Much of my time is taken up as a youth group leader, helping preteens open up and mature as they become young adults. As for music, I'm a classically trained pianist and a singer with my own album out and a European tour under my belt. Education-wise, I'm a pre-medical student hoping to graduate soon with a Bio B.S. Degree and minors in English and Chemistry. I'm also involved in Stress research at Seton Hall University and I'm the Vice President of the AED Pre-Health Honor Society. After volunteering on a medical team in Ghana in the summer of 2013, I now aspire to become a pediatrician for under-served populations. I graduated from Emory University with a degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and Visual Arts, but I rather than apply to medical school straight away, I opted to take a few gap years. Currently, I am a graduate student at Columbia University in the process of completing a Master of Science in Human Nutrition, and when I return to Rhode Island this fall, I plan to work in labs conducting clinical research projects. I am excited to tutor students in biology, critique essays for grammar and organization, and provide constructive feedback for any visual art or creative writing pieces.

I was born in Sichuan, China and moved to U.S when I was 18. I finished my undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa in double majors of Communication Studies and Japanese. Currently, I am a graduate student in the department of Communication Management in USC. I am specialized in tutoring Mandarin Chinese not only I am a native speaker, also I have four years experience of learning Japanese and one year of speaking basic Korean. I also had tutoring experience in my undergraduate as a hired language tutor.My goal is to create a comfortable studying zone for my students. Depending on every individual need, my teaching technique will also be different. For students who only want to pass the language exam, I will try to meet with them before their exam in order to strengthen their memory. For students who are highly interested in Chinese culture, I will give them some background of Chinese history and culture so as to expand their interests.In my spare time, I like to go yoga class, watch movie, shopping, cooking, and read books. I graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in international studies, focusing on global health and Japanese language. In the past I have taught kids ages 4-17 Karate, including kids with disabilities and kids from a special program called Kids Kicking Cancer. In my Junior year of college I lived in Tokyo for a year going to Waseda University, and even held a job teaching karate to Japanese students there as well. While I tutor several subjects, including math and english, I am most passionate about tutoring in Japanese. My language journey in Japanese was really rewarding and having achieved fluency in just about 3 years, I have many tips on how best to learn and retain Japanese. I'll give you supplemental resources outside of your classes or personals studies like pop culture, ways you can speak to real native speakers, and fun challenges to make your learning experience fun and memorable. Outside of tutoring, I like to play sports (rugby, basketball) and play the piano :)
