I have recently graduated from the Burnett Honors College at the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences. This upcoming year I am going to the Institute of Human Nutrition at Columbia University to get an MS in Nutrition and Metabolism.I have been a tutor for college students for 2 years at my university, teaching Organic Chemistry 1 and General Chemistry. I've also helped high school students with college admission essays, and with kindergartners in the Junior Achievement program.I enjoy working with children and finding creative ways for them to learn the material and to try to inspire a desire to learn by making learning fun for them. I also really enjoy teaching general chemistry, because I find the material fascinating. When I tutor a student, I don't just give them the answers, but rather I guide them to the answers. It is important that a student learns how to find the answers themselves so they do not become dependent on outside sources.

I am currently a student at the University of Missouri Kansas City as a part of their 6 year direct medical program. Medicine is my passion, and I'm thrilled that we are able to interview patients in the hospital and learn from them very early on in the process. The best teachers I've ever had have been more than just adults. They were passionate about the material they taught, and that passion was carried over to me. That is the main thing I hope to show students. A passion that will help them understand the material better. One of my favorite parts of tutoring is getting to know the students' learning style and how they think. The best part is that I have just recently taken all the subjects I have listed to tutor in. The information is fresh in my mind, so I can approach the content from many different angles to help the student understand the material.Outside of school, I spend a lot of my time at Buffalo Wild Wings, hands down the best wings I have ever eaten. Consequently, I also spend a lot of my time exercising - usually swimming or weightlifting.

"You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period." -The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)As a 140+ time author, hip-hop artist, poet, spoken word performer and content creator - if there is anything that I know about dreams, I would like to tell you that taking your own path isn't the easiest feat in the world.Society teaches us that we should have the picketed fence, the perfect family and the college degree for the spacious cubicle twenty-five miles away from where you live. Honestly, that is not everyone's vision. Some of us do not desire to be average. Some of us do not desire to settle for a life of mediocrity. Some of us do not desire to let the talents and ideas given to us from higher powers go to waste all because we wanted to please someone else by fitting ourselves into their boxes. The world is constantly evolving and us as a species, we must evolve with it.I believe that the freedom of expression, whether it be in the humanities, performing arts, activism or essential services will help us to evolve and become more accepting of our differences. I've had the pleasure to use my aptitude for writing and performing to touch souls and hearts from all walks of life.My passion to heal the traumas of those that came before me along with my own gives me the fuel that I need to continue being of service to others as a beacon of light to show you no matter what life throws at you, never let that stop you in your tracks!

I first began teaching during graduate school, when I took on a small group of piano students in my parents' living room. Over the course of four-and-and-half years, my voice and piano studio grew from three to forty students as young as five and as old as seventy. I also had the opportunity to teach Literature and Drama at a private elementary/middle school for one year. While worthwhile and fun, my experience in the classroom helped me realize that I prefer working with students in a private lesson setting, as it allows me to understand their personalities and preferred learning methods. One-on-one, I am also able to get to know the students in such a way that they feel comfortable asking questions and being themselves throughout the learning process. My formal education and training are in music, specifically classical singing, and I hold a B.A. in Music from Gettysburg College, and an M.M. in Vocal Performance from University of Wisconsin-Madison. While at Gettysburg College, I acted as a tutor for Music Theory I and II students. I also took a number of literature and creative writing courses, along with seven semesters of German and a semester studying Music and German in Vienna, Austria. My love of reading, writing, and languages stays with me, and I still enjoy writing short stories and blogs, reading fictional novels, and brushing up on my German and French skills via Duolingo. While my career is mainly focused in music and private teaching, I have a strong background in administrative and publicity work. As an organization nerd, I revel in arranging paperwork, color-coding calendars, and creating spreadsheets. In my free time, I enjoy cooking healthy meals, baking not so healthy treats, and spending time with friends and family.

I am a graduate of University of Nevada Las Vegas. I received my Masters of Education in Special Education. Since graduation, I have taught for the Clark County School district as a Cross Categorial Special Education Teacher, and as a Short and Long Term Substitute as of 2004. I also tutored during this time. While teaching for the school district as a Special Education teacher I spent time in the resource room and the general education settings, main streaming special needs students from the resource room to the general education room. And in the general education classroom I would co-teach with the general education teacher. This model of teaching is very beneficial for all students and teachers in the classroom. I teach and tutor a broad range of subjects, however the subject I enjoy teaching the most is math. Mostly due to it being a subject that is not gray, you either got the answer correct or you did not and it helps to teach logic. Over the years while tutoring and teaching I would design and implement lesson plans for several tutored students ranging from ages 8 to 18 if not designed and implemented lesson plans for five high school resource/general classroom math classes. I also would organize, track and implement study materials for all my students daily. My teaching philosophy is to be thorough, versatile and try multiple techniques so to help students find their own learning style. Each student is unique in the way they learn and I feel I need to tailor teaching strategies and techniques to the students needs. When I'm not teaching I spend my time caring for my family if not enjoying the things that interest me such as health and travel. Or one of the many hobbies I have like, writing, reading, art and cooking.

Frequently Asked Questions
The South Carolina Bar Exam typically tests proficiency across multiple subject areas, with many candidates finding evidence law, professional responsibility, and complex procedural questions particularly demanding. These sections require not just memorization of rules, but the ability to apply nuanced legal principles to fact patterns under time pressure. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction allows tutors to identify your specific weak areas and focus on strategies for tackling the most difficult question types you encounter.
South Carolina's bar exam includes multiple-choice and essay components that test both the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) subjects and South Carolina-specific law, particularly around state court procedures and local rules of professional conduct. The South Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct have some distinctions from the ABA Model Rules, which means candidates need targeted preparation for state-specific content. Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who understand these unique requirements and can help you navigate both the national components and state-specific materials effectively.
An effective South Carolina Bar Exam tutor should have deep knowledge of both MBE subjects and South Carolina-specific law, understand the structure and timing of the exam, and be able to diagnose where you're losing points—whether it's in knowledge gaps, test-taking strategy, or time management. They should also be familiar with the types of scenarios tested on South Carolina essays and able to teach you how to structure answers that address local procedure and ethics. When you connect with a tutor through Varsity Tutors, you're matched with someone who has relevant bar exam experience and can tailor their approach to your learning style and goals.
Most candidates benefit from 200-300+ hours of dedicated preparation, though the exact amount depends on your law school performance, familiarity with the subject matter, and how efficiently you study. Bar preparation typically spans 8-12 weeks of focused work, and the key is not just volume but quality—targeted practice with real exam questions, timed practice essays, and focused review of weak areas. Personalized tutoring can help you study smarter by identifying gaps faster and giving you feedback on practice questions and essays, which can increase your preparation efficiency and confidence heading into test day.
With personalized 1-on-1 instruction, you should see improvement in your practice test scores, particularly in sections where you struggled most, as well as increased speed and accuracy on timed essay questions. Many candidates report feeling more confident identifying legal issues, structuring essay answers according to South Carolina preferences, and managing test anxiety. Your tutor will track your progress through practice questions and essays, helping you monitor improvement and adjust your study strategy as needed to ensure you're ready on exam day.
Yes—South Carolina essays have specific expectations around issue spotting, legal analysis, and attention to state-specific procedure and ethics rules. A tutor can review your practice essays, provide detailed feedback on your analysis and organization, and teach you how to structure answers that clearly address the relevant law and facts. Repeated feedback and revision with an expert is one of the most effective ways to strengthen your writing under exam conditions, and personalized instruction allows for real-time correction and targeted practice on the types of scenarios most likely to appear on your exam.
Bar prep courses provide comprehensive coverage of all tested subjects and practice materials, but they're designed for large groups with a one-size-fits-all approach. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring focuses specifically on your gaps and learning style—your tutor can spend extra time on topics you find difficult, adapt explanations to how you learn best, and provide customized feedback on your practice answers. Many candidates use both bar prep and tutoring together, using the course for foundational content and a tutor for targeted help on their weakest areas, which can lead to more efficient preparation and higher confidence.
