If you're interested in pursuing a career in the securities industry and you need a Denver SIE prep course, Varsity Tutors is here to help you. We can enroll you in an online Denver SIE course that can help you better understand the material that will be on the SIE Exam, whether you're a college student at the University of Colorado Denver, Colorado State University, or you've been out of college for some time and need a refresher course to review the SIE Exam.
What Are the Topics Covered by a Denver SIE Prep Course?
The SIE (or Securities Industry Essentials) Exam is taken by prospective securities industry professionals. It includes concepts that are fundamental to working in the securities industry such as the types of products you will work with and their risks, the structure of the securities industry markets, the functions of various regulatory agencies, and any prohibited practices. Although passing the SIE Exam is important to prospective securities industry professionals, it alone won't qualify you for registration with a FINRA member firm or otherwise allow you to engage in the securities business. In order to become registered, you need to complete the SIE Exam and a qualification exam appropriate for the type of business you will be engaged in.
The SIE Exam consists of 75 multiple choice questions. You have 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the exam, and you must correctly answer at least 70 percent of the questions to earn a passing score. Some of the topics that may be covered in the exam include types of markets, monetary vs. fiscal policy, business economic factors, international economic factors, packaged products, debt instruments, investment returns, and customer account registrations. You will also have to answer questions about money laundering and other prohibited activities that you may find as a securities industry professional. This does indeed seem daunting if you aren't ready for it, but a good Denver SIE class can help you prepare for the exam by going over some of this material.
What are the Advantages of Enrolling in a Denver SIE Course?
As with any exam that is required of licensure and registration, you will need to take some time and prepare for the SIE Exam. That's where a Denver SIE course can help you. When you enroll in an SIE course, you will be able to interact with other students and your instructors in a virtual online classroom. The students will all be preparing for the SIE themselves, so you will all be able to work together as you study the course material. They may be able to offer you some pointers if you're confused about a certain subject, and you will have plenty of opportunities to do the same. For example, you might have a great handle on international economic factors, but some of your fellow students may not. Meanwhile, you might struggle with equity securities or some other topics that other students can help you understand. You might even have the chance to learn other topics that might otherwise miss if you were to study on your own. This kind of collaborative learning has been shown to help people better understand course material than if they simply studied on their own. Of course, you will also have plenty of opportunities to reach out to an instructor if you need any one-on-one help.
Since you will be taking a Denver SIE course online, you will have far more flexibility than if you had taken a course in a physical classroom. You will still have to adhere to a schedule to a certain degree, but you won't have to worry about commuting to a physical classroom to participate in the course. As long as you have a healthy Internet connection, you will be able to attend a session from anywhere. New sections also open up regularly, so you will be able to find an SIE course that works best for your schedule.
How Do I Enroll in a Denver SIE Course?
If you are interested in pursuing a career in the securities industry and you need some help preparing for the SIE Exam, Varsity Tutors can enroll you in the Denver SIE course that best suits your schedule. New sections open up regularly, and there are several class times available, so reach out to us when you are ready to enroll. We will be able to find the SIE prep course that works best for you, no matter what kind of schedule you may have.
