I think that seeking help where you are not clear is an important part of the independent learning process and it helps build confidence. I enjoy being part of that process of helping someone become more confident in what they are learning. I have an MBA from the University of Akron where I majored in Finance as a Fulbright scholar. I graduated in the top 15 percent of my graduating class with Financial Management Association honors. I love helping others learn and sharing my knowledge with them. During my time at the University of Akron I was president of the Fulbright Student Association. I also served as secretary of the Cross-Cultural Student Association. I love working with people from different parts of the world. I tutored students privately during my time in graduate school. My focus is on Corporate Finance. Some of my favourite subjects are the theory of the firm, portfolio theory (capital allocation to risky assets, optimal risky portfolios, risk and return); the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM); security analysis (macroeconomic and industry analysis, equity valuation models and financial statement analysis).I currently work as an analyst at a small business development agency. Some of my hobbies include hiking, travelling, long distance biking and burning the dance floor to some salsa or bachata beats. If you cannot find me doing any of the above, then you are most likely to find me baking a pie at my best friend's bakery downtown. I cannot declare myself a foodie but when I travel to other cities, I think the best way to explore is by eating my way through the entire city and then burning off the calories by walking through museums and galleries. One of my side gigs during graduate school was modelling and acting. The skills that I learnt during those days helped me learn how to adapt to my students' learning methods and adjust my teaching style from one student to the next. I love to start off a tutoring session by hearing out the student and what their background is. This helps me gauge how much scope we have to cover to have the student fully confident in the subject matter. I always encourage students to come prepared with questions including the so-called "silly questions because those are, more often than not, the breakthrough questions that help students piece everything together.
