Education should be alive. My object as a writing tutor is to help my clients harness the power of language and reason in their assignments. I aim to stimulate independent critical thought and to help my clients produce clear, organized, and well-informed writing. By supporting students in the writing process, I assist them in discovering and refining their own ideas, and then developing, organizing, and structuring them properly according to the assignment. I'm a creative writing student and a passionate reader. I look forward to helping students grow as writers and produce high-quality projects.

Elementary School Math Tutor • +10 Subjects

After graduating Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, OH in 2016, I am currently a sophomore at Lipscomb University. I am working towards getting my Bachelor's degree in social work, with plans to obtain a Master's in school counseling. For a year and a half, I spent two days a week with a middle school-aged student. I helped her complete homework and study for tests of various subjects, including math and Spanish. My favorite subject to tutor is definitely Spanish because it has always been my favorite subject in school. It was something that I always enjoyed, and I loved to learn more about the language. With tutoring, I like to give the student a chance to show me what he or she knows first, so I can get an idea of what level the student is working at. If they are struggling in specific areas, I will work closely with them until it seems like they are starting to understand the content. If they just need a push in the right direction, I will be there to do that, but if they need content retaught to them, then I will provide that help as well.I don't know if I have any "hobbies," per se, but I enjoy baking, playing board games with my family and friends. I also enjoy traveling and becoming familiar with new places. I was raised to love baseball, and it's on my bucket list to visit every MLB park in America!I would describe myself as patient, and laid-back. I am simply here to help students where they're struggling, I am not here to get frustrated when someone may not understand the material! I am hopeful and confident that anyone can learn, but we just all learn differently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not necessarily. Many students benefit from personalized tutoring that bridges both economics and French language skills simultaneously. A tutor can help you understand core microeconomic principles—like supply and demand, elasticity, and consumer behavior—while building your French vocabulary in context. This dual-focus approach often makes both subjects easier to grasp, since you're learning economics concepts while naturally acquiring subject-specific terminology in French.

Graphs are fundamental to microeconomics, and a tutor can break down how to interpret and create them while explaining the French terminology you'll encounter. Rather than just memorizing curve shifts, a skilled tutor helps you see the underlying patterns—why prices change, how quantity demanded responds to price changes, and what elasticity really means. With personalized instruction, you'll build the conceptual foundation to tackle more complex graphs like indifference curves and production possibility frontiers with confidence.

Word problems require translating real-world scenarios into economic models and math. A tutor can teach you a systematic problem-solving strategy: identify what's being asked, define your variables, determine which microeconomic principle applies (marginal analysis, optimization, market equilibrium), set up your equations, and solve step-by-step. The key is understanding why each step matters, not just mechanically plugging in numbers. Regular practice with guided feedback builds the pattern recognition skills you need to tackle unfamiliar problems confidently.

Microeconomics uses calculus concepts—particularly derivatives and optimization—to find marginal costs, marginal revenue, and profit-maximizing quantities. You don't need to be a calculus expert, but understanding the connection between concepts is crucial. A tutor helps you see that the derivative of a cost function gives you marginal cost, which is more than just a mathematical operation—it's an economic tool with real meaning. This conceptual bridge transforms calculus from abstract procedures into useful economic analysis.

Introductory courses often emphasize graphical analysis and intuition (supply-demand, consumer choice, firm behavior), while intermediate courses dive deeper into mathematical optimization and market structures. Some textbooks prioritize behavioral economics, while others focus on traditional neoclassical models. A tutor familiar with your specific course can align instruction with your curriculum, whether you're using calculus-based or algebra-based approaches. This alignment ensures your tutoring directly supports your coursework and exams.

Math and economics anxiety often stem from feeling lost during lectures or struggling with unfamiliar concepts presented too quickly. Personalized tutoring breaks material into manageable pieces, lets you ask questions freely, and gives you repeated practice in a low-pressure environment. As you build understanding—seeing why concepts connect rather than memorizing formulas—confidence naturally grows. Many students find that mastering one tricky concept (like elasticity or consumer surplus) creates momentum that carries through the rest of the course.

In microeconomics, showing work demonstrates your economic reasoning, not just math skills. You should clearly state your assumptions, identify which economic principle you're applying (marginal analysis, equilibrium conditions, etc.), write out your setup, and explain your conclusion in economic terms. A tutor can help you develop the habit of annotating graphs, explaining each algebraic step, and connecting your math back to the economic story. This approach earns partial credit on exams and, more importantly, deepens your understanding by forcing you to articulate your thinking.
