About Me
Hello! I'm Dylan Cabrera, your dedicated English Literature tutor, with a Bachelor's degree in English from Loyola University Chicago and further studies in the Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse MA program at DePaul University. My tutoring experience has equipped me with the skills to support students in a range of subjects, including ACT Reading, AP English, and creative writing, among others. I believe in fostering a supportive learning environment where each student can thrive, utilizing personalized instruction tailored to their unique needs.
Hobbies & Interests
In addition to my academic pursuits, I have a diverse range of interests and hobbies that enrich both my personal and professional life. I have a passion for the arts, particularly photography and filmmaking. These interests fuel my creativity and enhance my ability to integrate artistic concepts into my tutoring sessions, thereby making learning more engaging and meaningful for my students. Photography allows me to capture and interpret the world from unique perspectives, appreciating the inherent beauty in everyday moments. Filmmaking, which encompasses the skills of directing, shooting, and editing, enables me to craft compelling visual narratives that resonate emotionally. These artistic endeavors complement my love for literature, as both involve the art of storytelling and evoking deep emotional responses. Creative writing is another passion of mine. I enjoy crafting stories and exploring new worlds through fiction and poetry. This love for creative writing not only hones my own skills but also helps me guide my students in finding their own unique voices and expressing themselves through their writing. In my spare time, I am an avid reader, constantly seeking to broaden my literary horizons and stay informed about new developments in literature. I also have a keen interest in philosophy, sociology, social justice, and politics. These disciplines provide profound insights into human behavior, societal structures, and ethical considerations. I strive to incorporate these perspectives into my academic work, encouraging my students to think critically about the world around them and to understand the broader context of the literature we explore. My interests allow me to bring a unique and well-rounded approach to tutoring. By blending artistic creativity with philosophical and sociological insights, I aim to inspire my students not only to achieve academic excellence but also to become thoughtful, compassionate individuals who are confident in expressing themselves.
