Hello! I am excited to have the opportunity to share a little bit more about myself. I grew up in a very small town with a very loving family. When I am not teaching I love to travel, try new restaurants and foods, or watch sports. Also, family is a very important part of my life and who I am today. One thing that has truly made me the person I am today is teaching and education.I first fell in love with teaching at the age of sixteen when I enrolled in a program called Teachers for Tomorrow. Like many sixteen-year-olds, I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life after high school. I enrolled in the program because when I was in primary school I struggled greatly academically. I remembered a group of teenagers coming in and helping the teacher with some of the students that needed extra support with their work. I registered for the class and have never left the classroom since. I entered my first classroom for the program and was able to work with a second-grade class. Each day I looked forward to being able to leave the high school and work with the students. After graduation, I attended Liberty University where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special Education with additional endorsements in middle school education and history. Afterwards, I went back to my hometown and began teaching fifth-grade special education. During this time I started working on my Master's in Special Education from Liberty University. I continued teaching in my hometown in fourth and fifth-grade special education and general education. While continuing to teach in my hometown I saw a true need for additional support in reading and language arts. In the spring of my seventh year of teaching, I decided to enroll at Grand Canyon University in the Master's program for curriculum and instruction for reading. After completing the program I was able to assist more students in my hometown. I also earned a certification in Autism Spectrum Disorder. My teaching philosophy and tutoring style is based on the idea that the teacher has to meet the student where they are academically, emotionally, and mentally. A teacher should be able to meet a child's needs in all these areas in order for the instruction to be successful and have goals met. During tutoring sessions, there will be activities that are fun, educational, rigorous, and appropriate for the student. My passion for teaching and creating quality instruction comes from my struggles as a young student. When I was in primary school I struggled greatly in school and required extra assistance. It truly affected me in many ways even though I was very young. I decided that I never want any student to ever feel the way I did as that student that struggled to keep up with the work.Over the past eleven years, I have been working as a full-time teacher. I have instructed many different grade levels. I spent a majority of my time working with fourth and fifth graders in general education and special education. Currently, I teach Pre-K and am a mentor teacher for Kindergarten. I also have experience with first grade and second grade where I was an instructional leader for a summer program.Currently, I am available to teach any subject from kindergarten to fifth grade. I am also available for middle school English, executive functioning, reading comprehension, students with learning difficulties, and students with special needs. My favorite subjects to teach are elementary reading and math because it allows me to be creative and present the material in a fun and interesting way. I look forward to working with you in the future.

I love helping my students reach academic success and taking ownership of their learning. I have been in the education field for over 10 years. I have been an educator for 11 years. I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science from Concordia University Wisconsin in 2004 and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University in 2010. I have taught all ages, from kindergarten, to high school, to adult learners, both in a classroom setting, as well as in a homeschooling setting and in individual tutoring sessions. My joy and passion is teaching, especially when I can see the students that I work with grow in their understanding and knowledge and really start to "get it". Not only am I teaching reading, writing, math, and other specialized skills, I am also instilling confidence, self esteem, and belief into the students I work with. It is so very exciting for me to see students develop and blossom over time. My hope is that my passion for teaching will be felt and that I can connect with my students that will positively impact their academic futures, both in the short term and in the long term.
I am of the belief that results are what people know of you. People will never care about how much you know until they know how much you care. I believe that the benefits of an education are priceless beyond measure!

I focus on helping students develop critical thinking skills, test-taking strategies, and clinical reasoning -- the key components needed to succeed on the NCLEX and in practice. I have experience working as a classroom teacher. Specifically with 2/3rd grade, however I have experience teaching at all levels k-12.
I have completed my doctoral degree in education from Grand Canyon University, EdD. I have received two master's degrees: an MBA-Finance and an MA in Adult Education. My undergraduate degree was in nursing science. I have been tutoring students for over thirty years, preparing each to pass standardized tests for entry into a healthcare profession. Being the only child and coming from a very poor environment, I learned the opportunities that having an education can provide for you and your family. Education improved the quality of my life and my family. As a creative and innovative educator, leader, and professional administrator, I thrive on challenges and change. Nurturing and encouraging the lifelong learning of students is critical in the role of an educator. Techniques like case studies, activities, discussions, and even humor can prompt students to think critically, creatively, and explore their natural curiosity. As an educator, students will feel that no question is too silly to ask. My educational beliefs are based on the fact that learning is a possibility for everyone. Learning occurs when the educator is able to link, in the brain, a bridge from the lack of knowledge to new knowledge, then the student comprehends.
I have been teaching for the last 2 years in Algebra 2 and Geometry and honors. I am looking to support students in the 6-12 grade range this summer and support building their math skills.
With over 17 years of experience in K-12 education, I am dedicated to helping students unlock their full potential through personalized, evidence-based instruction. My philosophy centers on the belief that every student is capable of success when met with the right tools and encouragement.
I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Morgan State University, a Master's degree as a Reading Specialist from Brooklyn College, and a Master's in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University. I am a 30-year veteran elementary school educator. I have taught K-4th grades in large urban centers. In my roles as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal, I've worked mainly with underserved student bodies from Baltimore, MD, to Brooklyn, NY. As an elementary school teacher, I have taught all subjects, but I have a passion for teaching reading. Reading is the one skill that you have to know how to do in order to learn all the other content areas. Reading is not only necessary for learning. Reading is also something to be enjoyed. I want to share my love of reading with the students that I tutor.
I completed my Master's of Education in Special Education at Grand Canyon University on December 2021. The Master's degree in helping students with mild to moderate disabilities. My Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Portland State University. My philosophy is each child has a unique way to learn. Some children are auditory learners, some are visual learners, and others are a combination of both. It is easy to learn in an environment that makes children curious and not afraid to take chances. Children need to use their mental abilities and social skills, take what they learned, and apply it to life learning. A teacher is to guide and help them but not enabling the child by being overly helpful. Children learn best through hands-on activities and exploring their world. I have two quotes that I believe. The first one is, "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has to own reasoning for existing" By Albert Einstein. The second quote is "Mistakes are proof you are learning" Jennifer Lim.

Helping struggling students to succeed in reading, writing and math is the most rewarding aspect of my career as a teacher. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. Hello everyone, my name is Chris. I have been teaching students for over two years. I have an outstanding rapport with students from ages 5 through 16 in tutoring. I am proficient at meeting schedules and deadlines. I have excellent communication skills and a talent for interpersonal relations. I have experience implementing instruction based on a student's IEP and provide creative learning opportunities for students to learn unique subject materials.
I am passionate about helping students because I enjoy learning and making an impact on one's education. Also, I love and enjoy teaching English. I have tutored and helped college students with essay writing for over ten years. I currently teach 10th grade English and prepare students for the Texas State Assessment. I received my Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from Grand Canyon University. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in English with a minor in Creative Writing. My favorite subject to tutor is English, especially essay writing. I love to write and I love to teach techniques on writing an essay.
I have extensive experience in English, Writing, communication, public speaking and classroom teaching. I have been trained and educated in effective public speech, rhetoric, persuasive argument, and humor.
The reason I am passionate about helping students is becauseI love to see children learn. It is a joy watching them discover new skills. To know that I had a part in that makes me continue in my work. In every grade level I taught, my students have succeeded above average. As a matter of fact, 90% of my 6th grade class exceeded their state exam scores. 70% of the students were accepted into the honors class the very next year as a result of passing that exam. Those students came into my classroom as the lowest academic children for that grade level but left as honor students. That would not have happened if I did not have the desire to pull the best out of them.I have taught and tutored children for over 12 years. As a classroom teacher, I taught Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4rth, and 6th grade. As a tutor, I worked with children from kindergarten to 8th grade. For 7th and 8th grade,I only tutored the subject Reading/ELA.I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University, Bloomington and later earned my master's degree in Early Childhood Education.I tutor math up to the 4th grade. However, my favorite subject to teach is Reading. I currently teach Reading (English Language Arts) up to the 6th grade. Younger children love the way I read stories to them. When I taught preschool online during the pandemic, I recorded myself reading stories. One of the parents told me that her daughter would ask to view one of my story videos before going to sleep. It doesn't matter what grade level, I am always commended by school administrators and parents for my ability to teach reading. In the younger grades, I am successful with teaching children how to read. In the upper grades, I am successful with developing reading skills. My classes always have the highest reading scores compared to my comrades. This is not to brag, I am just sharing the results of my experiences. Reading has always been a favorite of mine. I was reading the King James Bible by the second grade. I was reading above grade level all throughout my school years. I was always the one in class reading with expression. Today, I try to get children excited about reading as well. The more excited children are about reading, the more they will become interested in reading which in turn will help develop their reading skills.I like for children to learn naturally - to use everyday life situations as the basis for their learning. I am certified to teach Montessori in the home, which is a holistic way of teaching. Learning in a natural way is less stressful for children. I will be honest, however, it can be difficult for me to use my teaching philosophy when I am not in the right type of environment. I'm always concerned about others' opinions.Outside of academia, I do a lot of traveling for the church, usually in the summertime. I am a youth leader of an organization that focuses on developing youth that brings out their God given talents and interests. It's a lot of fun.
