If you're studying to become a registered or practical nurse, Varsity Tutors is happy to help you along the way by setting you up with a Syracuse NCLEX prep program. Before being able to work in medicine, aspiring nurses must first pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and receive their nursing license. The NCLEX is a comprehensive exam that assesses you're understanding of healthcare, social science, and biology, in addition to a number of other principles nurses use in their day-to-day operations.
There are two versions of the NCLEX, the NCLEX-RN and the NCLEX-PN. The version you'll take depends on whether you intend to work as a registered nurse (RN) or practical nurse (PN). Regardless of which assessment you take, you can expect to be evaluated on a wide range of topics. For this reason, many prospective nurses register for private lessons or enroll in a Syracuse NCLEX prep course. Even top students at schools like SUNY Onondaga Community College and Le Moyne College have benefitted from additional study prep. Let's look at some reasons why.
What concepts will be covered during Syracuse NCLEX prep?
There are two versions of NCLEX prep you can choose from: online lessons or private tutoring. While the programs offer different methods of instruction, they're both designed to help people prepare for the NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-PN. As such, you can expect to learn about all the concepts covered on the actual exams in both of these programs. This means that you'll be able to dig deeper into core nursing topics like psychosocial and physiological integrity, health promotion and maintenance, and creating a safe and effective care environment.
Both versions of the NCLEX are comprised of a variety of questions, including multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, and ordered response. The key difference between the two versions is that the NCLEX-RN is slightly longer, and takes six hours to complete rather than five. As such, it also covers some concepts that aren't on the NCLEX-PN, like management of care and parenteral therapies. Aside from a few differences in specific concepts, you can expect to be assessed on your ability to integrate concepts from social, biological, and physical sciences in both versions of the NCLEX.
Because the NCLEX is a standardized test, some people struggle with its format. This isn't because they don't know the information, but because they're not comfortable with standardized testing. Fortunately, NCLEX prep programs can help with this as well. You can learn how to think critically, improve your time management skills, and learn how to identify important information from the data on the exam. Many students find this helps with reducing confusion and test-day jitters, which can help improve your performance on the exam.
What are the benefits of the different types of Syracuse NCLEX prep?
Choosing the right type of prep program depends largely on your goals and preferred learning styles. If you're someone who enjoys learning in a structured environment, you may want to consider registering for online Syracuse NCLEX prep classes. For this method of instruction, you will follow a prescribed curriculum taught by a professional instructor, covering the core concepts you need to understand for your upcoming NCLEX assessment. Lessons are conducted over our Live Learning Platform, using smart tools like video chat and virtual whiteboards to create an authentic learning environment. Best of all, you'll be learning with other classmates preparing for the same assessment. This means you can engage in classroom discussions, solving problems and sharing valuable information as you move through the lesson material.
Working with a private Syracuse NCLEX prep tutor gives you the chance to learn through custom-tailored lessons designed specifically for you. This is great for focusing on key areas of the assessment. Your tutor can create lessons designed to target your weaknesses or cover specific concepts like anatomy or biology. On top of that, you can even skip past content you already know, so that you're always getting the most out of your study time.

I am a certified family nurse practitioner who started out as an attendant and worked my way up through the field. I understand that where you start does not determine where you will finish. It takes a wise and strong individual to ask for help. The greatest mishandling of such requests is to view this as an inadequacy and fail to recognize the ability to be of service to others.
