Have a bachelors degree in Economics, a masters degree in business and administration and a doctorate in business administration. I graduated college with a degree in sociology with a concentration in criminal justice. I didn't know if I would find a job teaching upon graduation, but I find one and I absolutely love it! I became interested in learning Spanish in middle school because of the neighborhood I lived in. Everyone around me spoke Spanish. After taking classes all throughout middle & high school, it became a goal for me to become fluent. Therefore I decided to pursue my Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Psychology from the University of California, Davis. In college I tutored foreign exchange students from Latin America and helped them learn English. I also had an internship at a an elementary school in their Spanish Immersion Program where I taught 5th graders lessons in Spanish. I didn't know I had a passion for working with students until I started working with middle & high school students at an outreach program. During my 3 years working with students I realized that resources and guidance are what determines a student's future and I wanted to be able to help impact student's lives by giving them the resources I didn't have access to growing up. I am honored to help students start down a path toward making those opportunities happen.I am qualified to tutor a broad range of subjects, but I most excited about helping students improve their overall abilities in all facets of English (including Literature), Art, and Social Studies. That does not mean you need to be majoring in those areas. If you are taking a course in one of those areas, whatever your major might be, I want to help you.My approach to teaching is in guiding students toward realizations. I enjoy interacting with students, creating a dialog, helping them come to their own conclusions, rather than simply giving them the conclusions. My style is informal, but focused. Learning should be engaging, not boring. Some of the best professors I had over the years were in courses outside my majors. Even though I had little interest in the subject matter, they made the material engaging, and I learned a lot.Outside of academic pursuits, I do a lot of weight-lifting, and I enjoy being outdoors. I do study popular culture, so my hobbies and research interests are the same. I am a gamer. I also collect books of all kinds (and comic books), and I do a lot of writing. Also, huge Doctor Who fan.

As a passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated educator and coach, I bring over 12 years of experience and extensive training working with students of all ages. My mission has always been to empower students to recognize and express their strengths, while equipping them with realistic, effective strategies to achieve their goals. I believe that every student deserves the tools and confidence to present themselves in the best possible light, and I consider it my calling to help them discover just how capable they truly are. After earning my degree in Education from Central Michigan University, I spent six impactful years teaching middle school, where I honed my skills in math, reading, writing, grammar, standardized test preparation, and study skills. After spending time in the classroom, I chose to pursue private tutoring and coaching for my former students in their high school years. These core academic areas remain a strong foundation of my tutoring, and I work best with students grades 3 through 12. I take pride in tailoring instruction to meet individual learning needs while maintaining high expectations for growth and achievement. My approach is both compassionate and results-oriented. I understand that learning is not one-size-fits-all, and I strive to create environments where students feel safe to challenge themselves, make mistakes, and celebrate progress. I take the time to get to know my students, not just as learners, but as individuals with unique stories and potential. Outside of my professional life, I find balance and inspiration through teaching and practicing yoga, hiking, and spending quality time with my Frenchie, Gordo. These passions ground me and fuel my creativity, patience, and mindfulnessqualities that I bring into my work every day.
