As a 20+-year editor and trade journalist with a Master's degree in Writing and Publishing from DePaul University, I have extensive experience with a range of subjects, including AP English Language and Composition, Creative Writing, Elementary School Reading, Essay Writing, and Research Writing. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages students to express their ideas in order to find their voice and develop their writing skills. I believe in tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each student, helping them build confidence in order to achieve their current and future academic goals. I am dedicated to nurturing a love for literature, effective communication, and research literacy in my students, and I enjoy incorporating creative activities that make learning engaging and enjoyable. In my free time, I enjoy reading everything from autobiographies to historical fiction and fantasy, writing creatively for publication in various literary journals, and conducting a book club for elementary school children at a local school.
