- My teaching philosophy centers on connecting the academic content to students' interests, making their learning feel engaging and relevant.
About Me
My name is Sean Slowik, and I hold a Master's in Teaching from George Fox University and a Bachelor's in History from Washington State University. With years of experience in tutoring and classroom instruction, I specialize in writing and social studies, including US History and World History. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning as we go through the process. My passion for education is driven by the joy of helping students discover the fascinating narratives of history and develop their ability to express themselves through their writing skills. For extracurriculars I have experience teaching chess and public speaking strategies, further enhancing my ability to engage with students across diverse subjects. I hope to have the chance to work with your students sometime soon and help them grow academically!
Hobbies & Interests
When I am not teaching and involved in the educational field I love to enjoy the beautiful nature of Oregon by hiking and sleeping out in the woods on the ground (camping). However I also like to be a bit of homebody at times and enjoy some good books and movies at home with my wife. Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are some of my favorite series, I recently just got married on May the 4th, and I enjoy a wide variety of genres in different media. I've only ever had an Xbox ever since the early 2000's but have just recently started dabbling with PlayStation.
