I'm a first-year medical student at McGovern (UT Houston) Medical School. I graduated from Louisiana State University in 2018, where I received my Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and a minor in chemistry. I offer tutoring for science courses, including biology, chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, anatomy/physiology, and more, as these are the subjects that I am most passionate about. Considering that I am still a student myself, a strong skill of mine is connecting with my students and breaking down complicated subjects in a way that they can understand. In my spare time, I enjoy watching and playing sports, reading, playing video games, and working out at a local gym.

My name is Antoine, and I love teaching. I first garnered my love for teaching through the organization 4-H, which uses non-traditional teaching methods, namely experiential learning. I love planning and implementing fun educational workshops in any subject, but especially those I'm passionate about.I have taught courses in music, leadership, biology, through formal settings, and numerous other subjects in a non-traditional settings. I substitute teach, particularly math subjects, but am flexible in which subjects I will approach. I love when I get to substitute and actually continue a lesson for a series of classes, and not just give busy work for them to do until their teacher returns the next day.Tutoring is fun because I get to connect with a student on their level and make the subject matter relevant to them; no matter how frivolous they've determined it to be. I believe everyone has the capacity to learn, so I always take the proper care and time to foster that within all students.

I graduated with summa cum laude from the Honors Program at Fordham University with a B.S. in Psychology with minors in Political Science, Spanish, and History. I have a wide variety of past tutoring experience starting when I was quite young. For the past four years I have worked as a peer tutor through the Higher Education Opportunity Program at Fordham as well as a tutor for elementary-high school students at a private tutoring center in the Bronx. While studying in Spain last year, I was able to work as an English instructor in a bilingual high school in Granada. I also worked through the Americorps program Jumpstart! to built literacy skills in younger children. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, Spanish, and History. I absolutely love helping students improve their writing abilities from the planning stages to editing their essays. Standardized testing, while not something most students look forward to, seems to be one of the areas in which we can see the most timely and remarkable improvements in skill. I feel very strongly about education and will likely enter a PhD program combining Psychology and Pubic Policy to work on education reform next year. I hope to impart some of my own excitement about learning to all the students I have the opportunity to work with. When I'm not at work at my job as the project director on a study on sleep and academic performance in adolescents, I love to read and spend time outdoors, hiking, and enjoying nature.

Hello! I am a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin where I studied nutrition and sociology, and conducted immunology and cancer research. I'm currently in the process of applying to medical school and am taking a gap year to work and spend time with my family. Science and math have always been my favorite subjects. I am particularly interested in chemistry, biology, and algebra because of how interconnected these topics are with one another. I have successfully taken many advanced biology and chemistry courses including genetics, human physiology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and more; I have also excelled in multiple areas of mathematics such as algebra, pre-calculus, trigonometry, and calculus.Teaching and tutoring others has always been a passion of mine; throughout my undergraduate career, I helped many of my peers understand course material by hosting group study sessions or meeting with them individually. I love helping others explore different learning styles and breaking down concepts in ways that make them easier to understand. Between maintaining straight A's, scoring in the 91st percentile in the Chem/Phys portion of my MCAT, and nurturing my scientific curiosities through my research, I have cultivated the skills needed to teach others in a way that is tailored to them.Testing and studying are individual to each of us - what works for one person may not work for another - so I can work with you to create a plan that is personalized to your strengths and weaknesses. In addition, I am more than happy to help you understand your course material, assist with test taking strategies, and share my own tips, materials, and methods that helped me throughout my academic career. Regardless of which stage you are at in your studies, I'd love to help you achieve your goal.

I'm a recent graduate from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Chemistry. During my undergraduate career, I've tutored a multitude of students, primarily in a one-on-one setting. In the past, I've been certified to teach chemistry and physics classes by a prestigious test preparation company.I absolutely love teaching mathematics, chemistry and physics. But unfortunately, these are subjects that a lot of students have real difficulty in. I've discovered that I have a knack for explaining difficult mathematical/physical science concepts, so that virtually anyone can understand the material at hand. Real world examples in conjunction with visual aides seem to make my students' understanding soar. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy playing golf- Just don't ask me to tutor you in golf!

I have long been fascinated by biology - plants, mushrooms, insects - and have always sought to figure out how life works. While pursuing my biology interest in high school, I was introduced to the fantastic world of laboratory work, microbiology, and genetics. I pursued laboratory opportunities and began building the skills needed to get involved in genetic engineering projects while completing my BS in molecular biology at Loyola University Chicago. After my undergraduate career, I stayed on at Loyola in order to pursue an opportunity in a molecular biology lab studying bacterial viruses (phage). I went on to complete my MS in biology having written my thesis on experiments wherein I genetically modified phage populations.I tutored for a variety of biology topics as well as organic chemistry for four years at Loyola. Further, I taught biology laboratory course for five semesters while completing my Master's. I have found few other opportunities to be as engaging or as rewarding as being able to pass on my understanding of my favorite subject, biology, to others. As I continue tutoring students, I hope to continue to cultivating my unique teaching style and to pass on my enthusiasm for the science of life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Many 10th graders taking AP Economics struggle with the transition from standard high school economics to college-level rigor. Common challenges include mastering economic terminology and concepts, applying theories to real-world scenarios, and managing the fast-paced curriculum that covers both microeconomics and macroeconomics. Additionally, students often find it difficult to distinguish between related concepts (like elasticity variations) and to tackle the free-response questions that require clear explanations of economic principles. Time management during the exam is another frequent pain point, as students need to balance detailed analysis with efficient answers.
An effective AP Economics tutor should have deep knowledge of both microeconomic and macroeconomic principles, plus experience with the AP exam format and scoring rubrics. Look for tutors who can break down complex concepts into digestible pieces and connect economic theory to current events or real-world examples that resonate with younger students. The best tutors also understand the specific challenges 10th graders face—like balancing AP-level content with their regular course load—and can create targeted study plans that build confidence alongside content mastery. Experience with practice tests and familiarity with common student misconceptions is essential.
Score improvement depends on your starting point, consistency with tutoring, and effort outside sessions. Students who work with a tutor typically see the most significant gains by addressing specific weak areas—whether that's struggling with free-response questions, mastering particular units, or improving test pacing. Many students who were unsure about material report moving from a 2 or 3 to a 4 or 5 over the course of focused tutoring. The key is identifying gaps early, practicing regularly with real AP exam questions, and building test-taking strategies alongside content knowledge.
AP Economics covers foundational concepts that overlap with standard high school economics, but it goes significantly deeper. While both courses explore supply and demand, elasticity, and market structures, AP Economics requires stronger analytical skills and the ability to apply concepts to unfamiliar scenarios. Additionally, AP Economics emphasizes economic models, mathematical relationships, and policy analysis in ways that standard courses typically don't. This is why 10th graders jumping into AP Economics benefit from tutoring—it bridges the gap between introductory and college-level thinking and ensures students aren't just memorizing facts but truly understanding how economists analyze problems.
Success on the AP Economics exam requires mastery of both the multiple-choice and free-response sections. For multiple-choice questions, develop the habit of eliminating clearly wrong answers first and watching for tricky wording that changes meaning. For free-response questions, many students struggle with time management—practice writing concise explanations under timed conditions so you can balance depth with efficiency. A strong strategy also involves tackling easier free-response questions first to build confidence, then moving to more complex ones. Additionally, practice tests are crucial; they help you identify which economic concepts and question types require more study, and they reduce test anxiety by familiarizing you with the exam's structure and pacing demands.
Most students benefit from a consistent study schedule rather than cramming. If you're taking AP Economics in 10th grade, aim for 3-5 hours of focused study weekly throughout the school year, with increased intensity in the weeks leading up to the May exam. This might include attending tutoring sessions, completing practice problems, reviewing notes, and taking full-length practice tests monthly starting a few months before the exam. Consistency matters more than marathon study sessions—regular review helps cement concepts and builds long-term retention. A tutor can help you develop a realistic schedule that fits your other courses and commitments while ensuring you cover all exam content thoroughly.
Free-response questions require students to explain economic reasoning clearly and apply concepts to novel situations—something that's quite different from multiple-choice questions. Many 10th graders struggle because they either provide answers that are too vague (just naming a concept without explaining it) or they over-explain and waste valuable time. Additionally, these questions often require drawing conclusions from graphs or data, identifying cause-and-effect relationships, or considering multiple perspectives on an economic issue, which demands higher-order thinking. Working with a tutor on free-response practice—where you write answers, receive feedback, and refine your explanations—is one of the most effective ways to build the skills needed for these questions. Learning to structure your response clearly and practicing under timed conditions helps students balance completeness with efficiency.
