Hi everyone, I am a recent graduate in Biochemistry and Africana studies from Knox College in Galesburg. I have about 3 years of tutoring experiences in biology as well as other subjects as well. I also love to paint and will be working on finishing a few pieces soon!

I graduated with highest honors from Texas A&M University and received a B.S. in Forestry and Ecological Restoration. While in college, I worked for three years as a tutor for the A&M Athletics Department, tutoring in multiple math subjects, biology, chemistry, ecology, botany, history, English, and forestry. I spent one semester working in the writing lab, helping students write and edit their essays. I also worked as a teaching assistant for two years, creating my own lectures and exams while leading lab experiments for classes of up to 15 students at a time.I currently work as an environmental educator for Plano ISD, leading classes of up to 10 students of ages 6-12. I've been tutoring through Varsity for over a year, working with students of all ages and helping them with a wide variety of subjects. My strongest subjects to teach are science and math, and I also have a lot of experience helping students prepare for college entrance exams like the SAT and ACT.Teaching is a highly rewarding experience for me. I understand that everyone has a different learning style, and I strive to always adapt my teaching style to the needs of my students. After years of working with students who struggle with learning what they consider to be boring subjects, I've amassed countless creative techniques to help students better process difficult information and retain the most knowledge. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management as well as a Professional Human Resources Certification (PHR). Currently, I am pursuing my Masters's degree in Human Resources Management at Florida International University (FIU). I have a passion for teaching and have been a volunteer teacher for many years. I also have many years of experience training and teaching HR topics. I take pride in preparing for my classes and personalizing them for each individual's learning style. My goal is to bring the lesson to life for my students in a way that's practical and gives a real-world understanding of the subject matter. I was never a straight A student, in fact, I struggled to get B's. It was never a problem with the content I was learning but the context in which that material was presented. After learning about the many different learning profiles that exist in the classroom I realized that students like myself were being left out to dry. I decided three years into my first college experience that I wanted to become an educator. Transferring to Wright State University and enrolling in their Teacher Preparation program is undoubtedly the best decision I have ever made. This upcoming fall I will be working in the Dayton Public School district to help students who, like myself, who struggle with "playing school."Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading science-fiction and taking hikes at the many metro parks in the South Dayton area. I occasionally work at a locally owned running store on the weekends and even do some coaching in the fall and spring. I have spent most of my life in Dayton but also moved around a lot as my father was in the military. I hope to move and teach in Philadelphia some day in the future but for now, my focus is on revitalizing the school system in Dayton.

I will help your student learn to enjoy the process, so he or she is better able to excel!I am originally from Los Angeles and have a BA in Psychology from Pomona College. I'm also a singer and musician and recently went back to school to pursue a graduate degree in Music Education. My long term goal is to become an Elementary or Middle School Choir Director.

Now he is taking calculus and is doing well. My previous experience as a tutor and my daily life as a student has enabled me to develop not only specific skills to be the best tutor, but also to be patient and understanding. This is because I have lived the frustration of not understanding a subject myself. This pushes me to read and go find the help that I need. Living this myself makes me devoted and goal oriented, and motivates me to help my students even more. I want to get my PhD in I.O. in the future and develop more and better skills to be the best tutor that I can ever be.
