I'm a first-year medical student at McGovern (UT Houston) Medical School. I graduated from Louisiana State University in 2018, where I received my Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and a minor in chemistry. I offer tutoring for science courses, including biology, chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, anatomy/physiology, and more, as these are the subjects that I am most passionate about. Considering that I am still a student myself, a strong skill of mine is connecting with my students and breaking down complicated subjects in a way that they can understand. In my spare time, I enjoy watching and playing sports, reading, playing video games, and working out at a local gym.

My name is Antoine, and I love teaching. I first garnered my love for teaching through the organization 4-H, which uses non-traditional teaching methods, namely experiential learning. I love planning and implementing fun educational workshops in any subject, but especially those I'm passionate about.I have taught courses in music, leadership, biology, through formal settings, and numerous other subjects in a non-traditional settings. I substitute teach, particularly math subjects, but am flexible in which subjects I will approach. I love when I get to substitute and actually continue a lesson for a series of classes, and not just give busy work for them to do until their teacher returns the next day.Tutoring is fun because I get to connect with a student on their level and make the subject matter relevant to them; no matter how frivolous they've determined it to be. I believe everyone has the capacity to learn, so I always take the proper care and time to foster that within all students.

I graduated with summa cum laude from the Honors Program at Fordham University with a B.S. in Psychology with minors in Political Science, Spanish, and History. I have a wide variety of past tutoring experience starting when I was quite young. For the past four years I have worked as a peer tutor through the Higher Education Opportunity Program at Fordham as well as a tutor for elementary-high school students at a private tutoring center in the Bronx. While studying in Spain last year, I was able to work as an English instructor in a bilingual high school in Granada. I also worked through the Americorps program Jumpstart! to built literacy skills in younger children. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, Spanish, and History. I absolutely love helping students improve their writing abilities from the planning stages to editing their essays. Standardized testing, while not something most students look forward to, seems to be one of the areas in which we can see the most timely and remarkable improvements in skill. I feel very strongly about education and will likely enter a PhD program combining Psychology and Pubic Policy to work on education reform next year. I hope to impart some of my own excitement about learning to all the students I have the opportunity to work with. When I'm not at work at my job as the project director on a study on sleep and academic performance in adolescents, I love to read and spend time outdoors, hiking, and enjoying nature.

Hello! I am a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin where I studied nutrition and sociology, and conducted immunology and cancer research. I'm currently in the process of applying to medical school and am taking a gap year to work and spend time with my family. Science and math have always been my favorite subjects. I am particularly interested in chemistry, biology, and algebra because of how interconnected these topics are with one another. I have successfully taken many advanced biology and chemistry courses including genetics, human physiology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and more; I have also excelled in multiple areas of mathematics such as algebra, pre-calculus, trigonometry, and calculus.Teaching and tutoring others has always been a passion of mine; throughout my undergraduate career, I helped many of my peers understand course material by hosting group study sessions or meeting with them individually. I love helping others explore different learning styles and breaking down concepts in ways that make them easier to understand. Between maintaining straight A's, scoring in the 91st percentile in the Chem/Phys portion of my MCAT, and nurturing my scientific curiosities through my research, I have cultivated the skills needed to teach others in a way that is tailored to them.Testing and studying are individual to each of us - what works for one person may not work for another - so I can work with you to create a plan that is personalized to your strengths and weaknesses. In addition, I am more than happy to help you understand your course material, assist with test taking strategies, and share my own tips, materials, and methods that helped me throughout my academic career. Regardless of which stage you are at in your studies, I'd love to help you achieve your goal.

I'm a recent graduate from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Chemistry. During my undergraduate career, I've tutored a multitude of students, primarily in a one-on-one setting. In the past, I've been certified to teach chemistry and physics classes by a prestigious test preparation company.I absolutely love teaching mathematics, chemistry and physics. But unfortunately, these are subjects that a lot of students have real difficulty in. I've discovered that I have a knack for explaining difficult mathematical/physical science concepts, so that virtually anyone can understand the material at hand. Real world examples in conjunction with visual aides seem to make my students' understanding soar. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy playing golf- Just don't ask me to tutor you in golf!

I have long been fascinated by biology - plants, mushrooms, insects - and have always sought to figure out how life works. While pursuing my biology interest in high school, I was introduced to the fantastic world of laboratory work, microbiology, and genetics. I pursued laboratory opportunities and began building the skills needed to get involved in genetic engineering projects while completing my BS in molecular biology at Loyola University Chicago. After my undergraduate career, I stayed on at Loyola in order to pursue an opportunity in a molecular biology lab studying bacterial viruses (phage). I went on to complete my MS in biology having written my thesis on experiments wherein I genetically modified phage populations.I tutored for a variety of biology topics as well as organic chemistry for four years at Loyola. Further, I taught biology laboratory course for five semesters while completing my Master's. I have found few other opportunities to be as engaging or as rewarding as being able to pass on my understanding of my favorite subject, biology, to others. As I continue tutoring students, I hope to continue to cultivating my unique teaching style and to pass on my enthusiasm for the science of life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Balancing equations trips up many 12th graders because it feels like guessing. A tutor helps you understand the *why*—that atoms must be conserved in a reaction, so you're really solving a puzzle based on fundamental principles. Instead of memorizing patterns, you'll learn to count atoms systematically, recognize common reaction types, and build intuition for coefficients.
This conceptual approach means you can tackle unfamiliar equations on tests rather than relying on rote memory. Tutors also use visual tools—drawing molecules or showing atom counts—to make the conservation principle click in a way textbooks sometimes don't.
Yes. Many 12th grade chemistry students struggle not with the lab itself, but with writing clear reports and drawing meaningful conclusions. Tutors help you organize your data, understand what your results actually mean, and communicate findings in the formal lab report format your teacher expects.
Tutoring also strengthens your grasp of experimental design—why certain variables matter, how to identify sources of error, and how to connect your observations back to the chemistry concepts you're studying. This builds both better lab skills and deeper conceptual understanding.
12th grade chemistry asks you to think about things you can't see—electron configurations, molecular polarity, and reaction mechanisms. Tutors use multiple strategies: drawing detailed molecular structures, using physical models, sketching electron cloud diagrams, and building analogies to concrete examples.
A tutor might explain electronegativity through a tug-of-war analogy, or help you visualize intermolecular forces by showing how they affect boiling points of real substances. This multimodal approach helps abstract ideas become concrete enough to apply to new problems and exam questions.
Stoichiometry and dimensional analysis frustrate many students because they involve multiple steps and conversions. Tutors break this down into a repeatable process: understanding what the question is asking, identifying the bridge (molar mass, balanced equation, etc.), and converting units systematically using the factor-label method.
Rather than working through dozens of similar problems, an effective tutor helps you recognize *types* of problems and understand the logic behind each conversion step. Once you grasp the pattern, you can apply it to unfamiliar scenarios. Regular practice with immediate feedback helps cement the approach so it becomes automatic.
Ideally, start 4-6 weeks before a major exam like the AP Chemistry exam or your semester final. This gives enough time to identify weak spots, rebuild understanding on foundational topics (like molarity or thermodynamics), and practice problem-solving under test-like conditions. If you're already struggling mid-semester, starting sooner helps prevent gaps from snowballing.
Tutors create targeted review plans based on your specific challenges rather than generic test prep. They'll help you recognize which concepts show up repeatedly across units, teach high-yield problem types, and build the reasoning skills needed to tackle novel questions you haven't seen before.
Absolutely. Connecting chemistry to real contexts—how batteries work, why certain materials are used in construction, how medicines interact with your body—makes abstract concepts stick much better. When you understand *why* something matters, you're more motivated to learn it and better able to remember and apply it.
A skilled tutor draws these connections strategically, tying concepts to applications relevant to your interests. Whether you're curious about environmental chemistry, materials science, or biochemistry, seeing how 12th grade chemistry principles power real innovations makes the subject feel relevant and helps concepts transfer beyond the classroom.
The best chemistry tutors combine strong content knowledge with the ability to explain abstract concepts clearly. Look for someone who understands *why* students struggle with specific topics (not just what they struggle with), and who asks questions to identify gaps rather than just retelling the textbook.
Ideally, your tutor has experience with your specific curriculum or exam format (AP, IB, honors chemistry, etc.), uses multiple teaching methods to match your learning style, and focuses on building problem-solving strategies rather than just drilling answers. Personality matters too—you want someone patient who makes you feel comfortable asking questions.
