Linguistics has given me a deep understanding of how language is learned and the different challenges students face, allowing me to tailor my teaching style to each student's individual needs rather than relying on a one size fits all approach. With reading, I focus on building strong comprehension skills, confidence, and a genuine enjoyment and understanding of the text. In Mandarin, my study abroad experience in Taiwan and overall knowledge of Chinese language studies allows me to support students with pronunciation, tones, vocabulary, and cultural context, while also empathizing with the challenges of learning a second language. Above all, I am highly dedicated to seeing my students succeed. I closely track progress and help students advocate for themselves and their learning experience. I adapt new strategies as needed and strive to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and growing at their own pace.

I am interested in language acquisition and development. Additionally, I play violin and I am an artist in my free time.
