I am an Electrical Engineer by profession, and a teacher/mentor by passion. My hobbies are Dancing, Reading, playing Chess and teaching. I loved teaching since I was a first grader. My very first student was my little brother, who decided to continue with my tutoring from Kindergarten thru his undergraduate. Besides him, I have about 12 years of one-on-one tutoring experience.

I am a recent graduate of Hope International University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Human Development with a focus on counseling and biblical studies. I am applying for Graduate School this summer, so I can further my education in Psychology and Cultural Anthropology. My passion is listening to and working with children; and, I hope to become the kind of therapist that families, including our soldiers and veterans, will come to when they need help. While I have been working on my education, I have spent the last several years as a para-educator teaching children of immigrants in California for the "No Child Left Behind" program at an elementary school. I also edit and tutor writing composition for individual clients in middle school and high school using APA and MLA formats, focusing on good research methods, proper citing, and correct bibliography and reference pages. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Math, and test prep. I've always felt a great joy when my students experience their "aha" moment. They have just received something that belongs to them for the rest of their lives - knowledge. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be the key to a high quality of life; and, I try to impart this appreciation to my students by being a good role model, since I am also a student. I teach good work ethics, responsibility, and accountability so my students will not only gain an education, they will be productive and dependable adults one day. I love spending time with my teenager, swimming, drawing, volunteering for Feed The Children and Save Our Beaches. One of our goals is to create the best mac 'n cheese "known to man."

I graduated Juniata College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Conservation and I hope to pursue a career in environmental education. I have had several internships teaching both in the classroom and outdoors. I can tutor reading, writing, Spanish language and environmental science. I enjoy editing and writing, so I would love to help with essay composition.I am a patient, organized and flexible instructor, who truly enjoys helping students succeed. A month after my graduation from Villanova, I was on a plane to California to start work on my Master's degree. I studied Entomology at the University of California, Davis and conducted a field research project that investigated how pesticides affect honey bee behavior. I also worked as a teaching assistant at Davis and co-created and taught a course about current issues related to beekeeping and bee conservation.I finished my M.S.in Entomology at the beginning of 2015. I have a sincere love of learning and find great joy in helping others achieve their academic goals. I believe a teacher must be patient with their students and truly understand what issues they face in order to effectively communicate with them. I strive to cultivate a positive teaching environment that inspires my students with the same passion for learning that I have.I have recently focused on tutoring standardized tests including the GRE, SAT and ACT. I most enjoy tutoring the GRE because of the complexity of its questions. While at PCC I would volunteer in the study hall by helping fellow students with their math homework. From PCC I transferred to Portland State University. I am currently working on my bachelor's of science in mechanical engineering degree. I currently tutor Algebra 1 through 4, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1 and Physics. My favorite subject to tutor is Calculus 1 because that is where I find mathematics to become very interesting.I believe that each student has their own unique approach to learning new subjects. It is the obligation of the tutor to shape their method of teaching around the student's unique set of strengths and weaknesses. By discovering where a student has a gap of understanding in a subject and helping the student to bridge that gap, a foundation can be created in order to progress to the next level of a subject.Outside of school I like to Play and record music at home, read books and work in the garden.
