About Me

I am a recently retired teacher. I have been a reading and math teacher in 3rd grade and this was the grade that I enjoyed the most teaching in my 20-year career. Although I started as a high school teacher, I found my niche in teaching younger children. I am also passionate about teaching reading because I believe that any student can be a good reader with proper techniques and consistency. I have worked with dyslexic students and have been able to improve their reading scores to several levels. I have also developed different tools for teaching math. I believe that there are different approaches to teaching a math concept and a good teacher should be able to pivot to a different technique very quickly when one does not work. I am also very familiar with standardized testing in Reading and Math. I have consistently tutored after school for test prep and can provide that targeted help for your child who struggles to pass these tests. Now that I am retired, I am free to pursue my other passions such as painting, traveling, reading and personal finance. But there is still that teacher in me that wants every child to succeed in school.
