About Me
I completed my predoctoral internship at the Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology at Boston Medical Center and my postdoctoral fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Between my formal training, I have worked in a variety of contexts including the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, the Georgia Public Defenders Standards Council and the Center for Supportive Schools in Princeton, NJ. After I established my professional identity, I returned to education to pursue graduate work at the University of South Carolina. While I was in South Carolina, I developed a love for teaching SPSS and APA-writing style and tutoring college students in personal statement writing as these are the skills that helped me to survive graduate school. I would describe my teaching philosophy as strength-based in that through listening to my clients, I develop a picture of what they are good at and draw upon that to build their confidence while supplementing their knowledge base with my own. Outside of academia, I enjoy bike riding, travel and pop culture. My friends consider me to be pretty out-of the-box, but they also know I am results-driven and loyal to the core.
