Hello, my name is Michael Leard, I am currently a junior at Florida Institute of Technology where I am pursuing Aerospace Engineering. I enjoy outdoor/water activities such as hiking, swimming, and SCUBA diving. I also enjoy physics and math.I have taken math classes up until Differential Equations, and physics classes up until special relativity. Calculus I (Calculus AB AP) is my most experienced class. I have taken the AP exam where I earned a 3 and decided to retake in college where I earned a B. I continued to tutor many of my friends in Calculus I where their grades also turned out to be very successful.

Hi there fellow scientist!I have been working in the field of behavior analysis as a trainer/educator for more than 5 years. I am looking forward to support you in your learning journey. My passion for self improvement also led me to become a yoga teacher and inner development coach.Teaching Spanish is one of the most fun things I could do. I lived and traveled to many Spanish speaking countries and not only learned the nuances of Spanish between them but also their culture and traditions. I promise you that you will learn more than just how to communicate in Spanish if you choose me as your teacher.
Hey everybody, my name is Zach. I am a student at the Florida Institute of Technology. My major is Aviation Management with Flight and a minor in Unmanned Aircraft Systems. I plan on flying for a fortune 500 corporate flight division. It's my goal to help students get a better understanding of areas they are having trouble in so they can excel on their own academic journey.
If you're looking for a highly adaptive, qualified tutor, with a passion for the subjects they teach, I am the tutor for you.I grew up as an a military brat, moving 18 times before graduating college! This required me to constantly acclimate to different standards and teaching styles. Fortunately, my father was very focused on my academic performance. He ensured that no matter where we lived, I had an environment that challenged me. By the time I graduated high school, I was one of the 10% of applicants accepted into the United States Military Academy at West Point. At the United States Military Academy, I served as a tutor for all class years. My subjects included Composition 101, Advanced Composition, general essay editing, and Portuguese. In 2010, I had the opportunity to study in Rio de Janeiro at Brazil's Military Engineering Institute. While in Brazil, I also worked as an English tutor. After graduating West Point, I commissioned as an officer in the United States Army. As a Logistics Officer, I worked for bosses with many different specialties. This required me to translate how my Soldiers' capabilities could enhance the performance for a combat arms mission. Additionally, the Soldiers I worked with came from all over the world! Interacting with them taught me the importance of observation. By observing others, I was able to interact with them in a way that ensured we remained on the same page and accomplished what we needed to do.Often times, Soldiers I worked with were taking night classes or completing degrees online. These Soldiers often asked me for assistance with their writing assignments. I found it very fulfilling to be able to help them gain confidence in writing, especially because they often helped me gain confidence with different aspects of our job.I retired from the Army as a Captain, and am now pursuing my master's degree in Logistics Management. I applied for a position with Varsity Tutors because it offers me flexibility and the opportunity to do something I enjoy. I am happy they selected me to be one of their tutors and hope that you will consider selecting me as well!

I have designed and built over 10 websites for organizations. I have 6 certificates in Python programming, 2 certificates in HTML/CSS and a certificate in JavaScript. My tutoring style is to spend time emphasizing the concepts of programming and make sure these concepts are understood. Once the programming concepts are understood the actual writing of code becomes much easier. I also spend time finding out what the student feels he/she has difficulty understanding. We will also review code that is already written so I can analyze the student's understanding of this code. I have a passion for helping others experience success in the STEM fields. I'm easy to reach by email, text or phone and will provide a fast response. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions.
I am one year from completing my Bachelor of Science at the Florida Institute of Technology. I am majoring in both Astronomy and Astrophysics, as well as Planetary Science; with a minor in Computer Science. Upon completion of my Bachelor degree I plan on pursuing a Masters degree, most likely in Physics, Exoplanetary Studies, or Engineering Physics. I find that most students struggle in math and physics because they lack true engagement towards these topics, it is my personal philosophy that how you learn a subject can immensely impact your abilities to succeed in and willingness to pursue related subjects in your academic career. I enjoy working with all ages, as I believe it is never too late to start learning and I enjoy helping students become passionate about their studies. Personally; I am passionate about the fundamental interplay between foundational mathematics and its applications to higher-level physics. My tutoring style/strategies require interactive engagement with students and honest communication; this allows me to understand precisely what is necessary to enhance your learning experience, and encourages students to engage with the content with curiosity and excitement. I feel comfortable tutoring subjects ranging from elementary school mathematics, up to college level mathematics and physics courses. I have experience tutoring my college peers in a wide-range of topics from college algebra and calculus to advanced physics courses such as Electromagnetic Theory and Physical Mechanics.
I am fortunate; I get to do the best job in the world. While teaching is my second career, it was always what I wanted to do. When I graduated from college, I was offered a position with my college's admissions and marketing office, where I had been working to put myself through school. It was a tremendous opportunity, and launched an eighteen-year career helping high school students make important decisions about their futures, and navigate an often complex admissions and financial aid system. I loved working with students, being around bright, engaging people, and doing work that made a difference. But each time I walked through a high school to present a workshop on writing college essays or preparing for college interviews, I was reminded of how deeply I still wanted to be in a classroom. So I took the plunge, and now spend my days teaching social studies to great students at a great school. I have taught world history, American history, sociology, psychology, economics, and even developed a high school course in teaching for students seeking a career in education. I am passionate about understanding how the past has shaped the present, and helping students recognize their critical role in protecting and preserving democracy. In addition to teaching course curricula, I work with students on writing skills, standardized test preparation, and college essays, because all of these skills will help them reach their academic goals. As a teacher, I believe that it is critical to help students develop the ability to regulate their own learning, and implement meta-cognitive strategies that will serve them in college and beyond. When I'm not teaching, I am a mom to a high school sophomore, a long-distance mom to two college students, a gardener who grows lots of organic vegetables, and an avid reader of anything historical. If I can help you in a specific subject area, or with essays, test preparation, or homework support, either face-to-face or on-line, let me know!
With over 20 years of experience in military, civilian, and academic aviation training, I bring a deep well of instructional expertise and a passion for helping others reach their full potential. My journey began as a Certified Flight Instructor, where I trained university students in various aviation programs, preparing them for Private, Instrument, and Commercial, and Instructor certifications. Since then, I've led aviation safety programs, conducted operational test and evaluation flights, and delivered both in-person and online instruction across technical and leadership domains. I hold a Ph.D. in Organizational Development, a Master of Science in Human Systems Integration from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Master's in Aviation Human Factors from Florida Tech. These degrees reflect not only a lifelong commitment to education, but also my dedication to helping others learn efficiently and effectively. Whether I'm supporting students in aviation, organizational leadership, statistics, or exam preparation, I combine academic insight with practical application to create engaging, results-driven sessions. Beyond subject-matter tutoring, I specialize in helping learners prepare for interviewsparticularly for competitive programs, aviation careers, and leadership roles. I've coached professionals at all stages in articulating their strengths, refining their communication, and building confidence under pressure. My tutoring philosophy is centered on adaptability and encouragement. I believe in meeting learners where they are, identifying their unique goals, and tailoring my approach to foster both understanding and long-term growth. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring emerging technologies, flying charity missions with Angel Flights, and studying new languages. Education has transformed my lifeand I'm honored to help others along that path.
As a naturalized citizen of the United States of America, I am very passionate about helping student improve their communication skills both in Spanish and English. When I came to the US from Barranquilla, Colombia, I didn't want to learn English; so, I became a truck driver 18-wheleer in Miami, Florida. Even though I was doing great, after four years driving trucks, I decided to relocate to Palm Bay, Florida, and join the United States Army as a paratrooper of the 82nd Airborne Division. During my active-duty time in the US Army, I earned my Associate in Arts degree at Campbell University in North Carolina. Then, I went back to Palm Bay to pursue my bachelor's degree in Communication at Florida Institute of Technology, where I graduated magna cum laude in 2003.After graduating in Florida Tech as a communicator, I started writing for the local daily newspaper FLORIDA TODAY in the business section. While working there as an intern, I started my own bilingual newspaper AL DIA TODAY. Then, 9 years later, I graduated with my master's degree in Global Strategic Communication in 2013, also at Florida Tech. The same year, I founded the Brevard Hispanic Center, a non-profit organization under the 501 c 3 code of the IRS that helps individuals and families in areas of education, health, family issues, immigration, and economic empowerment. At the Brevard Hispanic Center, I created the English Language Integration Program (ELI Program) to help individuals that went to school in other countries while improving their level of English, so they could work in the US in their careers.Currently, I am pursuing my PhD in Text and Technology at the University of Central Florida. I continue publishing the bilingual newspaper AL DIA TODAY and providing digital marketing solutions to businesses and organizations. Besides tutoring at Varsity Tutors, I serve my community through the Brevard Hispanic Center.
I am a recent graduate from the Florida Institute of Technology where I earned my degree in Mathematical Sciences and STEM Education. I am working towards getting my Master's in Actuarial Science from Boston University. My student teaching internship was with a geometry class, and that also happens to be my favorite subject to tutor. I can also tutor algebra 1, pre-calculus, calculus 1, and other math subjects listed on my profile. I strongly believe that math is an integral part to becoming a well-rounded individual because it not only teaches concrete ideas, but it also teaches students problem-solving skills that can be applied to other disciplines as well. I am a former college softball player, and I have been involved with softball since I was 4 years old. Aside from math, I am a huge history buff. If i ever end up in the classroom, I know I will find a way to intertwine the two subjects.
My undergraduate degree in Math Education is from Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. I have two master's degrees, one in Computer Resources and Information Management and the other in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas.I am passionate about teaching and tutoring middle and high school math. In addition, I have experience working at a community college and can help with College Preparatory Math and College Algebra. I have worked both in the classroom and virtually. My favorite math subject is Precalculus because I love Trigonometry!!I believe that ANY student can be successful in math but may need help. Making sure a student is comfortable is the first step and exploring what they are struggling with is second. Frequently, after understanding what a student may need, I create a plan that matches their unique learning style.Maybe you want to improve your college applications by getting help with the SAT or being more prepared for your next math class. We can work on that also.I have traveled all over the world! Extensively in Europe and to visit my son in Thailand. At home, my companions are my dog Sparkles and Tina Turner the cat. They love to cuddle. Also, I love taking walks, working in the garden, watching TV, listening to music, and hanging out with friends.I would love to help you with all of your middle and high school math tutoring needs. I am a student at Florida Tech, obtaining my Computer Engineering Degree. I also have my high school diploma and certifications lining with what I tutor. I teach math, science, and computer tech(coding, hardware, cybersecurity), but I am not limited to these subjects. I like to teach math, as some people find it the hardest, but for me, once you get it, it will be a breeze. My teaching style will consist of games, confidence, and fun to help the student learn without falling asleep.
I have been teaching for over 18 years. I have taught middle-school, high-school, and college-level Computer Science and Business classes. I have tutored elementary, middle-school, and high-school students in math and algebra. My teaching philosophy centers around creating a supportive learning environment that empowers students to become confident problem solvers. The biggest thing I focus on is learning about my student. Every student has different needs and ways that they learn, and once I figure that out, the student will be more successful. I have helped several students with ADD, ADHD, anxiety, and high-functioning autism over the years. One of the best things about teaching is when you see a student have that a-ha moment and know that they finally understand and that all their hard work has paid off.
I am a Computer Science Student Athlete at Florida Institute of Technology. I am in my junior year at FIT and am looking forward to helping any and all students!
I am a graduate of both Florida Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Boston University with a Master of Science in Physics.During my time as a graduate student at Boston University I worked in both classroom environments and one-on-one with physics students, as well as in the classroom with the Graduate STEM Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12) program. As a BU Teaching Fellow I was responsible for leading discussion groups, working with students individually during office hours, and as a GK-12 fellow I spent a semester teaching with a high school physics teacher in the classroom.Because my physics background entails studying a wide variety of math backgrounds I am qualified to tutor most subjects in both math and science. I most enjoy teaching calculus and physics because I find it beautiful how well they integrate with and play off of each other. Calculus is the language that describes physics, and a large part of physics is calculus applied to the world.I like to begin engaging with students by seeing what stumbling blocks they are facing educationally and then finding ways to communicate and work through these ideas and processes. I think that understanding subjects like math and science can help you open up new pathways of understanding in the world, as well as improving critical thinking and problem solving. In my spare time I like to go cycling, rock climbing, and play billiards. All three of these activities I use as avenues to find and deepen my own focus. The bicycle is a device that is meant to make life easier, but allows the rider to make the experience as physically challenging as possible. I find that both rock climbing and billiards are a wonderful mixture of accuracy, finesse, strategic thinking and creative problem solving.
I earned my Master's degree in Professional Behavior Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology. I am currently a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and have obtained most of my experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities. I have worked with adults that have a variety of psychiatric diagnoses in improving maladaptive behavior to replace with appropriate behavior. I also have experience working within the school system with children and adolescents, as I hold a minor in education as well. I enjoy helping students reach their learning objectives by letting the student lead the lesson and be part of the discussion. I believe that for the student to achieve effective learning and progression that they must be included in the lecture. Behavior Analysis is my passion, and seeing students comprehend the content is personally gratifying for me. I believe that student achievement is a direct reflection of the teacher. If the student is achieving their learning objectives effectively, then I have done my job.
I am a graduate of Florida Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's in Biomathematics and STEM Education. I enjoy working with students in-person and online to achieve their highest potential and goals in math. I believe everyone has the ability to succeed given hard work and the right tools!
