I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University, where I earned my Masters in English. I am also an alumni of Arizona State University, where I received a Bachelors in Secondary English Education with minors in History and Religious Studies. After graduating from ASU in 2006, I have taught English Language Arts in the middle school and high school classrooms for 19 years. Upon completion of my Masters in English, I now also teach Dual Enrollment English 101/102.

As a Special Education teacher for 5 years, I am exicted about the opportunity to apply my skills and experience as a tutor for English, Special Education, Creative Writing, Grammar, and state exams. In addition to my Bachelors of Arts in English from Montclair State University, I also have a Master's in Special Education from Arizona State University and a Master's in Educational Leadership and Administration from Capella University. I was previously employed at California State University, Long Beach as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for General Microbiology lecture and laboratory courses. My master's thesis research in Peter Ramirez's Lab focused on HIV-1 accessory protein interactions with human intrinsic restriction factors and how these factors may also contribute to SARS-CoV-2 virus-like particle infectivity. Currently, I am working towards obtaining a doctorate degree in biomedical science within the Virology and Gene Therapy track at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Hi, I'm Julia. I'm an undergraduate student at Arizona State University majoring in Biochemistry and Spanish with a minor in English, so I have experience with a wide variety of subjects. During my 3.5 years at Arizona State University I could never pick a focused area of study because I was, and still am, interested in everything. I started off as a math major because I was already very accomplished in the subject, having taken Calc 3 and Differential Equations in high school. However, I found myself wanting to explore other subjects as soon as I started college, taking courses in art and music history, dance, anthropology, and biology. I excelled in all of them, making it even harder for me to choose just one thing. I then became a biological sciences major, with an emphasis on genomics, but I couldnt let go of my other interests, wanting to continue my studies in anthropology, math, and dance. A year into that major and I wanted to change yet again, this time to physical anthropology. A year into physical anthropology, and I wanted to change my major even still. This time though I knew I had to slow down and really think about what it is I want to do.In my time away I have realized that what has remained constant for me is a love of learning. This is why I continue to go to my local library every month, consistently leaving with a stack of 10+ books. Furthermore, while taking classes in college I found that I really enjoyed helping other students succeed in their studies. I helped people in chemistry labs and biology labs, edited essays, and worked through math problem sets with other students. When I tutored students, regardless of subject, I would bring patience and understanding with me to the session. If they were not grasping a concept, then I knew it was something that I was doing wrong. Everyone learns differently and at different paces, and my goal was and is to be able to communicate the information you want to know in a style that is most suitable for you. Additionally, when it comes to math and science courses, I emphasize conceptual understanding. When tutoring and talking to other students in chemistry, physics, etc. , I found that often times they did not know why a formula worked or why a step was being taken, causing them to make mistakes when problems did not perfectly resemble examples done in class. When I tutor, I will make sure that students have a qualitative as well as a quantitative understanding of the material, making them more adaptable to different formats of test questions. And if youre wondering about French being listed in my tutoring subjects, I took four years of French in high school, placed top 10 in the National French test my junior and senior years, and I continue to work on my French by listening and talking to my boyfriend and his family, for whom French is one of their native languages.

I am a bio-medical engineering student with a minor in mathematics at Arizona State University. I absolutely love science and mathematics and look for any opportunity to help others to understand why these subjects fascinate me. I am currently in my senior year at ASU; I have a 3.96 GPA, and I am married with two young boys. For the past two years I have been working for the University Academic Success Program at ASU helping students excel in math, physics, and chemistry. Those I tutor come from a diverse background and often require assistance with advanced topics within the aforementioned subjects. Prior to starting my academic path, I spent 8 years in the Army. Half of my military career was spent as an air defense coordinator, and the other half as a respiratory therapist. I have a very broad set of skills and life lessons that I fall back on when I tutor. In my youth I was disinterested in education, and I joined the military when I was 19 because my grades did not leave me with many other options. The Army gave me the opportunity to rethink how I look at the world. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Astrophysics from Arizona State University. I absolutely love astronomy, math, and physics-the underlying fundamentals behind astrophysics. I have been tutoring these subjects since my junior year in high school (over 5 years!). In my last two semesters at ASU I taught astronomy labs to undergraduate students from all sorts of majors. The astronomy courses contained a significant amount of math which had to be taught as well. This helped me become a more effective tutor because it allowed me to expand my teaching experience. I believe you can never fully understand a subject until you can teach it so through tutoring, I am able to assist the student in learning the material while solidifying my own knowledge. The most important part of my lesson plan is to make learning enjoyable. A tutor must be able to quickly identify the learning style of the student so the lesson can be modified to their style. Apart from tutoring, my hobbies and interests include observing planets and galaxies with my 10" Meade telescope, playing soccer locally with family and friends, and going to the gym! I have been a classroom teacher at the community college level for over twenty years. The subject I tutor most is math. I especially like technical math because it relates to engineering (i.e. the real world). I can also tutor logic and physics. I am currently an undergraduate student at ASU. I am pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry as well as a secondary education certificate. Initially, when I signed up for college classes I had the intention of becoming a doctor. Specifically, I wanted to be an endocrinologist so that one day I could care for patients under circumstances similar to my mother who suffers from an auto-immune disease. I have always been interested in science especially when it could be applied to the mechanics of the human body. Over a year ago I was presented with the opportunity to work as a chemistry tutor at Glendale Community College's main campus. I didn't hesitate to take the offer because I loved chemistry and I was excited to help other students with the topic. Working as a tutor has been life-changing. Not only do I develop a better understanding of the material myself, but it didn't take me long to discover that I was passionate about teaching.

Funny intro or professional one? I couldn't decide, so I went with honest. My name is Cruz Baciewicz, I'm a Computer Systems Engineering student at Arizona State. My desire to become a tutor started back when my little brother needed help with his math homework. Not only did I enjoy it, but there were positive results for him as well. I have a well-rounded background including everything most math-related fields (as my major requires me to have an extensive mathematical background), computing, and acting. Although most technical students don't have the time, or perhaps the desire, to engage in an art, I actively pursue my artistic interest acting in movies and taking classes. I also grew up playing sports, specifically football, and take interest in most others as well. My goal is to challenge myself to help a student find what it is that they are missing in the material, and of course, produce better scores as a result. In most cases, the ability is already there and you just need something to help unlock a deeper understanding.

I am a student at Arizona State University in the biomedical engineering department. I will be earning my Bachelor's degree in May of 2015 and beginning my master's degree in biomedical engineering in August 2015. The research that I have been working on is studying more direct routes of drug delivery within the body as well as developing code for counting cells. I am an avid learner and love to share my knowledge with those around me. My favorite courses to tutor are predominantly quantitative. I like to treat these courses like an intricate puzzle that I have to solve using the skills in my "skill tool belt". I would love to share my enthusiasm for these courses with the students I tutor, helping them realize their skills and increasing their confidence in the material. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and my Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Reading, both from Arizona State University.
