I am a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where I completed my Ph.D. program in Physics. I was doing research in physics for many years, but it always comes a time when you feel you must pass your knowledge to other people, especially those of new generation. So, I started teaching and tutoring then. Originally I was teaching Conceptual, Algebra-Based and Calculus-Based Physics courses at different colleges and universities. Yet, while teaching these courses, I was also unofficially "tutoring" the students during my office hours when they were coming with their concerns and confusions. Officially, my tutoring started in January 2017, when I was offered to tutor at Science Learning Center of Stark State College in North Canton, Ohio. One thing I like in tutoring is the opportunity to work with students individually and use personal approaches to direct them to the success in their studies, rather than teaching an "average student" standing at a whiteboard or a projector screen. I am tutoring College, University and AP Physics courses, also I am able to tutor algebra/trigonometry and calculus. Rather that just giving the students the equations to solve the desired problems, I prefer to make the students work themselves, concentrating myself in directing them whenever it is necessary and explaining the subtle points of the confusing material studied. During the tests the students are left with their task alone with no help form anyone, and my goal is to make them able to deal with such tasks successfully. Hobbies: art, books, writing, reading, music

After several years experience voluntarily tutoring friends and family members I became a professional private tutor my junior year of college. My senior year, I took advantage of the opportunity to reach more students, creating a small private tutoring company in Houston in which I served as lead tutor and conducted all business operations.

I am currently an English, Social Studies, and Spanish I Instructor at a 1:1 school for middle school and high school students with learning differences. I was previously a college advisor for a nonprofit organization that assists college students from low-income backgrounds. I've been tutoring writing through various platforms since undergrad and I love that it allows me to practice teaching and communication skills as well as help others through the learning process. I love encouraging students to develop their own writing and feel confident in their written communication skills. I believe everyone is a writer and has the power to communicate their own unique ideas effectively.

I am a graduate of Augustana College, where I received a Bachelor's degree, as well as Northwestern University, where I received a Master's of Science. After graduation, I worked as a research assistant at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. I have had experience in tutoring college-aged and adult students in the fields of research methods, Philosophy of Mind, and writing. I have also given informal instruction to friends with regards to math, coding, and preparation for standardized tests. I am especially interested in tutoring for Python coding, math, and test prep. As a self-taught coder, I am especially excited to see other people succeed in the field of Python. As somebody who had to learn to love math, I am excited to see students understand the workings of mathematics. Finally, as somebody who has been taking standardized tests since grade school, I enjoy helping others understand the workings of standardized tests and the skills (both academic and personal) needed to succeed at them. My teaching approach emphasizes flexibility and empathy; I firmly believe that there are always multiple ways of reaching the same solution, and I recognize that students may have different educational foundations. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, coding, and re-learning how to play the piano. Hobbies: art, books, reading, music, writing

Frequently Asked Questions
A tutor can provide personalized feedback on every element of your essays—from thesis development and organization to argument strength and conclusion effectiveness. Rather than generic comments, you'll get specific guidance on how to strengthen your claims, support them with evidence, and refine your writing voice.
Tutors work with you through the entire writing process, helping you brainstorm ideas, outline your thoughts, draft your essay, and revise for clarity and impact. This personalized attention is particularly valuable because it addresses your individual writing challenges, whether that's staying on topic, varying sentence structure, or making your arguments more persuasive.
Strong reading comprehension comes from active engagement with texts—annotating as you read, asking questions about what the author means, and connecting ideas to themes and evidence. A tutor can teach you strategies for breaking down complex passages, identifying a writer's purpose and tone, and analyzing how literary devices contribute to meaning.
With personalized instruction, you'll work on close reading techniques specific to the texts you're studying, whether that's poetry, novels, or nonfiction. Your tutor can help you move beyond surface-level understanding to develop the critical thinking skills needed for strong literary analysis essays and class discussions.
Both matter, but they serve different purposes. Grammar is the foundation—correct punctuation, sentence structure, and usage ensure your ideas are clear and professional. Style, however, is what makes your writing engaging and distinctly yours—it's about word choice, sentence rhythm, and voice.
A tutor helps you strengthen both by first ensuring you have solid grammar fundamentals, then building on that to develop a stronger, more confident voice. This means learning when to follow rules strictly and when to break them intentionally for effect. The goal is writing that's both technically sound and compelling to read.
Writer's block often stems from perfectionism, unclear thinking about your topic, or fear of judgment. A tutor can help by teaching you pre-writing strategies like freewriting, brainstorming, and outlining that get ideas flowing before you worry about perfect sentences. Starting messy and revising later is often more effective than waiting for inspiration.
Your tutor can also help you identify what's actually blocking you—are you unclear on the assignment? Struggling to organize your thoughts? Unsure how to support your ideas with evidence? Once you pinpoint the real issue, it's much easier to work past it and build momentum in your writing.
Citation formatting isn't just a rule to follow—it serves real purposes: it gives credit where it's due, allows readers to find your sources, and demonstrates your credibility as a writer. Different fields prefer different styles (MLA for humanities, APA for social sciences), so learning both prepares you for high school, college, and beyond.
A tutor can teach you citation formatting in context—showing you how to integrate sources smoothly into your own writing, punctuate quotations correctly, and create accurate works cited or reference pages. Rather than memorizing rules in isolation, you'll practice with your actual essays, making the skills stick.
Revising is big-picture work—rethinking your thesis, reorganizing paragraphs, strengthening arguments, and adding or cutting content for clarity and impact. Editing is fine-tuning—fixing grammar, word choice, punctuation, and sentence-level issues. Many students skip revision and jump straight to editing, which means they miss opportunities to improve their actual ideas.
A tutor guides you through both stages strategically. During revision conversations, you'll discuss whether your argument is clear and well-supported. During editing, you'll focus on technical polish. Learning to separate these processes helps you become a more effective self-editor and writer overall.
Students typically see improvements across several areas: stronger thesis statements and more convincing arguments, better organization and paragraph structure, increased confidence in their writing voice, improved reading comprehension and literary analysis, and higher grades on essays and assignments. Many students also develop better revision habits and become more independent writers.
The timeline varies depending on where you're starting, but with consistent practice and personalized feedback, most students notice meaningful progress within a few weeks. Beyond grades, many students report feeling less anxious about writing and more willing to take risks in their work—which often leads to more interesting, authentic writing.
