I will be attending the University of Florida pursuing a degree in finance. I have been tutoring students for four years now. I have tutored 6-12th graders in subject in various math subjects, however, I am most passionate about statistics. I like to teach my students by encouraging my students to go above and beyond their work. I also encourage my students to discover the opportunities they can gain by becoming more knowledgeable in math. In my spare time, I enjoy being on the boat and playing basketball.

Teaching is my fourth career. I've learned my way through the first three by watching others and choosing how to adapt and apply their techniques to the specific purpose of my projects. In high school I was a STEM student before the term existed, but I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar College with a major in Drama and a double minor in English and Art.Starting out on my career path in New York City, I took and taught theater crafts and began to develop prototype design skills while working in live theater, opera, dance, and television/video, and after contributing to Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and The Muppet Movie, relocated to London through the Jim Henson companies to work on feature films such as Dark Crystal, Dreamchild, Labyrinth, and Little Shop of Horrors. After a time, being at the intersection of a script and its visualization excited me the most and led me to emulate my colleagues who were into concept creation by beginning to research and write story treatments for Labyrinth.Returning to the States to raise a family, I applied what I'd learned about production to the corporate world. My experience and imagination yoked to a client's vision and purpose allowed me to take on a variety of roles: creative director, writer, producer, graphic designer, and occasional project management. As in the past, I often worked in the trenches, this time learning the software that supported and enhanced our efforts. But overall, my focus was to communicate, through language and visual representation, how a project could be realized. I knew that the plan might grow and change as it progressed, so had to be mindful that collaboration, communication, and flexibility were key to adapting to change as we moved toward the client's goal.Although I returned to college and earned a Master's in English and a Certificate in Creative Writing, my progress in the real world still relies on both words and pictures. The more we engage our senses, the deeper will be our ability to convey our intentions to those with whom we live, work, and play. Therefore, I wish to find out how you learn best so that together we may craft a plan for your progress, whatever your goal. Please share your expectations and concerns. Your goal may seem hazy at the start, but as learning is about observing, trying, and sometimes failing, your vision will come into focus. We can course correct as we move forward together to ensure a resolution, even if the destination changes somewhat. That's life, isn't it?

As a teacher, I have seen students first hand struggling to learn in a congested classroom setting. Even one in which there are a significantly reduced number of students in the room. This goes for both general education and special education students. I have also seen them flourish after being given extra one on one attention and time to learn concepts that he or she is struggling with. That is why I wanted to become a tutor in my spare time. I spend every day as an educator and not always able to give the extra attention to the students that require it the most. When tutoring, I am able to spend as much time as necessary on a concept, and use different methods to convey that concept to my students.

I am currently an upper elementary teacher through Teach For America, and I've passed all of my elementary certification exams, while working on finishing my teacher license this academic year from calumet college, St. Joseph. My undergraduate degree is in Economics from the University of Chicago, and I did a lot of statistics, too!I like having kids how to read, write, and do math. Because I loved doing those in school, and I'll be teaching that this up coming school year. To have a struggling reader all of a sudden love reading and attack hard words never before tried is the best feeling in the world.I believe education should be fun, loving, inviting, challenging, and organized.

Hello Prospective Students!I was very lucky as a kid because my parents never held me back and they always helped me exceed expectations in all subject matters. I understand the value of private tutoring because my parents provided me with tutors whenever I needed it.As a result, I did extremely well on My SHSAT and attended the Bronx H.S of Science. With the help of my parents and tutors I was able to do very well on my SAT's and gain acceptance to some of the toughest Undergraduate institutions NYC had to offer (NYU, Macaulay Honors College, etc). Most recently I graduated a top-ranked MBA program, and am ready to give back some of the knowledge I have gained throughout the years to those that need it.Currently I am an Adjunct at CUNY Queens College, teaching Mathematics to graduate and undergraduate students. I also tutor High School students (all Math Regents exams, and Math SAT) and Junior High School students for the SHSAT math section. My hobbies include basketball, soccer, and Judo. Throughout High School I was nationally ranked in the sport of Judo and was an Academic All-American.I have competed nationally and internationally for the United States and have placed at tournaments such as the Junior Pan American games.I know what it takes to be a champion both on and off the mat. I am confident that I can help your children exceed their goals in the field of mathematics!

I began my tutoring experience by working at a summer school as a teacher's assistant. It was a camp I attended as a child, and the reason I decided to work there was that one of my favorite teachers was teaching. I used the opportunity not just to teach, but to learn more under the wing of a great woman. After two summers, I went to college and volunteered for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. There I was partnered with a fourth grader named Jashawn, we worked together on homework assignments and review, but I like to think he learned a little more than what was just prescribed in his curriculum. Finally, this previous year I have spent every Saturday working at the Saturday Academy, a program through our school's Upward Bound initiative. I tutor a group of students in AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, as well as college prep. I want to be able to teach you the information, not just walk you through problems. My approach may take longer, but I promise it is worth every second to truly understand a topic. My favorite subjects to tutor are Calculus and Algebra. I have been working with and using Calculus and Algebra for my entire academic career, as well as taking supplemental courses on both in my free time. The reason I want to tutor and love to tutor is because I come from a family of educators, and the most influential person in my life was a teacher. Teachers have always been people I love, respect and look up to, so tutoring is my way of hopefully inspiring people just as much if not more than I was.

In May 2018, I will graduate Summa Cum Laude from Kent State University with a Bachelor's degree in the Science of Education, allowing me to teach mathematics grades 7 to 12. I am also a member of Kent State's Honors College and Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and most prestigious honor society of liberal arts and science. Since a young age, I knew that I wanted to help other people, but I wasn't sure how. I found teaching to be the best route for me after helping many of my peers in their study. My interest include hanging out with my friends and family, playing video games, and keeping up on current events.

Frequently Asked Questions
Students learning chemistry in French often struggle with three interconnected challenges: mastering technical vocabulary (like liaison chimique or équilibre chimique), balancing complex equations while thinking in a non-native language, and understanding abstract molecular concepts. Many students can memorize formulas but struggle to visualize why reactions occur or connect stoichiometry to real-world applications. Personalized tutoring helps by breaking down both the chemistry concepts and the language barriers simultaneously, allowing students to build confidence in their understanding rather than relying on rote memorization.
Expert tutors connect abstract concepts like covalent and ionic bonding to visual models and real-world examples—showing you why carbon forms four bonds or how electronegativity differences create polar molecules. Rather than memorizing definitions of liaison covalente or liaison ionique, tutors help you develop mental models by asking questions like "Why does this electron arrangement make this structure stable?" Research in science education shows that understanding the 'why' behind concepts leads to better long-term retention and the ability to apply knowledge to new problems. This approach also strengthens your scientific reasoning skills, which is essential for exams and advanced chemistry.
Lab work is where chemistry becomes tangible—you observe reactions, measure data, and test hypotheses in real time. When working with a tutor, you can discuss lab results, troubleshoot experimental design, and connect observations back to theoretical concepts. Whether you're balancing equations before a lab or analyzing why your experimental yield didn't match theoretical predictions, tutoring helps you develop the scientific method skills that standardized tests and advanced courses require. Tutors can also help you prepare for labs by walking through procedures and expected outcomes beforehand.
Balancing equations is more than trial-and-error—it's about understanding conservation of mass and developing a systematic approach. Expert tutors teach you to identify patterns (like recognizing polyatomic ions that stay intact), start with the most complex compound, and use logical strategies rather than guessing. They also help you understand why you're balancing (stoichiometry connections, limiting reactants, percent yield) so equations become tools for problem-solving rather than isolated tasks. With guided practice and feedback on your process, most students move from struggling with two-step reactions to confidently handling complex redox or combustion equations.
The best chemistry tutors for French-language learners combine three strengths: deep chemistry knowledge (they can explain concepts from multiple angles), fluency in French chemistry terminology and teaching, and the ability to diagnose whether a student's confusion stems from the chemistry itself or the language barrier. They ask probing questions to uncover your thinking, use visual aids and models to make abstract concepts concrete, and adapt their explanations when something isn't clicking. They also build your confidence by celebrating progress and creating an environment where asking 'why' is encouraged—essential for developing both language proficiency and scientific thinking.
Most students notice improvement within 4-6 weeks of consistent tutoring, though the timeline depends on where you're starting and how frequently you meet. Early wins often come from clarifying concepts that seemed confusing (like gas laws or thermodynamics) and building exam strategy. Deeper improvements—like developing strong problem-solving skills and scientific reasoning—typically develop over a semester of regular work. For students juggling chemistry in French, the language clarity often improves alongside content mastery, creating a positive feedback loop. Your tutor can track progress through practice problems, quiz performance, and your ability to explain concepts aloud.
Absolutely. Exam preparation with a tutor means building both chemistry mastery and communication skills in French simultaneously. You practice explaining lab results in French, work through past exam questions while building vocabulary, and learn to write clear scientific explanations under time pressure. Tutors help you identify your weak topics (thermodynamics, organic chemistry, etc.) and the specific language gaps preventing you from expressing your understanding clearly. This dual focus means you're not just memorizing answers—you're developing the language precision and conceptual depth needed for exams and future chemistry coursework.
