Hi there! I'm Christina, I love to find creative ways to teach each of my students based on their specific learning needs. Due to a collective 6+ years of tutoring mathematics to students of all grade levels, I am able to easily scaffold previous years' concepts that may be needed in order to to excel. I tutor from kindergarten math to Algebra I. I also love tutoring tests for higher learning; SAT & ACT Math, ISEE, SSAT all levels, and more. I have an AA degree in Biology and a B.S. with a minor in childhood education. I tutored math in my college's math lab,. a community resource center, and Varsity Tutors. For Biology, I found and sorted images of over 150 species to bolster my professor's lectures when in college. Don't worry, from 1st grade math to Algebra 1, SAT/ACT math, even mastering the Verbal, Reading, Writing, & Math for high school placement exams, what seems difficult, we can make easy together! :)

Math is incredibly fun for me to teach, I've always been that friend who worked with fellow peers during High School, and even in College would help other students with the Math problems we were given immediately after class outside the room. This experience has helped me know how to connect new concepts and old concepts to help others learn best!

There's no better feeling than helping someone. It has always brought me joy to see a student's face after they finally understand a concept they had been struggling with, or to see the joy they feel when they pass a test they were unsure of.I believe I'm a great tutor because I love Math, it's fun solving a problem. I try my hardest to relate to a student to better understand them and their study needs as well as gain their respect. I don't just help someone with the current topic they're working on, if I detect that they need to better understand something that was previously taught, I will spend the extra time to help them understand that topic as well.

I am a retired teacher, linguist - I speak 3 languages (English, Portuguese, and Spanish), wife, and mom of 5 amazing children. I was born and raised in the USA, spending most of my life in sunny south Florida, our family decided to move to Louisiana last year and we love it here. I have been a tutor (from young children to adults) for over 20 years. I was a certified teacher for 10 years. I have certifications in Elementary Education (K-6), Special Education (K-12), Pre-K ESE, as well as endorsements in Reading and in ESOL. I am a proud University of Miami alumni and have a Master's degree in Education with a focus on Early Childhood Special Education. I am TESOL certified (120 hours). I have taught everything from preschool through adult learners. I have taught gifted students, general education students, ESOL, and special education students. I am a certified and qualified teacher with 25 years of professional teaching experience, 10 years of substitute teaching experience, 10 years of experience as a Y.M.C.A senior group leader in Broward County's After School programs, and 30 years of private tutoring experience in all basic subjects from elementary to college levels. I'm a Biomedical Engineer (UF graduate Go Gators!) with more than five years of experience tutoring students from middle school through college. I adapt my teaching style to each student, using creativity, patience, and realworld examples to make challenging concepts finally "click." I believe math is the backbone of scientific thinking, and helping students master it is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
