My motivations for becoming a tutor stem from the relationships I built with educators during my time as a student. It is because of the support I received from my teachers, professors, and tutors that I have such a strong passion for academia. I aspire to provide those whom I tutor with a similar sense of enthusiasm for learning.I am a graduate of Clark University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and I have also taken coursework in various disciplines of mathematics and business. During college, I gained experience tutoring in two primary ways. First, I was the teaching assistant for one of Clark's Linear Algebra courses. As the teaching assistant, I held office hours for the students enrolled in the course, during which they could come to me with any questions related to the lectures, homework, or exams. I also have experience teaching middle school students through the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program in the Worcester Public School system. While participating in the AVID program, I tutored a variety of subjects including Biology, History, English, Algebra, and Geometry. While I have experience in a broad range of subjects, I am particularly passionate about the fields of Mathematics and Economics.

I am a software engineer at a small technology company and volunteer teaching AP Computer Science at a local high school. I am passionate about tutoring in computer science and math to help people understand the beauty in the two fields. When tutoring, I find that it is important to engage the student by helping them understand the base of the problem and how to break it down into manageable sections. After this, it is important to figure out how to solve each part of the problem. By the end of my sessions, I hope that my students understand the basics of how we approached and conquered the problem, enabling them to do the same in the future without assistance. In my free time, I spend time visiting museums, going out to eat, and painting watercolor.

I have been a Teacher for thirteen years in three countries and believe in a student-centered approach. Students should be involved in planning and furthering their own learning to help them stay motivated and to feel empowered to keep learning. I also focus on study skills and work habits to help students learn independently and will even help them to find the language to advocate for themselves and their own learning in school.I graduated from college with high honors and have near-perfect exam scores on the PRAXIS exam despite having dyslexia. Dyslexia is an umbrella term for many types of symbol-ordering differences within the brain and I am happy to help others navigate taking control of their reading and test taking skills.

I enjoy working with people in an intellectually stimulating setting. I have gained the most satisfaction from tutoring not by pushing people beyond their perceived limits. I can simultaneously make people see the justification behind my passion for the sciences and encourage them to open their minds to it. My students actively sought out my help, and I wanted to live up to my role as an authority in my field.I like to set an agenda for each student in our sessions in order to create a structure in which they could relax and organize their thoughts. I spent the first two to three minutes listening to them talk about their day and their interests and hobbies to connect with them as a person and find out what learning style might fit them best. For example, I notice that visual learners would pay attention to my hand movements and verbal learners sometimes write down everything that I say. I then review laws and concepts that are fundamental to understanding chemistry and frequently relate them to popular topics such as sports, weather, and family.I plan let the students dictate the pace for the last half hour of each session. I ask a few questions to confirm that they understand what we are going over, but for the most part, my hope is for them to propose and answer their own questions. I know that every student has the scientific skills to recognize a pattern, relate the concept to something they know, and use logic, and a successful session entails that the student feels the same way.

College English Tutor • +9 Subjects
I performed my undergraduate studies at Georgian Court University and earned a BA in psychology with a minor in chemistry. I later went on to attend the New Pathways to Teaching Program through New Jersey City University and completed stage one. I earned my teaching certificate in Elementary Education K-8 as well as Middle School Science. The second stage will be completed upon my securing a full time teaching position. I have experience substitute teaching all grade levels from pre K through grade 12. I mainly enjoy teaching science and reading but am comfortable teaching math as well. I have always loved science and when I was a child I always wanted to be an astronaut! I believe all students can learn and should be given the best possible opportunity to learn in the manner which is best suited to them. I can develop a plan to accommodate a wide variety of students and tailor it to their individual needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
French literature tutoring covers literary analysis, historical context, major movements (Romanticism, Symbolism, Existentialism), and canonical authors from medieval texts through contemporary works. Tutors help students understand themes, narrative techniques, and the cultural significance of texts within French society and broader European traditions. They also address how to write analytical essays about literature and develop close reading skills specific to French literary conventions.
Reading French literature naturally expands vocabulary, particularly advanced and nuanced language used in formal writing. Tutors help you understand complex grammatical structures, idiomatic expressions, and stylistic techniques authors employ. You'll develop stronger reading comprehension and writing skills through analyzing texts and discussing interpretations. For students aiming toward fluency, exposure to authentic French prose complements conversational practice by building the cultural and linguistic depth needed for genuine proficiency.
Yes. French literature texts often use complex verb tenses—passé simple, subjunctive, conditional perfect—that don't appear in everyday conversation. Tutors explain these grammatical structures in literary context, showing how tense choices affect meaning and tone. Rather than drilling conjugations in isolation, they help you recognize patterns in authentic texts and understand why authors choose specific forms, making grammar instruction more memorable and applicable to your reading.
Absolutely. One major advantage of personalized 1-on-1 instruction is dedicated speaking time unavailable in typical classroom settings. Tutors can conduct discussions entirely in French about texts you're studying, helping you articulate interpretations, defend arguments, and develop academic speaking skills. This builds both confidence and vocabulary specific to literary analysis while giving you a native or near-native speaker to practice with—essential for moving beyond written analysis to genuine fluency.
French literature doesn't exist in a vacuum—understanding historical periods, social movements, and cultural values is essential for interpreting meaning. A text from the Belle Époque carries different significance than one from post-colonial France. Tutors provide this context so you grasp not just what authors wrote, but why their work mattered and how it reflects or challenges the society they lived in. This deeper understanding transforms literature from an academic exercise into a window into French culture and human experience.
Excellent French literature tutors combine deep knowledge of texts and literary movements with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly. They're passionate about French culture and can make historical and philosophical contexts engaging. They listen to where you struggle—whether it's analyzing symbolism, understanding 17th-century syntax, or articulating ideas in French—and tailor instruction accordingly. Strong tutors also help you develop independent analytical skills rather than simply providing answers, building confidence in your own literary interpretation.
With consistent tutoring, you'll develop stronger analytical writing, deepen your ability to extract meaning from complex texts, and build confidence discussing literature in French. Many students improve grades on essays and exams, while others gain genuine appreciation for French culture and authors. If you're working toward advanced proficiency, literature tutoring accelerates your journey by exposing you to sophisticated language and giving you a partner for substantive intellectual discussion in French—key elements of reaching true fluency.
