I am a recent graduate of Drexel University, in which I obtained a BS in Biological Sciences with a concentration in organismal physiology. During my college years, I was a peer tutor who would help struggling classmates in many math and science subjects. I also served as a merit badge counselor in my Boy Scout troop, teaching scouts (ages 12-17) in subjects such as First Aid and Emergency Preparedness. These experiences inspired me to continue this passion, striving to make learning a fun, insightful, and a lifelong process while helping students learn in the easiest and most effective way possible. My favorite subject to teach is math, specifically the SAT/ACT math sections. As someone who values education and intellectual curiosity, I hope to impose this same philosophy on my students. In my 7+ months working with Varsity Tutors, I have found profound satisfaction in helping students to the top of their class and increasing their test scores. I am a very flexible tutor willing to work around students' schedules.

I am currently a medical resident at Brockton Hospital and will be continuing my training in Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital next summer. I received my medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed my undergraduate training at Northwestern University with a Bachelor's degree in Biology.While I love teaching all subjects, science is easily my favorite because it explains how everything works and is so applicable to the world around us. Not everyone loves science, but I have found that once a student gains the skills and confidence they need, science becomes a fascinating subject that stimulates their curiosity and excitement.Most of the students I tutor come to me for help with science or math; however, I have also helped students with standardized test prep and general study and time management skills. As a medical student, I've had plenty of personal experience with managing a rigorous course load, test anxiety, and time management. My experiences as a student help me relate to my students. Having been through the stressful college and medical school application process myself, I can give my students the advice and encouragement they need to be successful. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, scuba diving, baking, and playing tennis.

I have more than 13 years of experience co-teaching in self-contained classrooms teaching students with disabilities. Although I love and enjoy working with children of all ages, I've developed a deeper love for students with disabilities. I believe all children are deserving of equal and fair education and that it's my responsibility to equip students with the tools they need to be successful. I am a firm believer in education and how absolutely necessary it is for an improved quality of life. Although I tutor in core subjects, I am extremely passionate about English and Literature. Most of the tutoring services I provide are to assist students in elementary and middle school, however, I have much experience tutoring undergrad and graduate students as well. My first experience teaching, as a private tutor in my high school years, revealed the deep insecurities we all carry as students. To a 6th grader, the thought of algebra was so frightening and intimidating that any reasoning disintegrated. So, we followed the mantra Algebra is not magic, reminding the student in times when she faltered that she can think through a math problem. As long as she felt grounded enough to access her innate understanding of the world around us, she progressed. Later on, my extensive experience in the classroom as a Jumpstart Corps Member taught me to adapt my teaching style to each childs needs. While some learned better through mnemonics and letter-to-word associations, others preferred to process information and teach content back to me themselves. The greatest lesson I've learned as a tutor is to first step back and let a student tell me their goals, show me how they take in information, and point me in the direction of the challenging areas. With this information, I can help students build their own learning and testing strategy to accomplish their goals.

I graduated from UConn (Go Huskies!) in 2018 with a Bachelor of Sciences degree. While at UConn I majored in biological sciences and minored in physiology and neurobiology. This past year I got my Master of Sciences degree in biology from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA and am currently working at The Jackson Laboratory as a Clinical Genomic Technologist. I am also a licensed EMT and have been volunteering for two years now! My approach to tutoring has always been taking a practical approach and putting the concept in terms the student is able to understand. I have a lot of energy and love teaching, which are things I will bring to every student I tutor! In my spare time I enjoy working out, watching sports, and reading about new scientific advances.
