For years I immersed myself in a world of arguments ranging from the politically concrete to the philosophically abstract. Three and a half years ago I had a professor at the University of Michigan who opened up the life changing power of literature and after that I began passionately pursuing language for its beautiful and poetic qualities. Since then, I have finished a degree in English literature as well as spending substantial time abroad. My experiences as a traveler and foreigner have left me astounded at the diversity of ways to cultivate the mind and now I am a regular yoga practitioner and meditator. I find myself using all of the different skills and habits I have learned through those various experiences each day. Knowing the inner workings of reason and argumentation, poetic and literary language, and how to focus and calm the mind all complement one another. Whatever I teach you, it will be a way of thinking. Certainly we will deal with content; one can never learn a process without something to apply it to. Having me as a tutor though will be more valuable than a difference made on the grade for a single assignment. I will help you to see the larger principles at work in whatever you are grappling with.
