What can Tucson SAT prep cover?
The SAT includes three mandatory sections you will need to complete. These sections are Math, Reading, and Writing and Language. The SAT also offers a fourth, optional section known as the Essay portion of the exam. The SAT will start between 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM and end around 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM depending on if you were to opt-in for the Essay portion of the test. You will be permitted to have one 10 minute break and one 5 minute break. We will now discuss what you can expect the test to cover in further detail.
The Writing and Language section will have 44 questions you will need to answer. You will have 35 minutes to complete this section. All questions in this section will be multiple-choice. You will be required to read a few various written passages. This section will test your knowledge of words in context, expression of ideas, command of evidence, and standard English conventions.
The Math section will have 58 questions you will need to answer. You will have 80 minutes to complete this section. The Math section is broken down into two parts. One part of this section will ban the use of the calculator, but the other part of this section will allow the use of the calculator. The calculator section will consist of 30 questions that are multiple choice and 8 grid-ins. You will have 55 minutes to complete this section. The non-calculator section will have 15 questions that are multiple choice and 5 grid-ins. You will have 25 minutes to complete this section.
The Reading section will have 52 questions you will need to answer. You will have 65 minutes to complete this section. The Reading section will have a few passages you will need to read. The passages will come from either world literature, classic US, contemporary US, United States founding documents, Earth science, biology, chemistry, or physics. This section will test you on your command of evidence, words in context, and analysis in history/social studies in science.
As we've previously mentioned the SAT Essay portion is completely optional. You are not forced to participate in this section. The Essay portion of this exam will be 50 minutes long. This portion of the exam will require you to read a passage. You will then have to consider the author's use of reasoning, evidence, and persuasive elements. You will be required to write your own essay where you will decipher the author's persuasive abilities and argument. You do not need to agree with the author's point of view. You will only be evaluating the author's argument. To put your best foot forward, you will need to brush up on your analysis and writing skills.
