I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. I left Michigan for Nicaragua to work with a local nonprofit where I advocated for improved access to education in disenfranchised communities, managed an international volunteer program, and taught English as a Foreign Language to middle and high school students. I am an experienced tutor specializing in history and social studies subjects, as well as SAT Math. I'm a writer, artist and literary performer hailing from Brooklyn, NY. After recently graduating from Brown with a degree it Literary Arts, I'm back in my hometown making a name for myself by writing sound, sight and meta-religion. As a young, black woman from a Caribbean family who happens to be queer, I often focus (but don't limit) my work -- be it essays or songs -- around these intersecting identities and the ways they impact my interior and our exterior worlds.
