About Me
Having tutored students from grade school to high school in English and math, I understand the importance of adapting to each student's unique strengths and learning style. In my tutoring, I focus on building critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills to equip students with skills that can be used outside the classroom. Currently, I am an associate degree student in computer science with a strong understanding of logical reasoning and problem-solving analysis. My tutoring subjects include English Language Arts, Algebra, Geometry, and higher-level mathematics consisting of functions, graphing, and systems of equations. I enjoy tutoring various subjects but, most particularly, mathematics since I have a passion for teaching students using complex problems and empowering them to build a strong conceptual knowledge. I believe that challenging ideas need to be unwound into manageable steps, creating the classroom environment where students are comfortable asking questions and exploring new ideas. From assisting a student with editing their writing to working through algebraic equations, I strive to make learning a participatory and rewarding experience. Along with tutoring, I am interested in programming, volunteering at an animal shelter, and discovering new topics in computer science. With the range of interests and dedication to education, I am able to connect with students positively, making learning enjoyable and effective.
