Everyone is naturally good at math. If you believe otherwise, I'd be happy to prove it to you! Math anxiety is real, and it's okay to have math anxiety. Sometimes, we need to hear things in a specific way to understand them- and that is what math gives us: The ability to understand multiple perspectives so we can grow. I started tutoring during college, in 1999, and I have been blessed to teach students with different educational goals from many different backgrounds since then. I struggled in high school because none of my teachers explained things the way I needed them explained. That drove me to educate myself and find creative ways to learn what I needed and what I wanted. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 2006 from Southern Polytechnic State University. My grandfather and grandmother taught Math and Education classes at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), so I got my love for teaching quite honestly. I have over 20 years of experience teaching every age nearly every subject. My passion is mathematics, and I absolutely love writing papers and helping others learn. Your education is the one thing no one can take from you. I'd love to help you educate yourself!

I specialize in tutoring children who are between the ages of 5 and 12. Specifically, I am qualified to tutor students in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. My preferences tend towards Science and Social Studies; however, I am more than proficient in each of the said subjects. I believe that every student should have access to a good education no matter what personal reasons they may be going through. I am 19 years old pursuing a degree in biology on the pre medical route. Although I am looking to be a doctor, I have loved learning and teaching math for a while now. I know that being a good tutor is not just about being proficient in a subject but, also being able to relay the information to different types of people. I know that math is something that a lot of students struggle with no matter the age, but I am certain that I can aid with this difficult subject.

Hello, my name is Anita and I enjoy helping others. Presently, I work as an associate attorney, and in my free time, I mentor young adults and volunteer at various organizations serving the less fortunate. I love reading, exploring new places and cultures, and I enjoy meeting new people. My academic career has been challenging but rewarding. I understand we are all different and some people tend to be better in some things than they are in others. I too understand my limitations. However, I have tried to help others in any way possible. Most recently, I have tutored students that sat for the Pennsylvania Bar Exam. However, I have also assisted students in elementary school, high school and college. I love learning new things and so for me school was always about exploring areas that I knew nothing about. I recognize that not everyone shares the same passion but I do not believe that the lack of passion should result in negative grades or outcomes. Education is very important and so whether you need a little push or simply more ideas on a subject matter, I look forward to working with you.

People always ask me why I chose to become a teacher. The truth is that I always knew. Ever since I was a little girl, my mother would always find me with all my toys lined up in front of me, and me in front of a chalkboard teaching them how to draw. There is really nothing like teaching. I think it is the most gratifying profession in the world. I absolutely love the outcome of what I do because I believe in long lasting relationships and long lasting thirst for knowledge. That is exactly what I teach my students. I teach them that the sky is the limit and that "I can't" should not be a part of their vocabulary. I am great at seeing the potential in everyone and not giving up until they see it too and live up to it.For the past 7 years, I have been a part of a wonderful community while working as a High School I.B. Art Teacher for the American School of Quito in Ecuador. I worked with 11th and 12th graders on the production of high quality art production, careful planning, reflection and written critical analysis with creative problem solving skills. This job has brought enormous opportunities for professional and personal growth. Being part of this demanding program has been very challenging but also filled with rewards. Making students' faces light up when their hard efforts pay off and they finally "get it", is priceless! My I.B. annual scores have always been above world average. My students have participated in national and international art contests with magnificent results with prizes and awards. I have formed an amazing bond with them that, I am sure, will last a lifetime. I still have students who I taught 7 years ago, tell me that what I taught them has stayed with them all these years. And like I said, that is what teaching is all about. That is why I became a teacher.I have good conflict resolution skills, I am patient, I am fair and I have enthusiastic energy. I believe I am qualified for a teaching job within your community and I will make a valuable addition to your team.

I've been programming for nine years now, and I think it's a very important skill to learn. Simple applications have the potential to save literal days of time quickly doing tedious tasks. I've taught several friends, and I love watching them build on their knowledge. My education started out as self-teaching, but I'm currently working towards a Bachelor of Computer Science at Kennesaw State University. I've worked with C++, but now mostly use C# and Java. My other languages include HTML5, CSS3, JS, PHP5, and Python.I'm also very proficient in mathematics, especially Algebra. In fact, before I switched my major to Computer Science, I was pursuing a Mathematics major. I feel that algebra is one of the most important math skills to develop as it is what most further math classes build off of. It's also by far the most useful field.I feel that learning should be done incrementally as trying to learn everything at once is overwhelming and ultimately unsuccessful. Smaller bites of knowledge are easier to digest, leading to a more rich understanding. Another thing paramount to building understanding is to let students have fun with the assignments! It's always better to build something that you're fond of rather than something you were forced to.Outside of tutoring, I work on my degree, build applications and work on building an interconnected system of computers. I also have a side-project game that I'm developing.I'm looking forward to working with you!

The English language has always fascinated me. It began when I was young, with my mom reading to me and sharing her own passion for literature. I soon began obsessively reading on my own, and that has continued to this day; I have a collection of over two hundred books that I am very proud of.My interest in reading blossomed naturally into writing. In school, I had to analyze the books I was reading, which made them even more interesting to me. They were saying much more than what was written on the page. Being able to decipher hidden meanings in stories and then articulate my ideas about them in writing made it even more exciting for me.When I began college, I chose English as my major so that I could further my knowledge of literature and hone my skills as a reader and writer. I received my Associate's Degree in English from Gordon State College, and then transferred to Kennesaw State University, where I am currently one semester away from obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in English with two minors: Professional Writing and Film Studies. After my Bachelor's Degree, I plan to pursue a Master's Degree in Professional Writing and, perhaps after that, a PhD in Linguistics.During my time at KSU, I have become much more interested in creative writing. I have written several short stories, both fiction and nonfiction, although fiction is my favorite. I have also become interested in the Film and Television industries. My fascination with analyzing literature has grown to include analyzing films and TV, as well. I have begun screenwriting and I hope to one day work for a network as a TV screenwriter. I spend much of my time watching TV shows and movies on Netflix, but I think of it more as research for my future career than leisure, although it is a little bit of both.At KSU, I am also a Writing Assistant at the Writing Center. This is where I began tutoring. I work with members of the KSU community with anything writing related. Through the Writing Center, I have received many opportunities to travel to conferences to discuss writing, my research, and Writing Centers themselves. I have also been given the opportunity to lead a group of young creative writers and teach them the fundamentals of creating a story. With this job at the Writing Center, as well as with working with Varsity Tutors, I found a way to use what I am passionate about to help others. My experience, both personal, academic, and professional, have given me an extensive knowledge of the English language, including the technical aspects of grammar and style. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and watching others discover their potential as a writer.I look forward to working with you on anything English and writing related!

After graduating, I decided to share my expertise with other students, and realized that English is a subject many students struggle in. It is a difficult subject to teach, but an important one in our day and age; whatever a student's aspirations may be, a firm grasp of reading and writing is an essential skill. That's why I'm so passionate about tutoring this subject. In a large classroom, it can be hard to take the time to give each student the personal attention they need. Every student's level of understanding is different, so I believe in offering specific, personalized help for students who want to improve their writing. I have been a teacher of Mathematics and Physics since 2008. I earned a BA in Mathematics and a MS in Statistics. I believe every student can learn and it's the job of the teacher to ensure that the student's unique learning style is activated. I am certified to teach Physics and Mathematics, and am currently working as an instructor of Mathematics and Programming at the Interactive College of Technology and Kennesaw State University. I believe when a subject is presented correctly, any student can develop a love for it. I have taught elementary students, high school students and college students, everything from basic Arithmetic to Vector Calculus and Complex Analysis. My experiences as a teacher have led me to stress the importance of realizing what the transferable skills are from Mathematics and that it is a human endeavor, above all else. I take a holistic approach to teaching, which means that students are expected to reason through problems algebraically, graphically, pictorially and verbally. When students are able to synthesize these four approaches to concept mastery, real understanding emerges, and students, perhaps for the first times in their lives, see what they are truly doing. Thanks for reading my profile, and I am eager to help your child discover the beauty of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics.

I pursed my Educational Specialist degree in Special Education from University of West Georgia in 2015. I have taught resource/co-taught K-5th in DeKalb County starting in 2013 for 5.5 years. I then went to teach resource/co-taught middle school math in 2018 for Gwinnett County Public Schools for 4 years. I am currently teaching self-contained Mild Intellectual/Moderate Intellectual Disabilities in Hall County School District starting in 2022. I believe that all students can learn, and they will learn to their potential. It might not be what everyone else is learning and it might not be at the same time as everyone else. I also believe that whatever a child is growing up to be, it will be the best they can be and will do the best they can do. I like working with students and believing in them and giving them the opportunity to learn and fill in the gaps that they are missing.
