I have been teaching literature and writing courses for seventeen years. I earned my Bachelor's degree in English from NYU, and I went on to complete a Ph. D in English at Stony Brook University. I am extremely passionate about my subject. I love interacting with my students, and helping them to feel more confident in their reading and writing skills. I have been helping students to navigate the college admissions process, including preparing for standardized tests and writing the college essay, since I began teaching. My primary motivation is to do anything I can to help each student accomplish his or her goals .

I am an undergraduate student at New York University, with a major in Psychology but plenty of varied interests. I plan to pursue a double-major as well in an undecided area. I offer test preparation for Regents, SHSAT, ACT, and AP Exams. Moreover, I offer tutoring services in psychology, math, English/social studies, essay editing, general homework support, and assistance with college application essays. I enjoy tutoring all of my subjects, but my favorite would have to be psychology, as it is my major and I am personally interested in it. I have been tutoring for the past three years and have found it extremely rewarding for both my students and myself. I am passionate about helping students because for me, there is nothing better than being interested in learning. To be able to encourage another person's education experience is an amazing thing, and the happiness a student feels when he or she has their "lightbulb moment" is profound. My teaching style is heavily personalized. It is important to establish the student's individual, unique learning style and cater the tutoring experience to his or her needs. Tutoring is a team effort, and my students and I work together to produce results and reach established goals. Outside of academia, I am a writer. I also enjoy spin class, exploring New York, and spending time with my friends.
I am currently a prospective Computer Science Major at New York University. I am aiming for a 5 year bachelor's/master's degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. With tutoring, I am very patient, and it is my goal to make sure my tutees absolutely understand the material they need help with. In general, I explain things in a lot of detail, which could be unnecessary at times, but I think that is better than not explaining enough. Because I'm majoring in Computer Science, that is one of my strongest subjects to tutor in, but I am able to tutor Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, and SAT Math. Outside of academics, I am an avid League of Legends player (and other games too), and I play piano every day.
My experience encompasses both private tutoring and formal teaching. At the University of Richmond, I taught biweekly revision classes as part of the official French 221 course. My responsibilities included planning lessons covering grammar, vocabulary, and culture. During this same year I provided tutoring in French 221 to five student athletes. I worked with them four nights a week to review lessons, answer homework questions, and prepare for upcoming exams. In addition to my experience tutoring and teaching French, I have also served as a volunteer English as a Second Language teacher to adult immigrants in Richmond, VA. I spent the past year working as an English Language Assistant for the French Ministry of Education. My role as a language assistant involved leading small group discussions and creating original, culture and vocabulary-based lessons for English students in a vocational high school and general middle school. During this year I also provided private one-on-one tutoring to a French adult looking to improve his English listening and speaking skills.I enjoy teaching and tutoring because it allows me to share my passion for the French language. I particularly enjoy adapting my instruction to individual learning styles to best meet a student's needs and to see their knowledge of the language progress and expand. Seeing an individual make personal connections with the language and seeing the language take root in an individual's worldview or academic path are the most rewarding aspects of tutoring. For those reasons, I remain extremely dedicated to helping an individual meet their personal goals. At the same time, I recognize that learning a language is not a linear process. Therefore, I remain flexible to experimenting with multiple approaches to see which is the best fit.
Hi! My name is Maddie and I'm a tutor specializing in English, writing, reading and homework help for Elementary and Middle School students, as well as essay writing for high schools. I have about five years of experience working as a tutor (mainly for young folks!) in NYC, more than 10 years of care giving experience, and truly love working with students.I'm a NYU Tisch Grad with a degree in drama and a minor in business; I graduated with high honors from Tisch with a final GPA of 3. 7. I'm currently pursuing a career in acting and screenwriting, while also working as a producer on a live monthly comedy show. In addition to tutoring, I also coach students for acting auditions and speech/voice skills. Whether it's preparing a final essay on Romeo and Juliet, working through daily homework tasks, or nailing that end of semester presentation, I'm here to help. I'd love to share my passion and help your students discover the joy that learning can bring to their lives!
I'm passionate about helping students with reading comprehension. I enjoy working with readers to learn where to look in a text for the different layers of an author's meaning. I also get excited about helping students think about how to express their ideas about a text in writing.
Hello! I am a twenty-two-year-old graduate of New York University, having studied International Relations and Middle Eastern Studies! I graduated Summa Cum Laude and received numerous academic honors throughout my time at NYU. In addition, I currently manage a city council campaign in Virginia in my free time (I love politics). I am ecstatic about teaching English (because, let's be real, who isn't?), college prep, standardized testing, and Arabic, and have many hobbies. I have taught English professionally and recreationally for a few years now; one year of which I tutored for a nonprofit in the Bronx, thereafter the next year I worked for a Beijing-based company teaching English to variously aged Chinese children, and finally, I've taught through Varsity Tutors itself. Moreover, I am fascinated with the Arabic language and helping others learn the difficult ropes of Arabic. I have been learning Modern Standard Arabic for eight years and am near fluency. I have studied abroad in Morocco and visited five Middle Eastern countries thus far. I LOVE doing Taekwondo and have a third-degree black belt therein and officiate across the United States; I love exploring and mountaineering and skiing in Montana (where I am from); I enjoy learning new languages greatly (I am learning Arabic, Hebrew, and German currently); and finally (but certainly not least) I relish meeting new people, helping them in any way I can, and discovering interesting things about their lives. I hope to see you soon, help you achieve any goal you academically desire (which anyone can do), and of course, find out more about yourself! I wish you all the best, Benjamin
Mens sana in corpore sano is a Latin phrase, usually translated as "a healthy mind in a healthy body". The phrase is widely used in sporting and educational contexts to express the theory that physical exercise is an important or essential part of mental and psychological well-being. Wikipedia All this to say my picture reflects my newly rediscovered health kick to go with my love of teaching and learning. I've been told I'm a natural student. I hope I can help you discover/stay in touch with the ones inside us all.
I am biologist passionate about teaching and making peoples lives easier.
I am a person who is passionate about learning and teaching mathematics. I get great joy from teaching others.
As an undergrad at New York University, I am working towards my Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Since graduating from Brooklyn Technical High School, I have tutored high school students in algebra and trigonometry and helped prepare students for the SAT. I am also a Jumpstart Corps Member and spend a few days a week providing preschool children in low income communities support in language, literacy skills, and social-emotional competencies. While I have experience in a broad range of subjects, my favorite subject to tutor is math because of the systematic methods involved. My job as a tutor is to provide resources for my students and to guide them when they need help. I believe that the best kind of student is one who wants to improve as much as I want to help them. There must be effort from both sides. In my spare time, I like to knit and do other DIY projects.
I am a dedicated, devoted, and creative aide on the path to understanding. Aide consacr, devot, et cratif sur le chemin la comprhension totale. I am a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. I have been teaching private students (Voice, Theatre, English, French) and groups (Voice, Theatre, English, French) for over twelve years. I run a non-profit LLC (Trust Your Gut Productions) and am a working actor/composer. One of the most fulfilling things for me is helping those who wish to better themselves and their skill-sets to do so. My affable, professional approach is both fun and effective for my students, who have gone on to Broadway, to move to the States (or to France), and more. -French (Grammar, Conversation, Accent Reduction) -English (Grammar, Conversation, Accent Reduction, Writing) -Music Theory -Vocabulary and Grammar
Studying for all of this at once can be annoying. However, it can be fun if you let it. That doesn't mean it won't be work to master the topics BUT it means that it doesn't have to be painful. I spent my college career studying many topics. In undergrad, I minored in Computer Science and majored in Cinema Studies. Essentially, I love math and science but am also a very artistic person (and I really love film). To drive that home, my MFA is in Film Production. Both degrees were obtained from NYU. I received a 1550 on my SAT when it was out of 1600. My education career has been in the arts. I taught Editing at New York Film Academy and was the Chair of Post Production there as well. Throughout all of this, I have always kept my math and science skills sharp, mostly because I just love the subjects.
I am an aspiring genetic counseling student seeking to practice my education skills. I graduated from New York University with a bachelors in Biology. I am proficient in the biological sciences and mathematics. I enjoy teaching with fun, creative, and innovative instruction styles. I always check in with my students to ensure I am meeting them where they are with the material. I am determined to make sure my students fully grasp the concepts they struggle with and I adjust my practices to their needs.
Hello! I am an experienced tutor that's looking forward to working with you! Learning can be tricky and I'm willing to get creative and work with you in whatever way helps you best absorb knowledge. I have a degree in acting and am currently finishing up a degree in Speech-Language Pathology at NYU.
I am currently a senior at New York University with a major in Economics and other studies in business, mathematics, and data science. In my tutoring experience, I have helped students with Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics. I have also had the pleasure of working with Let's Get Ready, a non-profit organization, by preparing disadvantaged high schoolers for both the SAT and ACT.I look forward to helping you accomplish your goals. My ultimate goal with all my students is to ensure they leave confident in their subject knowledge along with the skills to continue their academic success.

Hello everyone! I'm a passionate and patient Teacher who has been teaching in the U.S. and Asia (China and South Korea) for the last 12 years. I hold a BFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, a MA in Education from New York University, and TOEFL certification. Understanding and mastery of learning content can be achieved by independent perseverance and attention to detail. Never give up! In my experience those students who put the most effort in and are seriously committed to achieving their learning goals, usually do. I have taught students of all ages from elementary school to adult, in the content areas of English reading, writing, grammar, TOEFL prep study, and art history to name a few. I feel that I have a very good understanding in these areas and can be helpful to potential students.
Hi! My name is River Knight. I'm currently a student at New York University. I've actively worked as a tutor for the last 5 years. I hope to help my students find the joy in what they're learning and give them tools to improve on their own!
I received my B.A. from New York University and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law. I have also served in the U.S. Army for over four years, and was honorably discharged in 2010. For two years, I taught English in Korea, and prepared students for the TOEFL standardized English exam. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and History. In today's competitive environment, a successful education is of utmost importance to students. Every grade, every score, and every evaluation, could be a pivotal building block of a child's professional future. Knowing this is to understand the seriousness of the educators role in a child's development. I promise to do my best to help your child excel in his or her future. At the same time, I also understand that there are many different factors that motivate a child in his studies. I think it's important not just to drill facts into students, but to help them appreciate how their studies will have a real effect on their lives. I hope to make the learning process not just a chore that is forced upon them, but a perceivable benefit that a student will understand is an important part of their well being.
Aside from having my master's degree in information technology and game design, I have taught kids and adults in some form or another for most of my adult life. I've taught in school, homeschool, and informal settings, large classes and one-on-one coaching. I've developed curricula and lesson plans both for my classes and for others'. I love teaching, and students have said that I'm fun, funny, nerdy, passionate, and creative. My expertise lies in technology, particularly in the following areas: general computer use, computer science, software engineering, programming (JavaScript, PHP), web development, web design, game design, graphic design, marketing design, desktop publishing, and the Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, InDesign, etc.). I am also a fan of project-based learning: I can coach a technology project from beginning to end.I've been programming since age ten, and developing web sites for as long as there's been an Internet. I have my master's degree in information technology and game design (4.0 GPA) and continue to learn devotedly, even as trends in technology rapidly change. I have my own web design business, specializing in custom sites.I ran a print/web marketing business for ten years, advising clients on designs for their marketing. I understand layout, composition, eye pathing, communications, color theory, typography, fontography, and design history. I also use PhotoShop and InDesign almost every day, frequently creating custom art and graphics for my web design clients. All of my areas of expertise are highly marketable in today's IT job environment. Let me know how I can help you out.
I will be graduating from NYU in December of 2020 with a degree in Applied Physics and am currently looking to establish myself as a tutor in the NYC area. I have been tutoring for roughly a year and a half for a few families and have experience teach at multiple different levels. I find a lot of satisfaction in tutoring. One of the best feelings is helping a student and seeing that moment when everything finally starts to click. In my free time, I like to watch TV and explore the city with my friends.
I lived nearly 10 years in Italy. I understand the importance and interest in learning a foreign language and understanding the language spoken in the country where you live. I am passionate about connecting people and cultures through communication, this is why I enjoy teaching languages. During my time in Italy, I earned my undergraduate degree at The American University of Rome in Italian Literature, a Masters degree in Women's Studies at the University of Florence, and a second Masters in Italian Studies from New York University La Pietra in Florence.I have years of experience teaching English as a second language and love teaching Italian, the language of my beloved Italy where I've spent most of my adulthood. My lessons are tailored to meet the needs of my students, ensuring full-engagement, understanding and improvement. My greatest talent as a teacher is understanding how the student learns, so that the students' interests and requirements are met, if not exceeded. I am extremely prompt and use every minute of our time together to its fullest.Beyond teaching, I am passionate about cooking, wine, and Japanese longbow archery. I am intrigued by everything the world has to offer!
I graduated from New York University this past December receiving a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in anthropology with a minor in chemistry. While my focus was in genetic anthropology, my liberal arts major has allowed me to explore a wide variety of subjects during my college experience. I began tutoring as a middle school student back in California and have continued to tutor every year since. So many years of practice has allowed me to become versed in tutoring individuals of all ages in a wide variety of subjects. For the last two years I have focused on working with students with learning disabilities such as ADHD. My teaching style focuses on reframing academic struggles as hurdles with simple and practical solutions rather than insurmountable hurdles. While I tutor in many subject areas, my passion and joy is in the sciences and mathematics. I have always seen education and learning as some of the most exciting and important opportunities in life, and I try to pass on this joy to all of my students. Outside of education I also love traveling, even within my own city, finding it's hidden streets and historic landmarks.
I am currently a PhD student in Comparative Literature at NYU and recently graduated from Haverford College where I majored in English. I am passionate about learning in all its forms, but most of my areas of expertise are centered in the humanities. While my research as a doctoral student ranges from early 20th century English literature to contemporary European philosophy, my tutoring interests are much more broad. I have always done quite well on standardized tests (particularly the English/Verbal portions), and love helping people prepare for them! I also enjoy tutoring reading, writing, literature and related fields at all levels! Additionally, I have great French skills (not 100% fluent, but very advanced) and am more than comfortable tutoring elementary to intermediate French. Finally, as someone who has done professional editing work, I will also add that I adore tutoring all forms of writing and have helped countless people with writing projects ranging from short stories and novellas, to academic essays and theses, to cover letters and personal statements for job and graduate school applications. I would also like to note that, having dealt with serious ADHD when I was younger, I more than understand the struggles that come with being an ADHD/ADD student and enjoy helping ADHD/ADD individuals find means to study that suit their own individual ways of learning. I had to learn many tricks along the way to make sure I stay organized, focused, and on top of my work, and I would love to share them with you! My tutoring philosophy is that everyone whether they are young or old, whether they have learning difficulties or they do not has a completely unique way of learning, and I excel at helping them find that way. No way is better or worse or makes someone more or less intelligent. I am a firm believer that "whatever works, works." Listen to music or don't, hand write your notes or type them up. The only correct solution is the one that helps you learn the material in the fastest amount of time with the most minimal amount of stress. We will figure out what works best for you.By way of conclusion, I will wrap up with you a few personal details. When I am not studying or tutoring, I enjoy cooking (especially French and Indian food!), playing blues/rock music, tinkering with and modifying my electric guitars, and running! My favorite color is red; my favorite place in the entire world is Paris (although I was only fortunate enough to spend time there once), and if I had to pick one song to listen to on repeat on a desert island for eternity, it would be "Atom Heart Mother Suite" by Pink Floyd. My friends describe me as personable, outgoing, down to earth, and above all, patient. I like to think they're right.
I am a lifelong learner at heart, driven by curiosity and a genuine passion for discovery. Whether I'm diving into a new subject, exploring ideas through reading and writing, or tackling complex challenges, I find deep fulfillment in the learning process itself. This enthusiasm is what I bring to every tutoring sessionhelping students not just master material, but develop a love for learning that extends far beyond our time together. What sets me apart is my ability to meet learners exactly where they are. I have a natural talent for identifying the root of a problemwhether it's a simple concept that's been misunderstood or a complex challenge that requires creative thinkingand guiding students toward clarity and confidence. I work with everyone from young learners building foundational skills to professionals seeking to advance their expertise, adapting my approach to fit each individual's goals and learning style. Beyond academics, I believe in the power of growth and development in all areas of life. Just as I push myself through swimming and cardio to build strength and endurance, I encourage my students to embrace challenges as opportunities to grow. There's nothing more rewarding than witnessing that moment when a concept clicks, confidence builds, and a student realizes what they're truly capable of achieving. I'm here to be your partner in learningsupporting you, challenging you, and celebrating your progress every step of the way.
I've always been curious about how people think -- how we make sense of the world and how hard it can be to explain what we really mean. Writing is such a big part of that. I know how frustrating and overwhelming it can feel to look at a blank page and not know where to start. I graduated from NYU with honors with an interdisciplinary background in Psychopathology and Media. Throughout high school and college, I often found myself helping classmates brainstorm, revise, and strengthen their essays. I've always genuinely enjoyed being the person people come to when they're stuck or unsure how to organize their thoughts. I don't see tutoring as "fixing" someone's writing; I see it as helping you say what you actually want to say, clearly and confidently. Sometimes that just means slowing down, talking through your ideas, and finding the structure together. No two students think the same way, and that's what makes writing meaningful. My goal is to help you develop your own voice, not replace it with me. We'll focus on clarity, structure, and strong arguments, but always in a way that still feels like you. At the same time, I understand that writing often has to meet specific expectations, whether that's responding directly to a prompt, matching a teacher's rubric, or tailoring a college essay to a particular school. Part of my approach is helping students thoughtfully adapt to those requirements without losing their sense of self. I want sessions to feel supportive and low-pressure. You can ask questions, rethink ideas, and admit you're stuck --- that's all part of the process. My goal is for you to leave feeling clearer, more capable, and proud of what you wrote.
My goal is to engage each student in a style of learning that is best suited for them. I strive to help people help themselves. Learning is a creative experience and fostering a passion for learning creates people who will inspire others to do the same.I enjoy working with all age groups and particularly those students who feel stressed out by the impersonal nature of technology and certain educational environments.I am an effective mentor for students who have difficulty using the web as a research resource. I am very good at helping students organize their learning strategies around course curriculum and long-term assignments.
I like to think of tutoring sessions as learning learning. It's never too late to start good habits, and it's amazing how simple and rewarding it is to approach one's studies in the right way. For my part, I like to keep things light but productive; I find that students learn the best when they're having fun and when their studies highlight the aspects of the work that they're interested in. Myriad studies have correlated interest and academic performance, but just anecdotally it's important to approach school in a way that builds a foundation, whether that's for further schooling or elsewhere in life.
I'm an NYC-based writer and actress with a passion for English language and composition. I graduated with honors from NYU with a background in journalism, essay writing, and literature. My goal is to help you fall in love with language.
I have over ten years of tutoring and teaching experience at the college and grade school levels. As a PhD Linguist, I have a solid understanding of phonetics, second language acquisition, and cross-linguistic differences. I am also experienced with training students for American standardized tests including the SAT, ACT and GRE. These tests require endurance and confidence as well as fundamental skills, which means that all these components have to be learned, practiced, and nurtured equally for a student to achieve a truly excellent score. At the Yale Autism Clinic, I have worked with special needs children on academic achievement. Additionally, I have worked as a homework helper for both low and high achieving students.
In June 2010, I graduated from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study and NYU where I studied Jazz Guitar Performance and Creative Writing. Shortly after graduating, I began working as an ophthalmic technician at a private ophthalmology practice in Brooklyn and decided I wanted to pursue medicine.I completed a post-baccalaureate program at CUNY Hunter College from Fall 2011 to Spring 2013. During this time, I completed two levels of courses in biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry and physics as well as one semester of calculus. I became involved in Hunter's Physical Sciences Center, where I went on to tutor students in chemistry, organic chemistry and physics. I also took on several private students in organic chemistry. In the Fall of 2014, I matriculated at Stony Brook University School of Medicine in Long Island, where I will soon begin my second year. When tutoring, I focus on laying down a strong foundation of understanding before delving into the nuances of different subjects. Students too often fall into a cycle of keeping up with material as a series of pieces of information, never understanding the core concepts and attempting to memorize individual facts. With science and math, it is important to dedicate a lot of time when beginning a subject to clearly understand these core concepts. I have found that successfully approaching these subjects in a bottom-up way can mean the difference between continuously struggling frustratingly through courses like organic chemistry and learning to love them.Completing my first year of medical school has given me a new appreciation for the role that science plays outside of the classroom. I am passionate about these subjects and enjoy passing that passion onto students.
As a passionate educator with a Master's in Statistics and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, I bring over 2 years of tutoring and classroom experience to my work. Specializing in subjects such as Algebra, AP Calculus, and Statistics, I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students can thrive and develop their analytical skills. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering curiosity and confidence, using real-world applications to connect complex concepts to students' interests. I am dedicated to helping each student achieve their academic goals, and I find joy in witnessing their growth and success. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring mathematical puzzles and engaging with educational literature, which continually inspires my approach to teaching.
I am a third-year law student at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and will be working as at attorney at a large corporate law firm when I graduate. I completed my undergraduate degree at NYU, double majoring in journalism and dramatic literature.I am passionate about education, specifically reading and writing, and believe my enthusiasm, organization and professionalism would make me an asset to your company. In law school, I was selected by a professor to be a teaching assistant for a Legal Writing course for 16 first-year students. I attended weekly classes, often providing input and co-teaching several classes. I also held weekly office hours, where I met with students individually and in small groups to help with their assignments, including working on their writing style and structure. In addition, I reviewed and edited students’ assignments, providing individualized feedback and advice. As a Constitutional Law teaching assistant, I co-taught weekly review sessions of over 75 students, where I explained and reviewed course material. I reviewed practice problems, coached students on proper study and reading strategies, and answered questions. I quickly learned best practices to keep all of the students engaged and focused, encouraging student participation and leading class discussions.I also volunteered with iMentor, providing one-on-one support to two high school freshman through online communication and in-person meetings. I provided structure and motivation, helping my mentees plan their future college and career goals, as well as study strategies and day-to-day organization. Working closely with my two mentees, I determined their individual communication and learning styles, as well as their strengths and weaknesses, and used this knowledge to tailor our sessions to best meet their needs. Finally, in high school, I tutored elementary school students in math and reading comprehension, helping with homework and assignment organization. I understand that every student has different academic, emotional and social needs and I am confident in my ability to help each student reach his or her potential.
I am a student at NYU majoring in Psychology. Outside of my studies, I spend my time training with the Army ROTC program at Fordham University. I believe that discipline and motivation are fundamentals to learning, and these are characteristics that can me taught and honed to create a successful learning environment. I want each of my students to be confident in their abilities to perform and proud of their work.

Whether you are prepping for a test, brushing up on grammar or applying for college, I can help you accomplish your writing and reading goals.I earned a Master of Science, with honors, in journalism from Columbia University and a bachelor's in history from New York University. In my career, I have worked both as a writer and an editor. My tutoring philosophy is that no two students are the same; I will adapt every session to an individuals' needs. I can help you work on your college essays, expository and persuasive writing, grammar, public speaking, and English.Outside of my work, I love travel--especially spontaneous road trips. I love to unwind after a long day by cooking and baking. And, of course, I love to read. I enjoy all kinds of works, especially history and long-form journalism.
I have a BS in Computer Science and Economics from Yale and an MBA from NYU. I have my Series 7 and 57 and work as a proprietary trader on Wall Street. I'm passionate about financial markets, technology and economics. My philosophy towards education is one of efficiency. I believe that time management is the key to accomplishing your academic and professional goals. I'm here to help you not only learn but absorb the material into your skill set.
Look, learning can be toughbut it's rewarding in the end, and done right, it can be a lot of fun. My goal is to help students learn and succeed, but also to help them have a good time while doing it.Part of what I love most about being a journalist is breaking things down and making them understandable to the massesbasically, teaching people new things. If they don't comprehend and retain that knowledge, I haven't succeeded in my job, just like a tutor. I've been informally tutoring people for years, whether it's helping children study for classes while babysitting in high school and college or helping classmates learn and prepare for school all the way back to my elementary school days. In one form or another, I've been helping people learn almost as long as I remember.A great tutor needs to be intelligent, with a comprehensive, intuitive understanding of the subject matter. It's not enough to just know the answers to questions; a tutor needs to understand why the answers are what they are. A great tutor needs to be compassionate, patient, understanding, and kind, to help create a safe, creative and comfortable environment for the student to learn. And a great tutor needs to be empathetic, to be able to put him/herself in the student's shoes and understand why he or she might be having trouble.
I'm a sociology student at New York University, and I've had 3+ years of professional experience as a teaching assistant and teaching aide for a range of elementary and high school students, primarily focused on English comprehension and literacy. I also have extensive experience in peer review and staying up to date with academic works. A strong and insightful learning experience speaks to your values, interests, and stories. I am knowledgeable and experienced in college admissions essays, general essay/writing guidance, ESL, English literacy & comprehension, and Korean conversational language learning. I'm invested in how we can accumulate who you can be!
I am a highly-effective teacher who has experience working with elementary students in general education, special education, public and private school settings. I have taught a variety of grade levels and have tutored students ages 5-12. I work with students with a range of abilities and cater to the needs of each individual student I work with. I strive for each child to reach their potential, exceed their own expectations, and, most importantly, enjoy learning and feel good about themselves!
