- My love for working with students began when I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
About Me
I originally wanted to become a nutritionist, but during my freshman year, I started volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. They had a tutoring program that I joined and worked with elementary students 1:1 and in small groups. It was here that I discovered my passion for working with and teaching students. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Elementary Education. Soon after, I moved to California where I taught kindergarten for two years and 2nd grade for four years. During this time, I also worked with a non-profit called Generations United where I was the after school teacher coordinator and tutored students from kindergarten to fifth grade. I also have a Master's degree in Educational Administration from San Francisco State University. In my 7th year of education, I was an Assistant Principal. In this role, I spent a lot of time subbing in classrooms ranging from pre-school to 8th grade. I'm experienced working with elementary and middle school students. I have taught all subjects at the elementary school level. My passion is for students to realize their potential and believe that they "can do it". Students are capable when they are motivated to learn. I believe in using a lot of visuals to help students learn and modeling so students can understand a concept better.
Hobbies & Interests
Some of my interests include cooking, reading, strength training, and hiking with my husband and two dogs.
