About Me

I graduated in 2011 with degrees in French and Psychology from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. This is also where I began tutoring as part of a volunteer tutoring program at a local elementary school. But most of all, I loved seeing what a difference it makes to form a personal connection with each student, and this is why I have continued tutoring over the past several years. My passion for language has also combined perfectly with my passion for tutoring. When I studied abroad in Dijon, France, I taught English at a French preschool and also led English conversation classes with international students at my university. I also spent a year teaching English to students at a high school in France. Since then, I have had extensive experience tutoring French, most recently with private sessions in my Connecticut hometown. My favorite subject to tutor is French, because I love to make grammar more fun by integrating my passion for French life, culture, and food. I also am available to tutor in English, Psychology, and test preparation. In any subject I tutor, I like to make sure students are not afraid of their subject matter and are enjoying themselves! My calm, patient, and compassionate nature makes it easy for my students to feel at ease and not to be intimidated by what they are learning. I also focus on my students learning styles so that each student can learn in the most productive and successful way possible. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy cooking, playing the piano, listening to music, trying new foods, traveling, and most of all spending time with my family and friends.

Q&A with Sarah

In tutoring, I like to encourage a student to answer a question on his/her own before I jump in to answer it for them. If the student feels stuck, I like to guide them by asking them what they already know about this topic/question, or how we have worked through this type of problem in the past.
