Science Tutor

Growing up with a teacher for a mother, I have always been challenged to learn. A voracious reader, writer, and student, I always loved learning. These interests were compounded by the desire to share the knowledge I acquired from each new topic of study. As early as grade school, I assisted in teaching my brother to read. Throughout our childhood, then high school and college, I have worked with friends, classmates, and colleagues as a tutor in a wide range of subjects. I strive to further my students' understanding of given material and engage them with new ways of working through problems.

I attended Birmingham-Southern College for my undergraduate studies, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After working for two years, I attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, earning a Ph.D in Genes and Development. My studies there were focused on Immunology, Cancer and Genetics. Since graduation, I have worked in the biotech industry, lectured in Microbiology and am currently doing research on vaccine development.I enjoy one on one teaching, and just discussing science in general. It's always a thrill when the light goes on for someone. I am a follower of all fields of science and technology, and try to incorporate new ideas into my work at all times. In my spare time, I build computers, read history and science fiction and go to movies with my wife.

I am a graduate of the University of North Florida. I have a Master's Degree in History and I have worked as a graduate teaching assistant, during which time I graded exams, tests, and essays and assisted with tutoring. I believe that learning can be fun and rewarding and I hope to use my passion for education to help young people reach their full potential. In my spare time, I like to cook, read, volunteer at local museums, and take trips to historical sites with my fiance.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Case Western Reserve University and a minor in Studio Art. I love math and art, and I find them similar in many ways. I am a patient person, having experience with children in hospital waiting rooms and helping my younger siblings with school. My favorite subjects to tutor are algebra, pre-calculus, and geometry, but I also tutor other subjects within math, art, and computer science. I believe that learning should be fun, and that since all knowledge is cumulative, hopefully the things I teach will become lifelong lessons.Besides tutoring, I enjoy swimming, rock climbing, and anything else that gets me outside or with wild animals. A fun fact from me is that both of my parents are teachers, and my sister is a tutor as well! I'm looking forward to working with you.

I am currently working for a tutoring service called Princeton Tutoring as an independent contractor. As a member of their tutoring base, I instruct students in Math, Physics, AP Exams and most often, the SAT. I have obtained outstanding scores and am confident I can convey instruction and techniques that have worked for me. I have a solid foundation in the Spanish language and am completely fluent in German and Russian.I am interested in Biotech and I am going to be a senior at Princeton University majoring in Molecular Biology.

I tutored all through undergrad and loved every minute of it. I hope to use my passion for tutoring to help others.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biological Engineering with a minor in French. During my time at CU, I studied abroad in Paris, as well as being a Teaching Assistant for Chemistry, Biology, and Fluid Mechanics for engineers and often helped my peers with homework. During the summer and fall I teach percussion for a local high school marching band. While I tutor a variety of math and science topics, my favorite subjects are chemistry and physics, as I love exploring the ways in which the world works. Education is of the highest importance to me, and I wish to share this passion with my students. In my spare time, I like to read suspense novels, play a variety of string instruments, and play Legend of Zelda.

I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's in International Studies and Spanish with a minor in Latin American Studies. Additionally, I was a tutor for a home-schooled middle school student. The subjects of focus were Spanish, English, and occasionally Science and Social Studies. My subject focuses at Varsity Tutors are Spanish and English, particularly reading, writing, and speaking. I am easy to get along with and adaptable to all age ranges as I have tutored varying ages.
