I am passionate about helping students because it is in my DNA. I am a 3rd generation educator so I have teaching in my blood. Lol. Also, I have witnessed how teachers impact the lives of children in a tremendous way. I have had the opportunity to teach in 3 different states including the midwest and the south. These students have ranged in grades from kindergarten to fourth grades. I have 11 years of classroom experience in public schools and charter schools. I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from USC. I am presently enrolled in a Master's program in Counseling. This will help strengthen my understanding of the various children and their family dynamics. I will learn how that plays a role in their learning process and how I can best teach them. The subjects I tutor are mainly Reading, Writing and Math in the elementary levels K-5. My favorite subjects to tutor are these three just mentioned. It is a three way tie because they all work together. My teaching philosophy is that every child can learn. We just have to find their learning style and teach them where they are-even if they are grade levels behind. If they already excel, I believe in pushing them forward at a pace that suites them. My style of tutoring is getting to know the student first and implementing their likes. I am also very professional and very patient. Outside of teaching I love to spend time with my family, attend church in person or virtually, meet new people, roller skate, and read about new things.

Perhaps the best word to describe my love for teaching and learning is PASSIONATE! Since I was seven years old, I knew I would become a teacher. After earning my Associates Degree at Broward College and then obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at (FIU) Florida International University, I was fortunate enough to receive a full scholarship from FIU to earn my Master's Degree in Urban Education. It was only a matter of time before I aimed in pursuit of the highest degree one can earn, hence receiving my Doctoral Degree in Advanced Classroom Instruction Professional Studies from Capella University. With exposure to all Elementary School subjects, I have taught a little of everything from 1st grade to 2nd grade to 3rd grade to 4th grade. I even worked as an Educational Specialist for my school district at the time in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It wasn't until I started teaching at the High School level that I realized my true calling: Reading/Language Arts/ Grammar/Writing. The joy on my students' faces when they listened to themselves reading orally on tape and then compared that recording to the one that I had previously recorded of them at the beginning of the school year is to date my favorite experience as an educator. At present, I left the classroom and now tutor full-time. I tutor all elementary subjects (Grades K-5), as well as grades K through 12th in Reading/Language Arts/ Grammar/Writing.My favorite thing to do outside of tutoring is to write. I am proud to say that I have five children's books written and published.I believe in working hard, always trying, doing your best, challenging yourself, and making the best of every situation, and I apply those beliefs in how I teach/tutor. It is my job to teach you. It is your job to let me teach you so you can learn. Let's do this together.

I earned a Master of Science in Human Services, with a specialization in Social and Community Services from Capella University. I also earned a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services from Wright State University.I have worked with families from all walks of life. Many of the families have been resource rich in very unique ways, but have lived in under-resourced areas. At times, such challenges made it difficult for parents to make sure that basic needs were met, which oftentimes had an impact on the learning process of their children - and additional support systems were needed. In previous roles such as Early Childhood Educator, Tutor, School Based Program Coordinator, Community Based Program Coordinator, and Assistant Camp Director, I worked to get to the root of challenges and helped families and children to move to their next level - whatever that meant for each family- by linking them to resources, or serving as an additonal resource. I most enjoyed building relationships, learning about each individual's strengths, and nurturing interests. I also enjoyed teaching families and children the importance of accountability and helping them to visualize, and embrace, their future story. While I have a broad range of experiences, I am most passionate about nurturing students who are interested in learning Spanish, and those who need support with building better study skills and organizational skills. I believe that everyone has the ability to make improvements. My goal with students is to identify what they do know, and understand, and build on that - brick by brick- focusing on progress, not perfection in helping them to reach their goals.

I came to the United States from Puerto Rico right after high school. Back then, my English was limited, but I had the good fortune of meeting professors and tutors who spent some extra time with me and helped me succeed along the way. I graduated from the University of Dayton in Ohio with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Education. Because I saw the impact that people could have in students' lives, I decided I wanted to dedicate my life to teaching. I have been teaching for over 20 years, from junior high all the way to college, which is my current job. I like tutoring Spanish and ESL (we call it EAP at the college level English for Academic Purposes) since those are the subjects I teach. I am also passionate about Math, and although I do not have a degree in that subject, I have taken many courses at the college level for my own personal enrichment. From a young age, I have been passionate about helping students unlock the beauty and logic of mathematics. This passion has guided me through a 16-year teaching journey, during which I have had the privilege of working with students across different grade levels. My teaching career began with 10 years in 4th grade, followed by 2 years in 6th grade, and currently, I am teaching middle school math, where I have spent the last 4 years. Each of these experiences has deepened my commitment to helping students develop strong mathematical foundations and a love for learning. I hold a PhD in P-12 Studies, which has equipped me with a deep understanding of the educational landscape from early childhood through high school. This academic background, combined with my extensive teaching experience, allows me to create a learning environment that is both challenging and supportive. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed in math, and my goal is to help them realize that potential by fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset. Mathematics is not just a subject I teach; it is a subject I love. My favorite topics to tutor begin with elementary algebra and geometry because they offer students the foundational opportunity to explore patterns, structures, and relationships in a way that is both abstract and tangible. I enjoy guiding students through these topics, helping them see the connections between mathematical concepts and the real world. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that learning should be student-centered and inquiry-based. I strive to create an interactive and engaging classroom where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring new ideas. My tutoring style is adaptive, focusing on each student's unique needs and learning styles. I use a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on activities, visual aids, and real-world applications, to make math accessible and enjoyable for all students. Outside of academia, I have a keen interest in educational research and continuously seek opportunities to stay updated with the latest teaching strategies and technological tools. I also enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends, which provides me with the balance and inspiration needed to bring fresh energy into my classroom
