My name is Van An Tran. I graduated from University at Buffalo with a Biomedical Engineering major. During my time in colleges, I worked as a tutor and helped other students in pre-calculus and sciences, especially in physics. I have experience working as a tutor in two different colleges, one at Seattle Central College in Seattle, Washington State for one and a half year, one at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas for one semester. Most of students I have taught at these colleges are college levels. Moreover, I worked as part time tutor for Mathnasium Online which has base in Orlando, Florida. At this center, I tutored students in different levels, including: elementary school, middle school, and high school, and I mostly tutor them from pre-algebra to pre-calculus. Right now, I'm studying nursing at UCF. I'm confident that I can use my ability and knowledge to help other students improve in study.

I am a sophomore at Harvard University pursuing a concentration in computer science. I'm also interested in potentially going on to law school after my undergraduate studies. I have a wide range of interests but I spend most of my free time either reading, painting, listening to music or dragging my friends to interesting locations to take photographs. My favorite book genre is psychological thrillers and I like listening and singing along to almost all types of music.Through school, I have been successful in many academic endeavors, largely due to the variety of techniques I've learned over the years to help understand information. I've tutored students my age in subjects ranging from essay writing to standardized test preparation to math so those are going to be the primary subjects I plan on tutoring. I've found that often students struggle to understand material not because they are incapable, but because they aren't learning in ways that align with how they think. For example, I find that visual learners like myself like to see things in front of them, whereas auditory learners benefit much more from a verbal explanation. I also think that the most important part of learning is figuring things out by yourself, so my teaching style largely consists of providing support in addition to explanations and challenges that help my students learn to think creatively in order to solve problems.As a recent high school graduate, I understand the pressures associated with standardized test preparation and the importance of tests such as the ACT and SAT. I will be tutoring preparations for both of these as I myself have taken both tests twice and improved my score in addition to helping others improve their own scores.I think learning is an enjoyable process but can often feel tedious due to the straightforward nature of many traditional teaching styles. Since then, She has worked in a variety of positions ranging from teaching photography to high-risk youth, to developing technology workshops for blind and deaf customers at Apple, to working for higher education institutions, such as Harvard University. This summer she moved from Los Angeles back to the Boston area to pursue her Master's in Technology, Innovation, and Education at Harvard University. In addition to her experience with traditional subjects, she teaches yoga and has a passion for integrating technology into learning environments.

So many people struggle to understand the concepts, and I love seeing the light spark in their eyes as it all clicks in thier heads and they are able to understand and remember how to calculate what they have been struggling with. I have finished my freshman year of college at Grand Canyon University and am working towards getting my degree in Secondary Math Education. I have tutored a varity of ages from 2nd grade up to Freshman in college. When it comes to the subjects themselves I love teaching math, specifically Algebra 1. I like helping people with Algebra 1 because it is one of the biggest foundation stones in math and a solid understanding of it will help when trying to conquer subjects like trigonometry and calculus. I prefer to work alongside the student to help them understand something. I help my students with the specific issues that they have within individual concepts.

It brings me great joy to help transform a student from struggling to confident in Mathematics and Science.

I love working with kids and I really enjoy helping someone to understand something in a new manner. I think that learning some of the subjects can be boring but I know how to liven the material up in a manner that is relatable/ easier to understand. I have been a camp counselor in the past so I have some experience working with kids; I am very patient and I was always someone in school that could turn a long tedious problem/ information into something that I remembered forever.

I've taught at several universities overseas and in the United States. I've primarily taught Composition and Literature at the university level and have also taught English in High Schools and Middle Schools in the US, in Texas. For two years I taught English to Chinese students on an online platform, so I'm used to delivering course work in that format.I enjoy teaching Writing and helping students to prepare for their future academic careers by giving them a tool they can use for future essays, and exams.I've had a number of students return and thank me for helping them to be better prepared for their academic courses, allowing them to make better grades and be more confident in their abilities.Learning is something that never stops, we learn while in school, but we'll continue to learn about people and cultures around us as we interact with the world.
