I recently graduated from CUNY Hunter College. I received my Bachelors degree in Biology with Bioinformatics concentration and Chemistry focus. I am a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars. I have always been very passionate learning Organic Chemistry and helping others. Organic chemistry, a world of reactions and amazing concepts behind them urged me to be an organic chemistry tutor at Hunter College. I enjoyed interacting with students who were eager to learn it. It was my pleasure helping them with their difficulties in concept understanding, problem solving and encouraged them to try out themselves with self-confidence. I loved seeing them improve their understanding of concepts as well as their test scores. I tutor Organic Chemistry I and II because I really like the deep concepts behind every topic and planning out the strategies to get to the solution. I believe enjoying the process of learning new things is a key step that allows our minds to grow and nurture and it let us discover skills and talents that are hidden within each of us. Besides Organic Chemistry, I like writing, playing badminton and reading about historical events.

If you're reading this, it is probably because you want to learn a little more about my personality and credentials. In short, I am an affable, non-judgmental teacher, and am broadly qualified to tutor everything from basic literacy, to specialized test-prep, to college-level composition. I have almost a decade's worth of experience teaching and tutoring for the verbal sections of the English Regents, SAT, ACT, AP Language, and AP Literature exams, and served as an undergraduate at the Georgetown University Writing Center. Additionally, I enjoy helping students with their college admissions essays, and have found that there is a way to make the writing process authentic, creative, and sometimes even enjoyable. So, whatever your dilemma, consider inviting me to help.

My favorite moments during tutoring sessions are when students truly connect with the material and we can both learn something new.

As a member of the first generation in my family to go to college, I realized that this will be my gateway to explore what I wanted in my life. While attending CUNY, nothing intrigued me more than the chemical aspects of human anatomy. For example, I was completely baffled by the idea how the Le-Chatelier's principle can be used to regulate the pH in our body, or how conjugation in cholesterol structure helps provide fluidity in cell membrane. Inspired by this very ability of science to explain the physiological phenomenon, I decided to major in Chemistry. During my time at Hunter, I starting tutoring incoming freshmen and sophomores during my undergraduate years. As I begun my journey as a tutor, I realized that I was extremely enthusiastic about science, and education in general. I learned that with the right tools and resources, any student can achieve their goals. I am qualified to teach biochemistry, chemistry, and Biology. I can adapt to each student's needs and cater instruction and coaching through creative ways that can achieve positive outcomes.During the summer of last year in college, I began research on the genomic evolution of Syphils disease at Weill Cornell Medical College. The research focused primarily on the comparative analysis of various genes of the Syphlis disease pathogen-Treponema Pallidum. My job as a paid-intern involved extracting various orthologs from Trep genome, and to analyze the diversification in Treponema bacteria with the help of molecular phylogenetics. Currently I am an Adjunct at CUNY Hunter, where I teach general chemistry lab course. I am also familiar with various computer languages, such as bash, PERL, SQL, and bioperl.

I often say I work best with folks who "love learning but hate school."I am very flexible with teaching, ethics and focus on student needs, styles and interests. My passion for teaching stems from a philosophy instilled in me by my 4th grade teacher, 'anything worth doing, is worth doing well'. My goal for educating students is to challenge them to be curious, courageous, creative, and critical thinkers in order to empower children to take charge of their own success. Learning needs to be intentional, energetic, hilarious, focused, motivating, and inspiring, which requires passionate educators, such as myself, to create environments where all of this is possible. I approach education from a whole-child perspective. A student's success is not based solely on their academic achievement, but their social/emotional development, their relationships with their peers, family, surrounding community, culture, and world. This enveloping philosophy begins with developing a student's character, heart, intellect, and creativity equally; the things that resonate from their core, so that their success is not based purely on academic standing, but who they are as a person. I love each and every one of my students and I make sure they know and feel this in the way I relate to them. Their success is directly linked to my commitment to making it so.

As a former rhythmic gymnastics trainer for young girls and private tutor, I love to share my skills and knowledge in all areas of my expertise. I understand the patience that comes with explaining problems to or training a student who may have never seen the subject before or has been taught incoherently. I specifically love tutoring math and physics because I myself have witnessed teachers or professors who have unmotivated students to continue further studies in those subjects with the use of unclear and didactic teaching methods. Math and physics is not so scary! To me it was more like learning a new language. I finished my baccalaureate in physics with a math minor. I have also done very well on standardized tests, not strictly because of my analytical knowledge but mostly because of the test taking skills I have aquired. I hope to pass on these skills so students don't have to waste time retaking standardized tests and parents don't have to cover as many fees. I scored 790/800 on the math portion of the SAT on my first try! More importantly, I hope to pass on my love for math and physics, and show more students the hidden simplicity and beauty within the notoriously scary subjects.

During sophomore year of college, I had the opportunity to help high school students from underprivileged backgrounds study for the SAT. There were about 30 students in each room with just two teachers, and I knew I had my work cut out for me, but I wanted to make a difference in an important time in their lives as they studied the math and English skills needed to do well on the exam and get accepted to the colleges they desired. Every time I saw a score increase on a practice test, I knew I was making a difference, and that gave me deep satisfaction. On the elementary and middle school level, I've helped family friends who were having difficulty in their classes understand concepts through easy-to-learn tools that simplified what may have seemed complicated before. When they do well on an exam, I know I served them well. I look back on the quote I chose in my high school yearbook from Jackie Robinson, the first Major League Baseball player to cross the color barrier: "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives." I hope I can make a positive impact on the lives of you and your child.

I am a graduate of CUNY Hunter College with a Bachelors in Latin and Ancient Greek, as well as a Masters in Adolescent Latin Education. I have years of experience tutoring just about every age group and level of Latin (6th grade through college), even founded an afterschool Latin tutoring program for elementary school students, and taught Middle School Latin for the DOE. I am passionate about teaching students because I found myself through Classics, first stumbling on Ancient Greek through the historian Herodotus, "The Father of History," and teaching myself the language outside of a school setting. This is how I found my love for classical languages and learning in general really. This interest extended to Latin, for which I was prepared because of the rigor of Greek. A scholarship through my school allowed me to study Greek abroad in Athens, Greece; and another scholarship in the name of the Pope's Latinist, Reginald Foster, brought me to Rome, Italy to study Classical, Medieval, Renaissance, and mostly spoken Latin through the Paideia Institute. Furthermore, I encourage students to find the beauty of Latin and Greek for their own sake, which still nonetheless echo through every modern discipline today. In this way, they will become better readers and writers, and ultimately better learners, as these classical languages shape their minds.

Students have said they really enjoy and find it helpful when I use my clinical and research background to apply topics being learned to real-life examples.Courses I am confident in tutoring include:- RD Exam Prep- Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) I, II, and III- Macronutrient Metabolism- Micronutrient Metabolism- Foodservice Management- World Nutrition- Research Methods- Nutrition Counseling- Nutrition Assessment through the Lifecycle- Community Nutrition- Nutritional Biochemistry- Statistics 101I primarily prepare students for the RD exam but I am happy to help with any nutrition-related course/classwork and provide guidance to students aiming to match with dietetic internships as well. I can also help with resume preparation, mock interviews, and general guidance throughout the DICAS application process. My favorite course to tutor are Medical Nutrition Therapy because of my clinical and clinical nutrition research background and RD exam prep.I currently hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree from CUNY Hunter College. I graduated from Drexel University with a Master of Science in Human Nutrition with a Clinical Nutrition Research concentration in 2019. Afterward, I matched with my first ranked internship choice and went on to complete my dietetic internship at the National Institutes of Health. I am a Ph.D. student and teacher's assistant at Drexel University in their Nutrition Sciences department, with a concentration in nutritional neuroscience. I currently part part-time as a clinical dietitian and dietetic intern preceptor as well.
