About Me
I am a graduate of Arcadia University with a Bachelor's degree in Biology, and I am a graduate of Drexel University with a Master of Science degree. While attending Arcadia University, I conducted research in a Genetics lab where I helped investigate the role of specific insulator DNA sequences in the Drosophila genome that bound to a protein called CTCF. Afterwards, while attending Drexel University, I wrote my master's thesis based on clinical research I conducted at the Scheie Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA. The thesis was related to the effects of prism glasses on the satisfaction of diplopia patients. For the past year, I have re-enrolled at Drexel University College of Medicine to take graduate-level classes such as two semesters of Biochemistry as well as Graduate Neuroscience and a medical school course titled Medical Neuroscience. From May 2021 to January 2022, I conducted spinal cord research at Drexel University College of Medicine, where I studied the functional interaction between locomotor and respiratory networks in the spinal cord of adult Sprague Dawley rats. This research was presented as a poster with me as a second author at the Experimental Biology conference held this past April at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I have experience teaching elementary and middle school students as part of outreach programs affiliated with Drexel University College of Medicine. The different science related topics I helped teach was related to biology and neuroscience. I feel that volunteering one's time for tutoring on a regular basis will help students in school, as well as demonstrate to students that there are others who care about them and their potential to succeed in school and beyond.
