But most importantly, I understand what it is like to be in a classroom and fully grasp what is going on because of teachers who care. When I tutor students, I think back to my experiences in a classroom and strive to be that teacher who cares, that teacher who wants students to be engaged and have fun while also leaving the classroom with full comprehension of the lesson taught. Having taken the Specialized High School Admissions Test in NYC in 2016 and attending Stuyvesant High School, one of the specialized high schools and one of NYC's top schools, I have been tutoring students for the SHSAT for more than five years. I have also tutored students in English, Math, and Writing for over five years in the K-8 grade levels. I have experience working with students individually, in small groups, and in teaching entire classrooms. Now having graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Criminology, I am eager to start tutoring again on a higher level and work with students who were just in a similar position that I was in - attending school with a hope that they retain what they are learning and have worthwhile educational experiences.
