About Me
I firmly believe that most students have an innate ability to learn well, and that a good teacher/tutor can connect with students to draw out that natural ability. Thus, students shouldn't feel discouraged about learning, and I strive to help them keep positive, no matter how tough the subject/topic seems--you can do this! So far, I have been lucky to work with students ranging from college freshmen through graduate students, and I also served briefly as a K-12 para-educator in NJ. I earned my Ph.D. in Communication from Drexel U., and my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English and Communication from Kean University. For the future, I look forward to tutoring K-12, college, and other students for language arts, humanities, and social sciences subjects, as well as a limited number of lower-level STEM subjects. Moreover, I really don't have a favorite subject as such--I enjoy teaching any subject. My teaching philosophy and tutoring style, in a nutshell: I am patient and understanding, but I have reasonably high standards for myself and my students--and I lead by example! On an off-work day, you might find me taking a stroll or a swim, or reading a good Ken Follet novel. Or, who knows, you might find me taking a flying lesson (for a private pilot license)!
