I have completed some course work in Public Affairs at the University of Texas. I have tutored students in after school programs and believe that one-on-one tutoring has a great positive effect on a student’s focus and learning abilities. During my education and experience, I have learned that not everyone has the same learning curve and approach. I strive to meet students where they are and work with them to discover the learning method(s) that best suit them. Practice is an essential part of learning, thus I work to keep students engaged in learning activities outside of tutoring as well. In many cases, grades are considered extremely important by the student and the student’s school, thus I always encourage my students to ask me questions until we both are completely satisfied that they know what they are learning. As a counselor in training, I understand that students must feel engaged, motivated, and confident in order to work to their full potential. I utilize my skills to provide a safe, accepting, and positive environment in which they may thrive.
