I have recently graduated from the Burnett Honors College at the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences. This upcoming year I am going to the Institute of Human Nutrition at Columbia University to get an MS in Nutrition and Metabolism.I have been a tutor for college students for 2 years at my university, teaching Organic Chemistry 1 and General Chemistry. I've also helped high school students with college admission essays, and with kindergartners in the Junior Achievement program.I enjoy working with children and finding creative ways for them to learn the material and to try to inspire a desire to learn by making learning fun for them. I also really enjoy teaching general chemistry, because I find the material fascinating. When I tutor a student, I don't just give them the answers, but rather I guide them to the answers. It is important that a student learns how to find the answers themselves so they do not become dependent on outside sources.

I am currently a student at the University of Missouri Kansas City as a part of their 6 year direct medical program. Medicine is my passion, and I'm thrilled that we are able to interview patients in the hospital and learn from them very early on in the process. The best teachers I've ever had have been more than just adults. They were passionate about the material they taught, and that passion was carried over to me. That is the main thing I hope to show students. A passion that will help them understand the material better. One of my favorite parts of tutoring is getting to know the students' learning style and how they think. The best part is that I have just recently taken all the subjects I have listed to tutor in. The information is fresh in my mind, so I can approach the content from many different angles to help the student understand the material.Outside of school, I spend a lot of my time at Buffalo Wild Wings, hands down the best wings I have ever eaten. Consequently, I also spend a lot of my time exercising - usually swimming or weightlifting.

"You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period." -The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)As a 140+ time author, hip-hop artist, poet, spoken word performer and content creator - if there is anything that I know about dreams, I would like to tell you that taking your own path isn't the easiest feat in the world.Society teaches us that we should have the picketed fence, the perfect family and the college degree for the spacious cubicle twenty-five miles away from where you live. Honestly, that is not everyone's vision. Some of us do not desire to be average. Some of us do not desire to settle for a life of mediocrity. Some of us do not desire to let the talents and ideas given to us from higher powers go to waste all because we wanted to please someone else by fitting ourselves into their boxes. The world is constantly evolving and us as a species, we must evolve with it.I believe that the freedom of expression, whether it be in the humanities, performing arts, activism or essential services will help us to evolve and become more accepting of our differences. I've had the pleasure to use my aptitude for writing and performing to touch souls and hearts from all walks of life.My passion to heal the traumas of those that came before me along with my own gives me the fuel that I need to continue being of service to others as a beacon of light to show you no matter what life throws at you, never let that stop you in your tracks!

I first began teaching during graduate school, when I took on a small group of piano students in my parents' living room. Over the course of four-and-and-half years, my voice and piano studio grew from three to forty students as young as five and as old as seventy. I also had the opportunity to teach Literature and Drama at a private elementary/middle school for one year. While worthwhile and fun, my experience in the classroom helped me realize that I prefer working with students in a private lesson setting, as it allows me to understand their personalities and preferred learning methods. One-on-one, I am also able to get to know the students in such a way that they feel comfortable asking questions and being themselves throughout the learning process. My formal education and training are in music, specifically classical singing, and I hold a B.A. in Music from Gettysburg College, and an M.M. in Vocal Performance from University of Wisconsin-Madison. While at Gettysburg College, I acted as a tutor for Music Theory I and II students. I also took a number of literature and creative writing courses, along with seven semesters of German and a semester studying Music and German in Vienna, Austria. My love of reading, writing, and languages stays with me, and I still enjoy writing short stories and blogs, reading fictional novels, and brushing up on my German and French skills via Duolingo. While my career is mainly focused in music and private teaching, I have a strong background in administrative and publicity work. As an organization nerd, I revel in arranging paperwork, color-coding calendars, and creating spreadsheets. In my free time, I enjoy cooking healthy meals, baking not so healthy treats, and spending time with friends and family.

I am a graduate of University of Nevada Las Vegas. I received my Masters of Education in Special Education. Since graduation, I have taught for the Clark County School district as a Cross Categorial Special Education Teacher, and as a Short and Long Term Substitute as of 2004. I also tutored during this time. While teaching for the school district as a Special Education teacher I spent time in the resource room and the general education settings, main streaming special needs students from the resource room to the general education room. And in the general education classroom I would co-teach with the general education teacher. This model of teaching is very beneficial for all students and teachers in the classroom. I teach and tutor a broad range of subjects, however the subject I enjoy teaching the most is math. Mostly due to it being a subject that is not gray, you either got the answer correct or you did not and it helps to teach logic. Over the years while tutoring and teaching I would design and implement lesson plans for several tutored students ranging from ages 8 to 18 if not designed and implemented lesson plans for five high school resource/general classroom math classes. I also would organize, track and implement study materials for all my students daily. My teaching philosophy is to be thorough, versatile and try multiple techniques so to help students find their own learning style. Each student is unique in the way they learn and I feel I need to tailor teaching strategies and techniques to the students needs. When I'm not teaching I spend my time caring for my family if not enjoying the things that interest me such as health and travel. Or one of the many hobbies I have like, writing, reading, art and cooking.

I earned a Bachelor’s of Science from Dominican College in Blauvelt, NY. I currently hold a Pennsylvania Elementary Education Teaching License. I have 7 years of teaching experience, and 10+ years of experience working with children of all ages. For the past 6 years I have been a Pre-Kindergarten teacher in Pittsburgh. My vast experience of working with children has provided me with the needed skills to help students grow academically. I have worked with students of many ability levels, including those with specific learning needs. As a teacher and tutor it is important for me to understand how the student learns and to introduce them to a variety of ways of learning so they are able to reach their full academic potential. My patient personality has proved beneficial while working with young students. All students learn at their own pace and I believe it is important for any teacher to respect that pace.My favorite elementary subjects to tutor are phonics, reading, and writing. Since I was little I have loved reading and I encourage my students to allow themselves to time to read every chance they get.My philosophy on education is student-centered with a focus on the teacher and student forming a cooperative relationship in order to find the best learning method for the student. Each student learns differently and it is important to me as an educator to find the best method of learning for every student I encounter. While not teaching or tutoring, I love spending time with my 10 month old son and husband! Exploring new things in Pittsburgh is always something I enjoy doing. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, along with DIY projects for our new house we bought in June!

Frequently Asked Questions
Louisiana Bar Exam candidates typically struggle most with the Civil Law components, which are unique to Louisiana's legal system and differ significantly from common law found in other states. Additionally, many test-takers find the Multi-State Bar Examination (MBE) sections on Contracts, Torts, and Criminal Procedure challenging due to their breadth and the high volume of case law to master. The Louisiana-specific essay questions (MEE) also present difficulties because they require applicants to synthesize both civil and common law principles, often within tight time constraints. Personalized tutoring can help you identify your specific weak areas and develop targeted strategies to address them before exam day.
Louisiana's bar exam is distinctive because it's one of the few U.S. states with a civil law tradition rather than a common law system, which means the substantive law you need to master differs significantly from most other states. While the MBE covers common law subjects, you'll also need to deeply understand Louisiana's civil code, succession law, and unique property law concepts. Additionally, Louisiana's essay questions emphasize civil law analysis, requiring you to apply different legal reasoning and writing approaches than you'd use on other state bar exams. A tutor experienced with Louisiana's specific requirements can help you bridge these differences and prepare effectively for both components of the exam.
The best tutors for Louisiana Bar Exam preparation have personal experience passing the Louisiana bar themselves and understand both the civil law and common law components of the exam. They should be familiar with the Louisiana State Bar's specific format, essay question patterns, and grading rubrics, and able to provide detailed feedback on your written work. Look for tutors who take a diagnostic approach—assessing your starting point and creating a customized study plan rather than using a one-size-fits-all method. Varsity Tutors connects you with experienced tutors who can provide the personalized instruction and strategic guidance you need to succeed on this challenging, state-specific exam.
Most bar exam candidates benefit from 2-4 months of focused preparation, though the timeline depends on your background, whether you attended law school in Louisiana, and your starting performance level. Those with a strong foundation in Louisiana civil law may need less time than those coming from common law backgrounds. Personalized tutoring accelerates your preparation by helping you focus your study time on areas where you're weakest rather than spending time on concepts you already understand well. Your tutor can help you create a realistic timeline based on diagnostic assessments and keep you accountable to your study schedule as exam day approaches.
Yes—essay writing is one of the most improvable components of the Louisiana Bar Exam through personalized instruction. A tutor can teach you the specific organizational structure and analytical framework that Louisiana bar graders expect, help you practice time management so you can complete essays within the allotted time, and provide detailed feedback on your substantive law analysis and legal writing. Many test-takers see significant score improvements in their essays after working with a tutor who reviews their practice essays, identifies patterns in their mistakes, and coaches them on stronger approaches. Consistent practice with expert feedback is one of the most effective ways to boost your essay performance.
A balanced approach typically involves allocating roughly 60% of your study time to Louisiana-specific civil law topics and 40% to MBE common law subjects, though this ratio can shift based on your individual strengths and weaknesses. Many successful candidates use the first month to build a strong civil law foundation, then integrate MBE practice throughout their remaining preparation time. Your tutor can help you create a customized study schedule that gives appropriate weight to both components and ensures you're reinforcing connections between civil and common law concepts where they overlap. Strategic sequencing of your study topics can also improve retention and help you see how Louisiana law compares to and contrasts with the common law principles tested on the MBE.
Effective progress tracking involves regularly taking full-length or timed practice exams under realistic conditions and monitoring both your overall score and your performance in specific subject areas and question types. Your tutor can help you interpret these results, identifying which topics are improving and which still need work, and adjust your study plan accordingly. Beyond practice test scores, you should also track the quality of your essay writing through detailed feedback rubrics and note your improvement in speed and accuracy over time. Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who will monitor your progress systematically and celebrate meaningful improvements while keeping you focused on areas that still need development before exam day.
