About Me

As a soon-to-be physician, I have vast experience talking to patients about complicated medical conditions, treatments, medications and various diseases. It is my job to make sure that they understand what I am talking about in a way that allows them to explain it to others. I believe this is one of my best qualities to work as a tutor; the ability to mold concepts to in a way that others are able to comprehend them with ease. I have had many years of teaching experience, which has varied in many ways throughout my life. When I was a teenager, I worked as a swimming instructor for children ages 3 to 12. This allowed me to foster a specific teaching technique where I patiently worked with my students to dissipate their fears (like the fear of water), and build the trust needed for them to allow me to explain very complicated concepts in a way that they'll understand it. I used this technique later in college while I tutored fellow classmates and other college students various subjects, including: math, chemistry, physics, Spanish and biology. After college, I worked as a middle school and high school tutor, teaching math and sciences to children in East Orange, New Jersey. In addition to my teaching experience, I graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a GPA of 3.8 and a bachelors in both Chemistry and Spanish. As a chemistry major, I feel confident teaching chemistry and organic chemistry. As a medical student, I also feel confident teaching MCAT preparation, physiology and anatomy. I am a native Spanish speaker and studied Latin American and Spanish-Language literature extensively, so I am very comfortable teaching Spanish for any level of proficiency. Lastly, as a native Spanish speaker I also feel comfortable teaching English-as-a-second-Language (ESL) as well as TOEFL preparation.

Q&A with Didier

I believe that everyone has a different way of learning. What works for one person does not always work for someone else. What I like to do is get to know my student and use analogies and anecdotes that are relatable to them, and that would allow them to understand difficult concepts with ease.
