I am passionate about helping students because I understand what it feels like to be left behind, in a subject, and nervous to ask for help. I want to be the kind of tutor that students are eager to come back to for more. I have worked with many a student, over the years, and each one has brought something new to the table. I went to Biola University for my Bachelor's degree in Political Science, so I'll admit I'm a bit of a nerd. I tutor a good handful of subjects, including reading and political science (a little bit of a duh), but I also love teaching art. I think my favorite subject to tutor in is a tossup between political science and art, because (1) I got my degree in political science, and (2) I'm an artist.

While still in high school, I tutored fellow students to help them achieve their academic goals. After four years of undergrad, my experiences and abilities as a tutor have grown in breadth and depth but my passion has not changed. Even now, I enjoy helping people understand and even come to like challenging subjects, like math and the sciences.
I have been tutoring off and on for the last 20 years and love it! Teaching students to see math in everyday life and take away the fear that is associated with the subject is something I am very passionate about! I have obtained a BS degree in Mathematics from Biola University and a BS degree in Civil Engineering from UC Irvine and have tutored elementary math and Algebra, all the way up to Calculus 2, Statistics and Physics. I am very experienced at learning the best way each student learns and to switch up styles to meet their needs in the best way possible. My other passions are sports, particularly baseball and hockey, I love hiking and other outdoor activities, working out, music and photography! If you want a tutor that is passionate about helping others to learn and to enjoy math, then I am the tutor for you!
I worked for UCSB's CLAS (Campus Learning Assistance Services) as an ACE Tutor/Writing Lab Drop-in Tutor. I tutored university students of all ages, including graduate students. In the ACE program, worked with first-year EOP (Educational Opportunities Program) students to encourage them in their writing and develop their own voices within their composition. Also, I provided additional peer support during the revision process and helped students to focus on the importance of organization and structure within an essay. When I was placed in the ACE program my first year of work, and I challenged first-year EOP (Educational Opportunities Program) students to develop their own voices within their composition. As a drop-in writing tutor, I provided constructive peer support during the revision process, drawing the students' attentions to the importance of structure and organization over grammar. My philosophy on writing and improving writing is that it's a process. I can't stress that enough. Writing goes beyond just having correct grammar and the ability to utilize an exhaustive vocabulary; it is a way of solidifying your thoughts as a small contribution to the world of education and, perhaps, the world at large. I am willing to invest the amount of time needed to polishing developing writers and students so that they come away with more than just a corrected essay or some more grammar knowledge; I am seeking to help them hear their own voice in their writing and bring that with them to the next step in their careers.I believe I'm uncommonly well-suited for being an English tutor because I've come from a place of not really being able to write. I got a C my first quarter of English in high school, and since then, I've averaged an A- in my college English courses. I have a personal investment in helping people with a desire to further their command of the language and a wish to hear their own voice come through in their writing, and I will help however I can to that end.If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me!
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Humanities, Philosophy & Art at Biola University, where I attended on an academic scholarship. My love for tutoring began in high School when I tutored children (ages 5-14) through a daycare where I worked with special needs children in Math, English, Social Sciences, and Writing.I was in a Speech Team for high school students from 2004-2007, where I trained them in English Literature, Communications, and Public Speaking. We focused on stage presence, diction, confidence, and articulate communication delivery. After high school, I moved to France to be an Au Pair for a French family, where I tutored the children (ages 8-12) in English and became proficient in French myself. When I returned to the United States in 2006, I continued my studies in French grammar for four years, while pursuing my Bachelor's Degree at Biola University.I am a Shakespeare aficionado, love running, hiking, dancing, singing, and reading masterfully written classics novels. I love helping people overcome their fears and struggles in learning, and helping them take joy in learning. I love tutoring French, and having studied the language myself in France. I enjoy helping students gain authentic pronunciation, colloquialisms, and conversation skills!I am cheerful, positive, and a dedicated worker. I bring professionalism and fun to every tutoring scenario. By setting reasonable and attainable goals, I creatively design every session to accommodate the student's needs and learning preferences. Each person is unique, and ought to be given the special attention that will best equip them with the confidence and skills they need to succeed!
I'm passionate about helping people understand theology and apologetics. I believe that understanding these issues will help people understand todays ideas and issues.
I am an English teacher in Round Rock, Texas for students from grades 6-AP. My passion for teaching is rooted in my interest in my students and my desire to invest in them. In May 2017, I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching. I also have a Bachelor of Arts in English from Biola University as well as a California Single Subject English Credential and Texas English Credential. These programs and my work in the classroom have been meaningful experiences for me to develop my skills as an educator. I appreciate the need to address my students' according to their specific needs and capabilities. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is adapting instruction to suit the students I am working with, so that I get to see the moment when lessons "click" for them.
As an undergraduate, I began to see a huge need to help the international community within our city learn and understand English to help provide a foundation for a better future. I first began helping fellow university students by being a conversation partner and later into teaching basic classes for the refugees in our community. In 2019 I taught ESL online through VIP Kid which helped seal a passion for younger learners. In 2020 I completed the CELTA certification and began working at a language school in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Since 2020 I have taught young learners and have helped them develop a passion for learning. I take a learner-centered approach and try to make the language-learning process as engaging as possible. I want to see students make their learning process their own. While at this language school, I saw I could better help my students by completing an M.A. in TESOL. I completed that degree from Biola University in May of 2023.
I graduated from Biola University with a B.A. in philosophy and a minor in Biblical studies. I taught high school students practical life lessons and theology at a local church for a year and am now looking to hone my critical thinking and communications skills by tutoring while I apply for graduate school.I tutor math and English, but between the two I favor English. It teaches us how to communicate ideas and, oftentimes, how to assess the quality of these ideastwo of the most crucial and universal skills we need in life.My goal is to help students get the most out of their education. This means more than just earning good grades. It means learning to enjoy school, learning how to learn, and learning how to think for themselves. It is an ambitious goal, but it is one for which any progress is cause for celebration. So when appropriate, I take my time to show students not just how to solve a problem but why it is important to solve and how it relates to everyday life.During my free time I like to work on cars. I own a Mazda Miata and a 350 hp STI-swapped Subaru Impreza. I also like to stay active. I go rock climbing and bouldering at indoor gyms and, occasionally, outdoors too. I also lift weights and play basketball to stay in shape.
