In 2013 I graduated Colorado State University with a BA in German with a minor in English. I was fortunate enough to study abroad twice while at CSU; once in Freiburg Germany for six weeks, then for six months in Bamberg Germany. I recently received my Statement of Eligibility (SOE) from Colorado Department of Education to teach K-12 German, while in a program to earn my teacher licensure.I have always taught and tutored others; from my time in the Boy Scouts to captain of my hockey team I have helped a wide range of individuals learn. While abroad my German friend and I would meet twice a week on the bridge where we would talk about our cultures, I would ask him questions about the German language, and sometime he would give me a tours around town. After graduating college I spent three years in the white-collar, monotonous 8-5 work force while I contemplated what to do with my degree, until a few months ago when I decided to take a leap of faith and quit the routine to pursue my passion. Shortly thereafter Varsity Tutors offered me this opportunity and I knew this was the right decision for me - to help others.Aside from German I love history, a great catalyst in my interest in German, as well as music (Alligatoah, Cro and Bushido among my top German artists). I also enjoy literature and writing; I currently write for an online magazine focusing around Colorados electronic music scene.

I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School. I received my undergraduate degree - B.A. in English Literature and Secondary Education - from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. My previous teaching/tutoring experience includes a semester of student teaching 11th grade students in English at James B. Conant High School and engaging in one-on-one tutoring in Reading and Language Arts. Additionally, I do possess some experience working with ESL students. I am equally passionate about teaching Literature (including Reading and Writing skills) as well as Social Sciences to students. Though teaching writing skills can be challenging at times, I find the effort to be worthwhile because I love watching students experience a sense satisfaction and achievement when they finally master the ability to successfully express themselves through their writing. My teaching and tutoring experiences have taught me that everyone learns at their own pace and that it is essential that an instructor possess patience and understanding in order to enable a student to learn successfully. Additionally, I am a strong believer in the philosophy that "practice makes perfect." No amount of studying theory or concepts will provide a student with the insight as to their strengths or weaknesses in a particular subject that actually requires a student to actively apply those theories or concepts to a learning exercise and/or problem. When I am not attending to the obligations of work and home, I have a number of interests I like to dabble in. I am an art lover and enjoy checking out the various collections at museums both in nearby areas and abroad. I am an amateur photographer and in high school I learned how to develop black and white photos in the darkroom. Additionally, I took my first screen printing class last year and quickly fell in love with this particular medium. I am hoping to take an intermediate level of screen printing sometime in the near future. I also love to travel and have been fortunate enough to visit some great places over the past few years. Next on my list of countries to visit include Spain, Portugal and Italy. I am still an avid reader, my favorite genres being historical fiction and biographies.

I am currently finishing my last semester at Wayne State University, and will be graduating with a Bachelors in German and International Studies. I have tutoring experience with 8 and 9 year olds in Math and Science, as well as English tutoring for a 10 year old German student. The subjects I teach are German 1 to 4, and can help students on their way to learning a second language. My favorite subject to tutor is German, it has always been my favorite subject in school and I am always excited to teach others what I have learned. My various experiences studying abroad in Germany helped build my confidence in my speaking ability, and really gave me a new appreciation for the language.I believe that the best way to learn is to to teach. In my experience with tutoring so far, I have found that instructing a student is the best way to improve ones self. This is why much of my teaching strategies center around having the student teach the material back to me.When I'm not tutoring German I'm usually reading. I have a passion for literature of all kinds, and once I get talking about a good book it's hard for me to stop! Another hobby of mine is music, I play bass guitar and clarinet in my free time.I hope to be a help to anyone looking to improve their German speaking skills!

I am a career changer looking to fulfill my passion to teach and help students succeed. I tutored math for the past 3 years to 5th 8th grade and I am very familiar with the common core state standards. I also tutor pre-algebra.As a former corporate level chemist of 20 years, I find it easy to clearly define larger learning objectives and break them down into smaller learning objectives. While studying for my Master's degree in Secondary and Special Education, I learned a lot about adolescent behaviors and learning styles (tweens & teens). This helps me to stay focused on the learning goals while catering to the individual learning style of the student, and that is why I prefer to teach 1 to 1 and to small groups instead of traditional classroom teaching.I dont use a cookie cutter approach, rather I adapt methodologies that show positive responses from the individual student. I dont carry a large student load because I really enjoy delving into the subject matter that I am teaching or tutoring and observing how students thinks their way through problems. I build a rapport which helps me to remove the fear and get down to business. I believe it is very important to nurture students strengths because it can help them to face their weak areas with lower anxiety and a positive attitude. With routine and a little hard work, I will support students to strengthen those areas and build confidence.

I am a recent medical school graduate from St. Georges University School of Medicine. My Alma mater is Barry University from which I received a Bachelors of Science with a major in Biology. I first began tutoring when I was in college and have tutored a wide array of topics including AP Spanish, High School Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. My teaching style is a more inclusive approach so that my students are exposed to auditory, visual and tactile learning as appropriate for the subject. Tutoring has been an extremely rewarding experience and my goal for every student is that they feel confident, learn key organizational skills necessary for success, and excel in every aspect possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Arkansas Bar Exam tests competency across multiple areas, but students often struggle most with evidence rules, civil procedure, and the application of legal principles to complex fact patterns. Real Property and Criminal Procedure also present challenges because they require both memorization and the ability to spot issues quickly under time pressure. Personalized tutoring helps you identify your specific weak areas early and develop targeted strategies for each topic, rather than reviewing everything at the same pace.

Most candidates dedicate 2–4 months of focused study after law school graduation, though this varies based on your background and how well you performed in law school courses. The Arkansas Bar Exam comprises the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), Multistate Essay Examination (MEE), and Arkansas-specific components, so a structured study plan is essential. Working with a tutor helps you create an efficient study schedule that targets your weaknesses and maximizes your time, rather than studying broadly without a clear focus.

An effective Arkansas Bar Exam tutor combines deep knowledge of Arkansas-specific law, strong understanding of how the MBE and MEE are constructed, and experience helping candidates improve their scores. The best tutors teach you how to analyze questions strategically, manage test anxiety, and apply legal principles quickly under pressure—not just memorize rules. They also track your progress through practice exams and adjust instruction based on where you need the most help, giving you personalized feedback that generic study materials can't provide.

Bar exam prep courses follow a set curriculum for everyone, moving at a fixed pace regardless of your strengths and gaps. Personalized instruction with a tutor adapts to your learning style, focuses on your problem areas first, and provides one-on-one feedback on practice essays and MBE questions. This targeted approach helps many candidates improve faster and build confidence in weak areas, rather than sitting through material they've already mastered while falling behind in topics they find difficult.

Practice exams are critical—they simulate test conditions, build endurance for a long exam day, and reveal your knowledge gaps. When practicing, focus on understanding why you missed questions (not just getting the right answer), timing yourself to improve speed and accuracy, and identifying patterns in the topics that trip you up most. A tutor can review your practice exam results with you, pinpoint the root causes of errors, and help you develop strategies to avoid the same mistakes on test day.

Essay performance depends on issue spotting, applying law to facts precisely, and clear communication under time pressure. The Arkansas Bar Exam includes the MEE and state-specific essays, both of which reward thorough analysis and organized writing. Working with a tutor on timed essay practice, reviewing your essays for completeness and clarity, and learning the scoring rubric helps you understand what graders are looking for. Personalized feedback on each essay you write is far more valuable than studying model answers alone.

Score improvement depends on where you're starting and how consistently you study, but candidates often see measurable gains within 4–8 weeks of focused preparation. Many candidates who work with a tutor report stronger performance on their weakest subjects and increased confidence managing time during the exam. The goal isn't just passing—it's understanding the material deeply enough to apply it accurately and efficiently on test day, which tutoring addresses through targeted practice and strategic feedback.
